- Ok folks here it is our stab at the best Christmas song ever written Fairytale of New York.
While playing our monday sessions we checked out the piano that sits in the lounge of The Beaumont House. It needed some TLC and tuning to get it back in working order but our multi instrumentalist Declan Parsons is pretty underused when it comes to his pianist skills so after speaking with the pub it was agreed that we would get the piano tuned and put it to use.
We just want to say for all that see and hear this video we are well aware that this song can never be bettered or even matched when compared with the original. It is simply perfection. For that reason there was some reluctance in recording it but its such a pleasure to sing and perform that we said we would do it and share it with the session goers and those who follow us online.
No big studio production here just The Sons jamming as usual around the piano.
We didnt have to look far for our female vocalist as our very own Joey "The Bass" Hughes' daughter Aideen who frequents most of our sessions was on hand to lend her voice and become a Rising Son/Daughter for the day.
We want to thank everyone who came along for the recording last monday. It was a fantastic evening of songs and craic. Big thanks to the cameramen at Defiant for capturing us in our natural habitat and to The Beaumont House for hosting these Monday sessions that are growing all the time.
