I'm a 75-year-old Englishman, who once had the privilege of meeting Barney McKenna in the mid-seventies. His cousin brought him to the pub where we had a folk club in Harefield, England. I asked Barney to play a tune from the Dubliners first LP, and I was totally in awe of the man, I actually spoke to him, he actually spoke to me, between puffs of Sweet Afton.!!! He is my Main Man, and I mourn his passing every day. There is only one original Dubliner left, John Sheahan, but there are so many, creditable TRUE spirits of THE MUSIC still existing in Dublin. I've never been to Ireland. I want to go there, NOW!
You should book a show to one of George's gigs. I have a very rare video of George Murphy Joining the Wolf Tones. It's one of a kind. George and the lads are on a irish tour at the moment it would be a show you should not miss...!!
We need to keep these songs alive. Music changes and times moves fast. These songs are our heritage and we should always sing them and encourage the future generations to do the same. Fantastic lads.❤
The older generation were lucky to have Luke Kelly to sing for them. We are lucky to have George Murphy to sing for us keeping the great songs alive. Fair play to ya.
last year I took my 16yr old granddaughter to see them at the Watergate, Kilkenny, she loved them, so much so grandad had to buy her a couple of albums as we left.... a good concert so it was....
When I hear the comparison of Luke Kelly and George Murphy, I honestly cringe. Luke was levels above almost every musical talent in this country. George is just ok, it's no disrespect but I have honestly heard better buskers than this guy.

Absolute murder on the ears. He's no Luke and never will be. Too forced. Painful to listen to.
