  • I was terribly excited for this whodunit but #murdermubarak really turned out be such a snooze fest. Was it because there were too many characters or just a lack of direction. The movie stars #saraalikhan #vijayvarma #pankajtripathi #dimplekapadia #karishmakapoor and #sanjaykapoor in prominent roles and is available on #netflixindia . I hope you like the Murder Mubarak Movie Review & Analysis | Sara Ali Khan | Pankaj Tripathi | Vijay Varma | Netflix India

This could have been a 3-4 part web-series 1-1.5 hour episodes. There could have been so much to add: exploring Vijay Varma's mysterious girlfriend and his tension with his parents, Karishma-Sanjay's rivalry, cause of Brijendra's strange behavior, Tisca's family history, Sara's husband's death...

    • @Subtronical

I agree a web series would have been better even if lets say episode 10 sucks, atleast if could have given 6-7 episodes watchable then its fine, coz many web series typically fizzle out in the ending episodes of season 1 or 2 and then get cancelled. It was pretty obvious from the get go that either Vijay did all that and or Sara ..only thing was i didnt know she killed her husband that very night of the party..even that part was bizzare having one person drag from the 2nd floor to some backyard and then dig and bury .. that was a bit poorly written and was totally done in the open.
and when the husband didnt show up to board the bus/van the next morning before leaving for Vacation ..nobody from his family and or friends started calling? I mean that is stupid right? he died the night before of the vacation ...they leave for vacation the NEXT morning and nobody noticed that he is not in the bus and left him and never called the house to ask where he is ..after the accident it does not matter.. but if you are my friend and family and we are going on a trip tom and I DONT even board the bus..everyone is going to ask where am i and would have called sara, her parents, all friends at the anniversary party.. its not like they were boarding the bus right on an edge of cliff and it fell..haha .. basically that suggests that the dude's family did not give a F that he was not in the bus and left without him and didnt even bother finding out and then met with their accident and all died. great...what nonsense.

@@TriedRefusedProductions Anmol there were parts of the script that made no damn sense like Vijay Verma's character and his actions. Aren't lawyers supposed to be street smart or at least semi intelligent??? Why was he and Sara driving to Yash's house while high? Being a lawyer, the man never thought doing that is inexcusable and extremely stupid especially given his profession and age of maturity??? Or why did he not question her when she wanted to break into Yash's house to click some random photos and was easily willing to let her manipulate and gaslight him time and again and constantly drag him down even at the end. The writing was so ridiculous and chaotic with all these random senseless subplots and tangents. I had a splitting headache at the end.

@@TriedRefusedProductions I can't believe I am saying this but if the makers felt compelled to ONLY go for a star kid for Sara's role, they could have cast either Ananya or Alaya F and both would have killed it even if they were just playing a version of themselves on screen. Why should we as an audience suffer??? Sara is just not justifying the opportunities she is getting on a platter and I feel the same way about her upcoming Ae Watan movie after seeing that trailer. She's playing a "real life freedom fighter" who met Gandhi in that one!

Pankal Tripathi's repetitive role as middle class, naive, "hasmukh" role is seriously is getting under my nose, especially knowing his power as Kaleen Bhaiya and Sultan, he should do more villainous and darker roles. Vijay Varma's expresionaless face is also getting reptitive. Suhail Nayyar was a breath of fresh air, and he defintely deserves more roles while Karishma Kapoor's return was actually quite good. Sanjay Kapoor 2.0 is all about flamboyant life, it's almost like he is playing himself, happy and cheery on outside but miserable inside. Worst characters were of Dimple Kapadia & Sara Ali Khan, poorly written and executed while the dark horse standout was Bijendra Kala, only myster of this murder mystery.

In her early yrs, she was also battling the lack of love and guidance from her paternal industry elders who were trying to block her success and not allowing her to get good films, something that none of her contemporaries or any outsider had to endure. I would very much disagree because the films at the start of her career didn't really have any scope for the female lead.
Once she became of age and actually got protagonist roles - she killed it Every time.
You could see her calibre in Andaz Apna Apna, Judwaa, ( she was a BRILLIANT Commercial actress)
She was nowhere average by the time some sensible cinema like Raja Hindustani came her way.
She and Raveen a Tandon or Shilpa Shetty - knew how to hold their own in a frame, in spite of being written as an accessory to the hero
So your comparison is very very unfair.
These women had to wait a decade to get Fiza or Zubeidaa whilst Aliya or Deepika get strong roles at the very beginning.

I also feel like we are making movies which are trying to be more than the genre, and in the process underdeliver on the genre itself. This movie was trying to be a social satire, making its characters behave in a self aware quirky way. And the film focussed on two characters which were the most dull compared to the other supportive cast. And the mystery was highly predictable, and with the it being so leisurely paced. Everything in the movie was good except for the main lead Sara Ali Khan. Seemed like every other veteran actors were there to make up for Sara’s lack of acting skill. She has been doing same kind of role in every movie. If she does not reinvent herself or at least learn to act, it is a wrap for her unlike her contemporary Janvi kapoor( Mili) and Ananya Pandey(Kho Gaye him Kaya). On the other hand it was lovely to see that Karishma kapoor still got it. 3/10

I root for Sara after watching her interviews and how earnest she is, but her acting skills are subpar, and I don't think it's the lack of variety in roles she's done. Her filmography will make almost every other new age actor jealous, and she still hasn't delivered a convincing performance thus far in five years.
Hopefully she'll have a second coming in her career like her father, and she'll be a top actor ten years down the line. Right now, she's just below average.

Murder Mubarak doesn't know what it wants to be-- a side quest, detective fiction, murder mystery comedy, forbidden romance. It's such a hodge podge of everything, I lost attention real quick. I also found the sex scenes forced af. That scene with Dimple discovering the trainer's body but her first instinct being to lick his thigh was just yuck (I don't want to get into the opening sex scene with the gym trainer and a staff member). How this got past the writer's room is beyond me.
Sara up until her confrontation scenes was actually good. Something about her voice in those confrontations puts me off.

Honestly speaking, Sara Ali Khan is no match to actors like pankaj tripathi, vijay Sharma & roger actors in the film.
She has just been put in this film because being a nepo kid.
She has literally screwed the role.
I think Nusrat bharucha, aditi hydari, yami gautam would have nailed it.
But unfortunately the star kids want to make their names under the shadows of excellent actors.
Ince such example is another nepo kid Alia Bhatt who is constantly being publicized as the superstar actress.
I don't know how the Bollywood industry would survive without recognizing the talented actors who are still struggling to prove themselves.
