I once saw an interview during lockdown where Ranbir acknowledged how privileged he is and it is unfair to compare his lockdown life to a financially struggling common man and he respectfully chose not to answer. On other hand there were numerous interviews by celebrities where they talked about how tough it was for them to sit at home during the same time. At least he wasn't pretentious and accepted his privilege unlike others.
He doesn't pretend at all no social media no interviews when not doing movies, I love this quality about Ranbir makes me like him more
@@ConfusedSoul234he is not even on social media
It depends on what their struggle is. You can be in a small one bed or a mansion but if the struggle is your mental health then no amount of money is going to make it better, more comfortable yes but it will still be a struggle for them.
If the struggle is that they can't jump on their private plane in lockdown and go to Paris then they need to re-evaluate their existence.
Exactly he always accepts his privilege he is very aware that's what I like about him. He is real.
Even though during that time he lost his father he stated that his privilege was still way beyond the average man and that he didn’t want to sit or complain. It’s the interview with Rajeev Masand.
An anchor asked Rajinikanth "How are you so humble and down to earth ?"
Rajini replied " I drive a BMW car. I stay in a 5 star hotel. How can you call me humble ?"

Shahrukh Khan has often said how he enjoys his stardom to the fullest and would NOT have it any other way. Does he miss having some private time eating street food? NO. Does he miss not being hounded by fans wherever he goes? NO. Does he miss not being able to peacefully run errands like regular people? NO. He whole-heartedly accepts that he is a superstar and that not everybody has to relate to him or his lifestyle. He worked his a** off for this lifestyle and so he's proud of it. I've never for once found this to be arrogant. In fact, he exudes confidence, honesty, and respect. This is what makes him so much better than the rest: he doesn’t pretend to be something he is not and works towards what truly matters, i.e., his craft. If you've noticed, he plays relatable characters in almost every movie and plays them so damn well. THAT is what's truly important. If you're an actor, please ACT. Because you're being paid to act on screen, not in real life.

I came from a very lower middle class background, and had alot of friends from financially sound families and as I have been through actual lower section of society, I felt as if those people are living in a world so different from mine. Every part of their life, clothing, eating, travelling, even their social media feeds, type of news they keep up with, everything was so distant from everyday folks. So it's stupid to think that childrens brought up in influential families, studied abroad, lived in a safe bubble have anything in common with us. They live a completely different life and that's perfectly fine. But this melodrama of oh I know your ways just sucks. Just be yourself, it works better
I appreciate Jahnvi at this point. She has openly admitted to being privileged and not having to travel in locals or go door to door. Sara, while trying hard looks so forced.
and more importantly, you can see a conscious attempt by Jahnvi to improve her craft, starting from the choice of films she says yes to, yes there is a long way to go but you can clearly see her progress from Dhadak. Sara on the other hand seems to have had the opposite journey, starting out with a banging performance to then delivering subpar performances in increasingly mediocre and crass films.
Sara atleast accepted her mistakes whether it's about her acting or her public experience...But Janvi said in many of her Interviews that mujhe izzat nehi mili, people hesitates to praise me, people hates me because I am a Star kids bla bla...But the truth is after Dhadak she is giving continuous flops still getting movies because of her surname..And it's fine if you have privilege then everyone exploits it but atleast Janvi should accept it...even in her recent Barkha Dutt's Interview she said I am getting hate... If you see Ranbir Kapoor's aib interview there are many instances and especially one when he said people shouldn't take serious opinions of celebrities seriously. Not everyone has the intellect of amitabh bachchan and srk. And for someone not having a pr and not even being on social media it really speaks a lot about his knowledge and understanding of the industry and how the audience actually percieves celebs.
Sara acts better in real life than Screen. Her whole persona is an act. No one behaves like this with such a posh upbringing
Ranbir Kapoor, vicky kaushal, Siddharth Malhotra, are some of the rare actor how've proven their merits & yet are genuinely very humble & grounded, ranveer singh comes across as flamboyant & obnoxious in his media appearance but when it comes to mastery over his arts & versatility as an actor, the guy has nailed it to the teeth.
Ranveer Singh is also humble. It just people associate being humble means staying quite and not standing out. But personality can differ.
Except for his eccentric choice of clothing I hv never heard him being bad person or arrogant .
He enjoys his life and why shouldn't he be? Everyone is working for their comfort and to do the things they like.
He is good human and expert in his job. That's matter most.
To me, they're just people. They can live simply, lavishly or be thoughtful of spending their money anyway. Like, in my opinion, they are just overcriticized most of the time for their celebrity status. Some may fake it surely. For some reason people can't bear the thought that celebrities can act like normal people too because they are. The only thing that makes them and us different is their fame and that's it🤷♂️.
It's not restrictive to just fame but the upbringing and circles you are accustomed to. When one is exposed to generational wealth and interact with a certain strata for most of your life, that ends up becoming your 'normal' : It therefore becomes slightly performative when one plays the 'Im just like you guys' trope
@TriedRefusedProductions That can also be the case as I mentioned. Not everyone can be true about that and can be all a part of PR but what if they genuinely enjoy those things that they do rather than acting? There can be people who grow in a wealthy household bur lead a simpler lifestyle. I'm pretty sure a lot of people in the South Asian region do that. They spend well but do not go overboard. They are very wary about their spending which some might call them kanjoos for but, it's just them🤷♂️.

I have been following you for a long time. This is easily one of the best videos of yours that I have seen yet. Much more insightful & analytical about the internal motivation driving celebrities to behave in a certain way.
Thank you for bringing up this. Specially few actors they just act everywhere except in their films. The fake simplicity, simple outfit at airports, liking for pani puri, travelling in auto riksha before film release...its just so irritating. The fans will love them more for their talent rather than showing themselves as someone else.
No matter the amount of wealth you have amassed, the PR you use for enchancing your Social outlook, attributes like skill, experience, simplicity, humbleness, modesty, struggle to success etc.. are the ones that hold and stand through the test of time and gets the respect. Thats what attracts the audience towards you.
Bollywood celebrities were very late in realising this. While Stars in the southern industry were successful in maintaining the love of their fans because most of them realise the importance of the above mentioned attributes. Akshay Khanna is one example who despite of being son of Superstar has stood apart as shining star because he has immense talent, skill and a very good quality of minding his own business.

Alternate opinion alert: Speaking specifically to Sara Ali Khan's example, I don't find it surprising that she is a miser or doesn't own designer labels. If you look at her formative years and her family story (raised by a single mother, volatile income, instability with Amrita Singh restarting her career and Saif Ali Khan just about re-establishing himself), it is not surprising that she is frugal! You see the response Jahnvi Kapoor gave "Rs6000 - bade paise bachaa liye" and there lies the difference in background and experiences. And for people who wear designer clothes day in day out and have it at their disposal whenever required, why would you want to own one? So we need to have a little open mind that not everything is put on. Palak Tiwari - similar background. If you hear stories that Dimple Kapadia and Twinkle Khanna have shared about how life was as a single mother, the income troubles and the compromises etc - you'd know that these ladies have a common thread and hence speak similarly - Ananya Pandey, Jahnvi Kapoor do not talk about 'not owning designer labels' or being so frugal. Ok, end of rant :) Hope that made sense!
It’s absolutely not necessary to mention that you don’t own designer clothes. She might not own some but she has never said she cannot afford it. She have had spent crores on just her Ivy League education. She comes from influential families on the both side. I won’t discount they might have had cash flow troubles growing up but it doesn’t suddenly make her families fortunes go away. The social safety net they possess alone is far more valuable than any regular indian could ever dream to possess. She might really behave like a regular chic in real life and very down to earth nice girl. But that’s the bare minimum that doesn’t make her special. Her trying to play that part as if she is not like her contemporaries is futile. The point isn’t if she is a miser who doesn’t wear designer brands the point is that she is overplaying her relatability when we very well know how privileged she is.

And she might not have a financial crisis but not having a single designer clothes might be her choice of life too who are we to judge and say it's an act. It might be an act too but still it doesn't make her fake. Proof is KWK episode of Janvi and Sara. They both went on a trip that means it's a personal trip and would someone put up an act even on personal trips? I feel like the sense of mystery can often be advantageous for celebs. One example is this celebrity called Alexa Demie who got super popular for her role on Euphoria. She has this mysterious persona that often gets people talking about her.(Ofcourse her aesthetic i.e. she has that 90s superstar vibe also helps) She comes from a famous family too and is friends with the infamous Kardashians but she is so mysterious and charismatic that she gets people gossiping about her without making much statements. I was checking her Instagram where she has barely 21 posts which is very less for a celeb.
Love the fact that you ended the video with snaps of Sanya, Mrunal and Tripti, 3 actors who in a better world would be among the most acclaimed in the country!!
So glad finally this is being discussed! It's all a part of their PR image grooming
I think instead of trying to become relatable for the people, it will be great if the characters they play and the story they tell becomes relatable. Then there won't be any need to try and mix with the people. The time has gone when people used to keep the stars on a pedestal. As you said we are slowly learning to separate the art from the artist. All we need is just a good piece of art which is worth our time and money. I have always wondered whether this fake PR does any favor to their careers.
Is it difficult or may b awkward to be a critic as you work in the same industry?! However, I really appreciate you speaking your mind and putting your thoughts in a way that conveys the message clearly.
I feel these days everything is an act when it comes to celebrities. what gets published and what's not, is part of their plan. Hence, we have PR team these days.

As you rightly said, in the beginning it did come across as humble and realistic, but beyond a point it just comes across as mocking when they push their middle class agenda but fly to exotic locations for vacation every now and then like it is travelling from Mumbai to Pune. At some point, with them calling themselves middle class makes it glamorous and the real middle class knows it is anything but that
When i think about relatable i can just think of Robert Pattinson. He has never changed throughout the years and never tries to show that he is relatable yet i feel that he is very natural and real with himself
Sara's real persona is quiet evident in one the interviews she gave during the promotions of gaslight with vikrant and chitrangada...
Very well observed. They all are focusing on creating a relatable persona while the art form at individual levels isn't going anywhere. Their core skill is to act but they don't seem to be pushing the envelope.
I also would like to say that i really appreciate the fact that you speak your mind and share an honest perspective. It is not like other youtubers ( pretty famous) who do interviews to make celebs come across as intellectuals after a few unscripted interview fiascos on other channels. I really love Jennifer Lawrence and loved her over the years. In my opinion, she was really sweet and genuinely a humble and real person in the beginning of her career. But now she is having a hard time handling the fame. She doesn't know how to react in the interviews anymore cause the audience criticized her for being herself too.
I think this is the catch 22 Ranveer is currently dealing with. He loves being expressive and over the top and when the public perception was that its kind of annoying, he's way more reserved. This will make actors be neither here nor there fearing how the public will react
I think the breaking point for most fans was when she called herself the First Female Action Star! (completely forgetting about the likes of Linda Hamilton and Sigourney Weaver)
We fall in love with the characters that the actors play. We should criticize them for that, whether they are doing their job well or not. Dude, no problem with all that. See, I am a doctor. Will you come to me because I am genuinely nice to people who work under me or for me or will you come to me because I am good at my job. Should I advertise how humble I am, or should I advertise how good the effects of my treatment are?
All their marketing and PR is for earning them money. Your hard-earned money. If she is not giving good acting in her movies and great entertainment, and still getting your money, she is fooling you. Plain and simple.
@@mohanashewalkar8598 his content was about her trying to be relatable to middle class people when she comes from a royal family. I'm making no reference to her acting. Each one has their choice of whose acting they like whose they don't.
And it matters how you treat people it's important
@queenb2646 Never have I ever denied that. It is extremely important how you treat other people. It is the bare minimum. We should stop putting actors and actresses on pedestral because they are kind to non actors. And that is what both of us are trying to say. People intertwined acting normally with being some kind of a gem when it is not so.
Beautifully curated video, Jennifer Lawrence came to my mind upon seeing the title of the video I barely clicked to watch!
A few days ago, I commented on a video of Sara talking to paparazzi in Cannes about borrowing roaming from her assistant and how everyone around her is insisting that she should get roaming as it is really cheap but she said she doesn't want to pay for a month worth of roaming for two days. It was a Sara Ali Khan fan page.
My comments were on the lines of this relatable behavior is a PR stunt. A good one yet a PR stunt none the less.
I was surprised by the amount of people who brought up how I was jealous of her and how I wish I was her and all other stuff you can imagine.
Our country is full of idol worshippers. It is just sad.
Nothing against Sara, but everything bollywood does is well curated. Nothing is ever accidental.
Thank you so much Jammy for bringing this up. Your videos are always immaculate and unbiased. Great content as always.
Hey Man, huge fan of yours.....just one request since nowadays since Bollywood isn't producing much good, Can you please review the movies especially the underrated ones from the 50' 60's and 70's ?
This guy just spoke my heart ❤.
We really shouldn't believe the nonsense some actors feed and truly judge them on basis of performance n talent.
Sadly a lot of indian minds function in stupid ways and fall into this carefully designed trap to create a fanbase
Absolutely nailed it man... who are they kidding!!! Anurag kashyap said in B.Rangan interview that bollywood is struggling becos the current gen talents are not rooted. Also, you are very true, i can speak for tamil industry where audiences have rejected if there is no talent. Talent is not just about acting, its also about choosing the right scripts where story is the focus and are experimental (and not a safe launchpad)
this is a really eye opening video :) this is not a praise.. but such my thought to your thoughts! the world needs more such videos where people are trolling urfi javed etc type shit! there needs to give voice to reality rather than showing off by these so called heroes heroines! kudos to you!
Here’s my 2 cents into this. The fake personas created by the PR teams is presented to us because we tend to take actors as role models and we need something to admire them. SRK giving life advices about how to be successful like work day and night and ignore your health (you’ll have high BP etc.) is an unconventional take and whatever is out of the norm… out of normal… we tend to appreciate it especially if it comes from a successful person whom many already admire.
"SRK giving life advices about how to be successful like work day and night and ignore your health" when ?
@@mrluciferlucernasearch srk motivational in CZcams..u ll get them
yes and its true. Look at some of the most successful people in all walks of life, they work both hard and smart and they dont like resting. its part of their personality. if you are high on conscientiousness and openness and low in neuroticism, you will keep working. people who score high in these traits, dont procrastinate, passionate and they finish the work they started. success is just by product.
@@kaleem346 being passionate about something is one thing but jeopardising health is not good. Now that I’m approaching my 30s and my health parameters not being good, I just introspect whether all hard work was worth jeopardising my health and every time I get a no. But that’s just me
@@mrluciferlucerna In a video he said while telling how to be successful. It is motivating for sure but in cost of health I don’t think so.
That is why we respect Ranbir Kapoor🔥✨
Love this video. I completely agree that artistes should focus on their craft, in this case, movies/ web series that they work on, but perhaps mediocre film stars earn more as influencers than film stars that’s why they curate their personalities where the influencer gigs are successful. As viewers it’s upon us to make that decision whether we’ll accept a particular artiste as a film artist or as an influencer.
One of the legendary director who created gems of Tamil cinema Rajnikanth and Kamal Hassan always gave them one true advice. and that is Only act when you are in a film, not outside of it. And it makes a lot sense now.
Okay but still the girl Sara Ali Khan comes across as a good soul and a well brought up girl and down to earth also is an intelligent one than most other actresses Jhanvi Kapoor, Ananya Pandey. At least she is not arrogant like Ali’s Bhatt or Kareena or Sonam.
Happy Birthday Sara Ali Khan🎉🎉
Finally, someone spoke about it 👏
I find your point about food/beverages is so on point. How many times do you hear actors telling us what they eat and not eat and then they make ads about Junk foods and beverages. It is only money that matters, also someone like Akshay Kumar (and I am his biggest fan since I am a kid) promoting Ghutka, but in real life he keeps saying he doesn't understand why today's youth has to go with artificial protein powders, etc.
You inspire me to work hard Jammy! Great work 💯
Now that's a good and responsible expose of fake and orchestrated showoff. Great work TRP
Faking being relatable is their pr answer to backlash of nepotism and subpar acting. It is honestly tiring to see such plastic actresses and also some actors, who have nothing credible nor produce any.
One of your finest videos so far❤
That’s a good point of discussion! Social media has given easy access for both the actors and the audience to reach out to each other and in the desire to get more fans a few actors do seem to try expanding their reach by creating social media personas. I believe we need more role models or inspirations away from actors and sportsmen. An actor’s job is to play out a character and tell us a story. We make them stars and put them up on a pedestal. Here actors like Pankaj Tripathi, Ranbir, Rajkumar, Sai Pallavi, Fahad, Dhanush, and the like are admirable and take it as a job and stick to it doing it so well. Essentially as fans, we like them for their work and honesty in the craft and it shouldn’t be otherwise.
I feel like Sara’s pr has planned to do her branding as the relatable common girl and at this point its surpassed all the benchmarks for cringe 😵💫
Lol I remember the PR during Sara ali khans debut. Everyone loved her due to witty and relatable girl. I always thought that was a facade for everyone to like her.
This was quite the news item turnaround. I haven’t even finished making my notes to compare it with yours.
Do you write for newspapers as well? This sounded like a top tier op ed. As usual, love the depth of your research
Sara once visited Assam for some shoot. After the shoot she went to the Kamakhya temple with her friend, there were no cameras. She was behaving like any other normal girl, no drama, no showoff, no attitude. She was wearing a simple white salwar kameez and roaming around unlike otehr actor's who visit the same place with media and with their starry tantrums. Also, one cannot be taught so much that they'll know about the names of gali nukkar's of small cities and get excited while explaining about those places. I don't know about other's but Sara is genuine, don't know why you feel she's acting or may be if it was Janhvi doing the same your opinions would have been different.
Were you there at the temple?

It was only after many days when that "corona go" MLA visited the temple and they booked 2 flights and extra arrangements were made for them, we were discussing how when these people visit the temple normal public have to suffer, this doesn't happens even when Amit Shah, Modi or other Bollywood actors visits the temple, only at that time he said that a year back Sara had visited but she was very simple and not showing off but other actors do show some tantrums, since he stays nearby so he knows.
You're just a hater or PR of some actress which is why you're here just to spread hate that too with a fake name.
The reason behind such behaviour of many celebrities is because of the wave of nepotism triggered due to the death of SSR. Rest in Peace SSR
Shwetaabh gangwar ne jab bollywood ko roast kiya tha tab se ye sab start huva tha
So nepotism har industry mein hai actually sushant case was used by many kangana on Bollywood media for trp youtubers for subscribers I don't know when these supporters will realise or not
Fantastic content Jammy!!
Lol very good take! Their simple life talks and their lavish persona and lifestyle just doesn't match.
For me sara khan always seem pretentious and overly smart and sweet...i like ananya more for some reason may be.
Thats what i love about SRK when sumone asked whether u miss eating pani puri road side or vada pav from random vendor..he said absolutely not he is living lavish life after hard work n he has no interest in going to same regular life previously..thats so true...about sara whether its curated image or not she is better than other snooty collegue of hers
First of all i really appreciate you jammy for your content choices. This is important topic to be discussed that a public image of a celebrity and his work are two different things. Your public image cannot save you if u are doing bad work consistently But if your work is phenomenal then you will be appreciated without any image building.
But the funny part is nowadays movies and shows are not the major segments of entertainment but celebrity interviews, their appearances and promotions in TV shows and the related drama has become the main part of our day-to-day entertainment by sitting at home in our lazy time😄
thanks for diving into this issue jammy pants.
I'm so irritated by these so called young stars who are just not keen to learn the craft but only doing social media gigs!! I would never pay 1 penny to watch them.
Rahul gandi is 50 year old young boy😊
Oh i forgot to add that your core belief that one has to be or come from abject poverty to seem real or their ability to relate and share regular facets of life is so unfounded and uneducated.
Wow! What a BOLD video!!❤❤ Jammie
Damn good video 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Think you nailed it when you said we shouldn't be looking for the truth from celebs who are paid to perform in fictional roles! Love that line, Anmol 🙌🏼
I actively keep away as much as possible with their off screen PR as i see that as a distraction, & it goes against my experience when i try to invest into who they're playing on screen when I've taken time out to go to the cinema, paid for a ticket, to see a directors vision unfold.
We can either fully endorse good cinema, or be celeb obsessed, feeding into their egos and quite possibly discouraging them to do better on screen - afterall, why would an actor try to make an effort when they're getting enough clout off screen, amass followers, endorsements etc?
Plus, the bigger question is, why do WE not see how we're actually making these celebs compelled to constantly engage with us, as they're also seeking our approval and validation - a dopamine hit of attention, the need to be like, "hey, you me, same same".
We get a dopamine hit by getting the attention or a like or RT from a celeb, they get the dopamine hit from the attention we give - it's then no longer about CINEMA - the very reason they joined the industry to begin with.
That said, we have seen many actors not grow all that much, who have made a career despite giving mediocre performances, so there's no real reason for them to give anymore than what they're giving already.
Afterall, many people join movies to fulfil a lack within themselves, a need for attention, and not necessarily to be a part of storytelling.
Nailed it. Such accurate analysis. 🔥🔥🔥

Thank you!
I don’t think Sara acts just to get normal vibes attention ! I strongly disagree ! But there are also actors like Kareena who always knew she was privileged and acknowledged it but never tried to gain Public sympathy !! That’s being honest too! While many would come across this as rude .either way they are celebs who often often victim to trolling from fans for either being normal or being fake as normal !!
can't beleive sara ali khan once said at kapil sharma show that she once took few towels from the production to home and she felt like buying towels worth 2000 was too much. i mean bro just stop capping at this point you literally are a nawab and wears gucci sandles and prada outfits
Bruh!! That's so dumb. Bet she probably doesn't even know who buys her towels. 😂
😂
Hi Jammy, love all of your videos! 💗
It was a very well written episode...! loved it!!
Since the sudden rise of the social media boom I believe it gives the celebrities ample room to be present in the public space apart from just their acting job. And everyone wants a share of the public attention because of the perception to create a brand of themselves. Thus giving the respective PRs to resort to such made up personas of the celebs. As you rightly pointed out at the end of the day the audience will only judge them based on their craft no matter how entertaining or relatable they portray on the non acting job. A quirky relatable story on koffee with karan / promotion interview is definitely not making me watch/like your movie if the performance is not upto the mark. Idk if Alia Bhatt tried to "act quirky" in her early years, though she garnered a good PR for herself but that was always backed by unquestionable performance on the screen!!
I totally agree with u here.. I am seriously done with sara now and I still love to watch deepika katrina or priyanka on screen coz they r not over the top in terms of their public persona.. they have maintained the mystery around them till today.. these gen z need to learn alot from them coz they r over exposed like hell....
PC is all the place alright 😂
I was just talking about this thing that i have noticed these days with celebrities with my girlies and jammy released this video today. Kudos
Great video jammy. Sara's pr team got offended in the comments section. You have shown the reality of Sara ali khan. People who are getting offended by this video, it's Sara who is constantly talking abt how middle class and miser she is. If you're wearing designer clothes, shoes, designer bags , expensive perfumesnad still saying you are not privileged but middle class. This is s true fakeness.
