I had lost weight on this diet but realized it was a sacrifice of skinny over my heart heath. I switched to a Whole Food Plant Based Diet and now my LDL and HDL and Triglycerides are in healthy normal range. I get dead skin all over my clothes, my sheets. I can't wear dark colors. The best thing I've used was black seed oil on my skin. I take Collagen, vitamin C, Hyluronic Acid, liquid multivitamin and Wiley's fish oil 2500. I think Wiley's has helped. But it's still extremely dry. It's the medications. My hair has changed to low porosity. It never was before. I drink at least 2 L if water, no soda, I eat healthy. I'm on warfarin. I can't take any other blood thinner. Got migraines and intestinal issues from Eliquis really bad. Very very bad. Any suggestions to help. Gallbladder been removed as well.

I've been plant-based for 7 months now, my cholesterol was 259 and is now 202, my LDL was 167 and is now 115. I've been eating organic foods for over 30 years now and thought so many things were healthy for me that I now know are not. I was using coconut oil all the time and have cut that out completely and use only extra virgin olive oil, and I was eating lots of almonds and spinach which I now know have high oxalate content so I have much smaller amounts, if any at all. Although Dr. B says gas will get less and less eating beans, that hasn't happened yet and I don't think I am over eating them. If I eat smaller and smaller amounts then I feel I am not getting enough protein. I exercise a lot and need protein to keep me active. I am so happy to be plant based and hope to continue to reduce my cholesterol and LDL in the future as I continue to eat plant-based. I do wonder if fish is okay once or twice a month.

Nutrition knowledge is at a v. infantile stage. Meaning we are just starting to discover things. There are two strong components to this info. 1. Ancestral influences. Not been studied in a big way n probably difficult to do so! So u might have a tolerance if you guys have been eating it for 100s of years than someone who just started. 2. Racism in science and research! For example ACV - is it really that good compared to other vinegars? Or has it just been studied more and therefore there is more data on it! Meaning is it good because the other vinegars have not been studied that much! Ancient cultures have a lot of good info. Our health has gone haywire just in the last 60 years. If the FDA put a limit to the amount of sugar, salt and fats could be used in processed food and regulated it strongly there would be a huge drop in numbers. I think it was in the 70s that big food corporations came together to discuss this issue n self regulate, but many refused coz their food scientists were saying it would take away from the addicting taste!
If you look at a regular grocery store in the US - organic or not, about 50% of the food will become poisonous for a consumer in a few decades!

@@preeta8275 I think it's likely the worst thing happening with food could be the hybridization of our crops. Pesticides, synthetic fertilizers sprayed on soil, as well putting BT toxins and whatever else inside seeds to be planted. Then there's the combining of different types of wheat that is causing allergens so that a lot of people get celiacs. Wheat used to have a smaller chromosome count than today. Scientists have concentrated glutens and allergens in grains to where bread is not healthy to eat. The corporations providing seeds to farmers today are drug and chemical companies. BASF, Cargill, Bayer, Dow, Dupont, Syngento. They also make many lethal drugs used in warfare. I wish farmers could produce there own seeds without corporate interference.

@@videos_iwonderwhy That is an improvement, but heart attack risk is minimized when total cholesterol is below 150. I followed a strict vegan diet for 9 years, but later I decided I wanted to get my B12 from natural sources; I am suspicious of mega dosing, but if you don't mega dose B12 supplements, you don't know whether enough is getting absorbed since there is wide interpersonal variance. Also, veganism is unprecedented in human experience, and also I began to have doubts about the theory that if less is good, none is best.
I haven't had my numbers checked in quite a while, but my total cholesterol was easily under 150 the last I was tested, and my triglycerides, which at first went up on a vegan diet, eventually plummeted well below 100.
However, I have spent the pandemic sitting on my butt nearly all the time and even on a very low fat diet my waistline has expanded apparently due solely to inactivity, and my numbers now probably would reflect that. While staying on a low fat, high fiber diet, I am going to try to shape up with walking and weights with no conscious portion control. That doesn't work with "moderate" exercise, but it should with more activity than most people are presumed to be willing to do. Appetite increases some with exercise, but only up to a point, and I would rather sweat than starve.

Most recent studies (please don't ask me to identify them) suggest that physical activity and healthy nutrition (including fats, animal or vegetal) does NOT increase mortality, even with high cholesterol (to a limit, of course).
