- On my first long motorcycle tour I made some mistakes, but learned a lot on the way. I went from Hamburg, Germany to Edinburgh, Scotland.

One most important tip for the GPS is to download the maps or route in advance. Don't rely on cellular data because it will cut out at some point. Booking is tough to decide. Where I live, pretty much everything is full all the time in the summer, so you can't just go without a booking. It's extremely frustrating to have to plan it all, but good planning would make it easier to not be in a rush.
So true, having the maps downloaded is an important one. Good planning seems to be the key, which you get better at over time. I probably will book all my stays in advance again, hopefully this time with better ETAs in mind :)

Nice video and good tips for a long trip
i toured with a tank bag which housed my power bank charging my phone on a quadlock. i prefer it this way because i don't want to rely on the bike's battery. the phone screen can be a little dim but that's why that cardo is useful for voice turn by turn navigation. I also got some panniers to house my raincoats, food and water etc. if there was anything i'd add to it is a windshield even if it was small like a dart. i am glad the t120 came with cruise control cause i used that so much.

You air BNB d most of your trip? Depends on your agenda I’d do bookings 24 hours ahead each evening . I have toured on naked bikes and fully blown adventure bikes. In my opinion wind protection allows you to travel much further. Seat comfort invest in a pair of decent cycling shorts (seriously). Add 20% on any GPS timings. Buy a decent flask and jet boiler you’ll save a fortune at service station. Good video thanks
Yes, I booked all my stay’s through AirBnB for this trip. Thank you for the tips, will keep them in mind for my next trip. Probably to Italy sometime next year.

what kind of flattyre kit You bring with you the next time? With spoke wheels you need tyre levers en a punctire kit for the innertube. A normal flattyre kit only works with tubeless tyres. Most of the time they are fited on castwheels
Oh I take any recommendations on that front. Over the winter my bike gets new tires. I guess I‘ll start researching for a good kit :)
@@hejrafa You could maybe even convert the spoked wheels to tubeless by sealing them, It's something I'm interested in doing to my T120 for touring so I can just take plugs for punctures.

@@hejrafa I would definitely encourage you to concentrate on story/narrative. This is what I am usually drawn to, as there is a lot of mediocre motorcycling footage on CZcams. It doesn't necessarily need to be the spoken word, either direct to camera or narrated over the top of the visuals, but there needs to be a story to the visuals. This is the theme that keeps coming through when I speak with film-makers.

A Garmin 396 or the 55 are way better since they also have all the smaller and lesser known roads and unpaved pathways on their maps cars cannot take but motorcycles can. The screen is also a lot bigger. And your smartphone will break eventually from the vibration on the bike steering wheel. Also the average smartphone screen lacks brightness and consumes battery a lot faster.
