April 17th, 2004 champion Chris Byrd defended his title against Andrew Golota in an amazing back-and-forth boxing action! It was an evenly matched bout that was difficult to score, but eventually, the champion kept the title in a draw.

Pretty good fight! Two fighters who both had huge potential. They both scored impressive wins at the top level, with Byrd winning a version of the title. I think they both lacked that extra something to become great. Golota had power, strength and skill, but who knows what was happening in his head sometimes. Byrd went from winning amateur titles at middleweight to fighting as a heavyweight! His evasive skills and fast hands took him further than 99.999% of the population so I guess that’s not bad!
