  • Grammarly is a free, AI-powered writing assistant and you can use it across all your favorite apps.
It’s used by over 30 million people and it’s a really useful tool to help you improve your writing.
It can help with spelling, grammar, clarity, and tone. It works across apps like Gmail, word, slack, and many more. And they recently added a lot of generative AI options to make it even more useful.
To get started, you can go to Grammarly.com and sign up for a free account.
They do have paid upgrades as well that give you access to more options like writing using AI prompts and plagiarism checks.
First, let’s use the web version of Grammarly and then I’ll show you how to install it across all your favorite apps including Google Docs, Microsoft Word, Gmail, and more.
You can also install it on your PC or Mac computer, directly from the Grammarly website. www.grammarly.com/

How do you get it to work in text messages on an Apple MacBook Air? Mine works everywhere else on my computer, just not in text messages. I have also downloaded the software on my computer.

I love Grammarly but have a Grammarly horror story. If you overuse the automatically generated Grammar suggestions your College essay will be FLAGGED AS AI WRITTEN. I had written an essay that was completely original and not AI-written. I was brain dead exhausted and had pasted over my original draft instead of making a new draft. My essay was returned as 30% AI written. I did not have my original draft (pre-Grammarly corrections) to show as evidence that my content was written by me. When it comes to using Grammarly grammar re-write suggestions, please be careful and always make sure to have multiple drafts! Due to my having saved my Essay multiple times in ONE document, there was no hope for Control Z to save me. Please be careful as I don't want anyone to make the same mistake I did. I had to choose a different topic and re-write the Essay.

Having the same issues, there's ways around it though by search for ai detectors that help point out where and why it was detected as AI

@@jettbennett3 The problem is using the grammar suggestions like you use spell check. Imagine if we had to check spell check due to accusations of AI. If you keep all of your drafts then you can prove that you wrote the paper. Just warning people though. Grammarly can absolutely wreck your paper if you accept too many Grammar suggestions.

Depending on how many corrections, IT COULD be that 30% of your paper was AI written. Grammarly should be banned for use on any school paper at all levels. You are not learning if AI is fixing your mistakes for you.

@@almoemason As I implied, I was overly enthusiastic regarding accepting sentence enhancements and treating it like spell check. I now only use spell check and corrections for a missing comma here or there. Take any essay that you write. Go to Grammelry and accept all the corrections and you will be flagged for AI written.

@@ohplease587 This is for a good reason. It WOULD BE AI written. I would would make all my students write their mid terms and final on classroom computers, without internet or Grammerly.

This is a horrible service. It just makes it easy for folks not to LEARN HOW to write. And now, everyone who uses it has the same writing voice. My neighbor teaches freshman writing at a local junior college, he now has the midterm test writing assignment done in the class room computers. Students that were making an A on their home work are failing at a 70% rate.

many people don't have time to go back to school for a year to learn how to write better.

@@JalomMatia You don't have to go back to school to learn to write better. The easiest way to learn to write better is by reading.

1-people with jobs already and kids have very little time to reaps heaps of books.
2-reading alone does not help very much, you need to read, and write, and receive training inorder to submit formal professional writing. It requires a lot of time learning how.

    • @almoemason
      @almoemason Před 17 dny +1

@@JalomMatia You are WRONG. Reading helps you learn to write a lot. Just like when you are trying to learn a foreign language, hearing native speaker helps a lot. And as to your second point, are you talking about those same people that have plenty of time to do Facebook and Tic Tok or play video games for hours on end? EVERYONE can make 30 minutes a day to read a book.

@@almoemason i am not wrong, i know that reading helps to write better, but that is just one small part. you cannot improve your writing skills by just reading alone, you need technical training and writing, and correction from a teacher. and in order to be able to write very well with no mistakes, it takes years of practice.
