Hall and Oates "Sara Smile" "Maneater" "One on One" "Private Eyes" there are tons and tons of hits from these guys. Please do more! And...I'll keep watching 😁
They have such a history together. Daryl went to School with Kenny Gamble who with his future Partner Leon Huff helped epitomize Philly Soul. Daryl met John Oates in an Elevator while they were both Students at Temple University and this song is next to "I Can't Wait" by Nu Schooz the most sampled song in Pop Music. Alot of their Hits were Written by Daryl's Former Girlfriend Sara Allen who was the inspiration for Sara Smile and Sara's Late Sister Jana. At last report she's a Real Estate Agent who never bought attention to herself.
@@joevonloser00 It was inspired when John got stood up on New Year's Eve. They were also voted by Vibe along with Culture Club, Teena Marie, Dusty Springfield, Joe Cocker and even Taylor Dayne and Stacey Q as some of the best Blue Eyed Soul Singers of all time.
When this song came out, amongst the others from Hall and Oates, I always have to stop and dance! I was lucky enough to see them live in concert and they were amazing to say the least!
Early 80s, I remember watching this on MTV when the song was released. Thanks for the memories. Just too early to really appreciate how good the song was.
I love watching people react to this song, especially when it’s a pretty lady like Mel because as funky and bad ass the intro hits you it’s nothing compared to the look on her face when they see Darryl Hall. Right now Mel’s thinking about climbing him like a Christmas tree!
Love these 2. Daryl Hall is a great singer and he's still rocking, singing and looking great at age 70. Check out the videos Live from Daryl's House. He performs with Smokey Robinson, Cee Lo Green and others.Sara Smile...is great and Man Eater.
I love Hall and Oates! The had mega hits in the late seventies and the eighties! I’m fact, the eighties were their best decade by far, they could do no wrong! They were known as the best of “blue-eyed soul”! One of their biggest inspirations was The Temptations and I remember they did performances with former Temptations, David Ruffin and Eddie Kendricks in the eighties!
Huge Rabbit hole to go down with them. They still hold the record for Best Duo with the most hits! Please do more!! Private Eyes,You Make My Dreams Come True ,Kiss On My List,Maneater,Rich Girl,She`s Gone,Sara Smile..I can keep going lol
This is my favorite song from their discography. It topped the R&B as well as the pop charts - no small feat. Fun fact: this song was written as a push back to the music industry who were pretty much taking advantage of their talent (and many others).
Takes me way back to my early childhood. I was about 7 when this album came out. My big brother introduced me to these guys. Loved them since. Great duo!
This is one of the Smoothest Vibes to come out of the 80's. for a little more funky feel check out Daryl's house . I cant go for that with Cee lo Green. Loved your reaction!
I think I have watched this reaction at least twenty times. Great song and great reaction. Love it when others find old music that I have loved for years. Keep on keeping on.
Shawn & Mel, can’t express how much I appreciate you waiting until the end of the song to give your reaction. Really disappointed in those folks who have channels that interrupt the song to make some sort of comment that could wait until the end! Enjoyed your input a lot and will definitely be back to see more of your channel!
check out a singer named Gino Vannelli "i just gotta stop" "Living inside myself" "Brother to brother" "Storm at sunup" "Hurts to be in love" "Wild Horses" "Sunset on L.A."
Love it. Did you notice that the opening music and backbeat is identical to MJ's Billie Jean? Play it- you'll see. MJ admitted to Hall and Oates at the time that he pinched their music, but they agreed to let him have it without any legal troubles.
Yes!!! Sarah Smile next! Smooth Philly Blue-Eyed Soul. De La Soul used this for their song “Say No Go”. By the way, this is an Excellent song to skate to; perfect flow 🛼🛼🛼
PLEASE react to Hall & Oates...."POSESSION OBSESSION". This is an often overlooked song of theirs that got a radio play. It features John singing lead with Darryl singing backup. Its very old school R&B style. You will like it as well as your H&O fans rediscovering this lost gem. Look for the official music video on CZcams with John as a cab driver.
Daryl has a show called Live From Daryl’s House. You should check out the version of this song, featuring CeeLo Green. They kill it. Daryl’s House is quite the rabbit hole to go down. So many great artists have played with him. His house band are crazy good.
WHEN, when, when will someone do a music reaction to John Oates singing "Possession Obsession". John normally sings backup, but on this song he sings lead. Look for the official music video where John is driving a taxi. It has that classic old school R&B vibe. PLEASE. Y'all be the first reactors on this song.
One of my favs. However, it's not at all what most people think it's about. It's not anything sexual. They were expressing their frustration with their record company pressuring them to keep producing the same kind of hit material all the time and this song is about them pushing back on them in a read between the lines kind of way. "I cant go for that, no, no,no, no can do".
This is fire. Try Cee Lo Greene at Daryl's House. It's the main singer, Daryl, having guests in his studio at his home. They have an incredible jam with this. You will not be disappointed. Like your reactions. Nice couple.
Thanks for that, it's a rabbit hole that's deep. Check out live from daryls house everybody from smokey Robinson to Joe Walsh. Daryl is the blonde., lead singer top selling duo of all time. Thanks again.
Enjoyed you. Give your subscribers want they want, not what you want. This journey has just begun for you. The farther back you go the more amazed you will become. I am back to Cab Callaway, Al Jolson.
During the "We are the World" concert, Michael Jackson confided to Darrell Hall that he borrowed (without asking) the beginning of this song to use for the beat of his hit song, "Billy Jean".
My first time watching one of your reaction videos - You guys have such a welcoming and upbeat energy. And who doesn't fall in love with Hall and Oats? Do you guys ever react to classic rock stuff? If you want to hear a masterpiece of orchestral rock and roll, check out the band Yes. The song Roundabout. Your mind will be blown! czcams.com/video/cPCLFtxpadE/video.html (don't listen to a live version - this is definitely studio music.)
Absolutely love your reactions. Please do a reaction to How Can I Help You Say Goodbye....the version by Laura Branigan. A touching, emotional song. I know you like Laura´s Power of Love. I think you will like the song.
Hello, how you all doing? Well, I’m the guy that wrote the long story the other day on “Stevie Ray Vaughan” and I see that you have got turned on to some “Hall & Oates” I’ll try not to go too long but, I’ve seen them if I can count them (8) times at least from driving to Las Vegas in 92, to a free concert in 78, to (2) different county fairs, once at The Wiltern Theater in LA, once at House of Blues for my (5th) year wedding anniversary and one time by winning tickets by a radio station to see them live at the Universal Amphitheater, Hollywood, Once at The Grove in Anaheim So, yeah I got a lot of memories of all those shows from getting a song request from them, to having my daughter on my shoulders when she was five years old sporting a Hall & Oates baseball cap, to two different times getting guitar picks from both “Darryl and John” so, yeah to say I’m a true fan but, not only that, I know their music really well from when I was just twenty-one in 1975 to now. Well, if I may I’d like to suggest a song that not too many people know of, it’s off their 1997, album Marigold Sky called, “I don’t think so” it’s one I always liked from that album and it’s pure “Hall & Oates” with a verse of “Good times and the bad times” I hope you play it, you won’t be disappointed...go in peace! Thank you.. Mr. Rene Moët
Did you know that Michael Jackson stole the baseline from this song for his song Billie jean and then he told John oats sorry and he said no problem John was honored
I’m obsessed with this song lol. It’s soooo good!
I can't get it out of my head.
Rich Girl, One on One and She's Gone are all bangers by Hall and Oates!
Hall and Oates "Sara Smile" "Maneater" "One on One" "Private Eyes" there are tons and tons of hits from these guys. Please do more! And...I'll keep watching 😁
They have so many great songs...Sarah Smile, Maneater and on and on!😊🎶🎶

I love Hall & Oats. Their music takes me back. You should hear Sarah's Smile by them. Love it!
Fun fact..Hall and Oates are the best selling duo in rock history.

The coolest song of the 80s. Hall and Oates are serious.
I think I have watched this reaction at least twenty times. Great song and great reaction. Love it when others find old music that I have loved for years. Keep on keeping on.

Very Motown hall and oats. Iconic hit masters.

One of my favorite jams!! ❤
My favorite song os "maneater", and "i can Go for that"

Love it. Did you notice that the opening music and backbeat is identical to MJ's Billie Jean? Play it- you'll see. MJ admitted to Hall and Oates at the time that he pinched their music, but they agreed to let him have it without any legal troubles.
Pretty sure that was from Maneater
Extended version: Darryl Hall and CeeLo Green from Live at Darryl’s House.
Another 45rpm I have that I still play regularly. Great musical duo. Dreamy.
Yes!!! Sarah Smile next! Smooth Philly Blue-Eyed Soul. De La Soul used this for their song “Say No Go”. By the way, this is an Excellent song to skate to; perfect flow 🛼🛼🛼

Y'all gotta check out all of their stuff! I grew up on this music. I'm still stuck in that time frame with music 🎶
Daryl Hall liked that base line so much after hearing Billy Jean by Michael Jackson, he told him he was gonna use it
This song crossed over to the R&B side and even charted there.
Cause it’s R&B right?
@primeminister66 blue eyed soul.
i think "She's Gone" and "Sara Smile" are their best.
One of my favorite ❤
Great song!!! I love what you two do!!! Keep up the good work!!!
Hall and Oates: "Man eater", "You make my dreams" and "Kiss is on my list". ❤️❤️❤️
Be sure to check out "Out of Touch" - one of my favorite hits of theirs!

He sings his ass off in that song, too. I remember the video
A favorite!!!

Blue eyed soul music. Thanks you for the review.
Appreciate you letting the song play!!!!!!!!
Some claim Michael Jackson stole the basic track for his song "Billie Jean"
Michael apologized to Daryl, for stealing it ,when he met him...it' s on you tube.
@@bigdaddymojo2005I thought Quincy did MJ beats and wrote music in Billie Jean era🤔
