- To many people, the vietnam war was a conflict between the United States on the side of South Vietnam and the Viet cong and the army of North Vietnam. However many other countries were keen to stop the spread of communism in SouthEast Asia, and one of these countries keen to fight were Australia and their elite Special Air Service Regiment

A lot of people don’t realise how ferocious the SASR and Australian infantry was during Vietnam, thx for sharing this🇦🇺🤝🇬🇧
Yeah it's often viewed as an American war so is important to inform people about the people involved 👍
@@CuriosityQuestions Ye ikr it just sucks when little countries like New Zealand,Australia and Canada don’t get often talked about during war when they have some of the most terrifying troops on the fucking planet🤙
Yes, certainly after the Battle of Long Tan, and other engagements, the NVA & Viet Cong were ORDERED not to attack any Australian force steer clear!!!
I just learner Australia was in the war and apparently the Viet Cong were really scared of us
My grandfathers little brother was in the sas, the agent Orange made a mess of him, he's still alive and working but struggles sometimes
AATTV... "The Team" is the most decorated unit in the Australian Army. 4x VCs!!
For people who want to read more about Australian involvement in the Vietnam war, you can read the book called “No need For Heroes”. I suggest it. It’s from the commander of No.3 Field Troop
it was also said by an NVA officer that, if possible avoid contact with Australian units.
Know a Vietnam war era SASR based outside of Lithgow, NSW. Won’t talk about VC contacts, but loves to tell the story of the sleeping tiger who infiltrated their camp and kept them bunked up for the next three hours till they could find a quiet way to dispatch him.
I used to love reading about the Vietnam War, yet it was only through the television series neighbours that I actually heard the Australian's where there. It was so played down, it is hard to know about them. I heard the British SAS had people seconded to the SASR during this time as well. Not sure how true. It is good to hear the full extent of Australia's actions in the war.
G'day Luke I am an Aussie from Brisbane checking out this video. our boys certainly did serve. I notice you're comment it 11 months old. Been a movie out called Danger Close about the Aussie holding out and fighting in the rubber plantations. Been on net flix and all. see you can find it as it is from a true story and shows what Aussie's are made of. Also another one is the odd angry shot if you find that movie as well. Cheers mate
@@allanphillips3749 fraid it has not made it onto UK Netflix. Just looked. Will keep an eye out. Thanks.
Odd Angry Shot is a good movie! It was about the Aussie SASR whereas Danger Close was about the regular army.
@@lukesearle1302 Luke. Use a VPN to change your address to a different country(like Australia) and then log in. You can get One Months Free Subscription so it won’t cost you. Both are good movies to watch. G.
A View From a Low Bow....
One of the best Vietnam books lve read..
Bloke from WA cd speak French and Vietnamese so he was seconded to the Yank Green Berets. .
Pretty surprising book honest as fk.
Fascinating!
Plenty of stories where the SASR would snatch VC officers in the middle of the night leaving playing cards as a sign
Anyone looking to explore a living and breathing Vietnam experience should checkout the ARMA DLC SOG Prairie Fire.
Thanks for this video. Very interesting and informative. That's a sun from me dude
True Warriors
How to joing Ο.Υ.Κ. ? (Greek special forces called Underwater demolition command)
I'll add them to the list :)
@@CuriosityQuestions great, thanks a lot. Also, Im glad that I found you this early, I feel like you can reach half a million by the end of the year
Sorry, i missed your comment. That's great to hear, even tho i find that unlikely itd be mental if that was the case :)
@@CuriosityQuestions don't worry mate, I still do believe that that channel can grow a lot, maybe if youtube reccomendations push one of your videos once or twice
Now that i cant leave the house im gonna try and go back to doing uploads once every week or every two weeks. What would be your preference?
Kill rate. A failed matrix by every measure.
Bloody McNamara.
You are forgetting the long tan battle that the Australins killed up to 500 vc in 2 days so you should add another 500 vc deaths to the Aussies
The video's not about that.
Don’t forget the Forces of South Korea
There were blokes in ordinary units who should have been decorated for braver deeds but were denied.Say nomore.
