So after LITERAL YEARS (like at least 5) the System Shock Remake is finally here, and frankly, it's everything I wanted it to be. Yeah, I'll be the first to admit that the development went far from as planned, but the end product has great gameplay and is a faithful recreation of the original game. Heck, I was able to directly reference my old playthrough of the original system shock as a walkthrough whenever I was feeling frazzled, it was THAT close!

czcams.com/video/IF-nP69SlvM/video.html just in case you were wondering, the original System Shock is just as good of a time too!
How to solve the "my inventory is almost full and I got a bunch of stuff to scrap" problem: Drop your guns to make space, pick everything up, scrap it, pick youor guns back up :)
I hope this game sells well. The guy in charge of the company has admitted they don't expect to make money on this, but they're doing well enough on their remaster sales that it's not an existential issue.
But damn this love for the source material deserves to be rewarded. Updates what needs to be updated, keeps enough to still be very recognizable as the original System Shock.
Indeed. The experience could use some minor touch ups here and there, but it's an otherwise solid campaign.
System Shock 1 is a very niche game in an already niche genre of immersive sims and it's not nearly as famous as it's sequel so the fact that it already has over 1000 reviews on steam is pretty impressive
It’s racked up over 1,000 reviews already, so that might be a good sign
I'm glad they got this one finished before the company got sold to Atari.
@@prossnip42 I can't tell if it's my personal CZcams bubble or what, but everyone and their mother is reviewing and praising the remake, so that bodes well for exposure.
Thank God Night Dive did what Arkane couldn't this year 🙏
Probably best to keep an eye on the Arkane members that left to form their own studio...
No such thing but shoden!
@@blakecasimir Weird West. That is what they made. I haven't played it but it definitely looks interesting.

@@TREPLE I unfortunately don't have much time for gaming currently. It's definitely on my list of ever growing games I need to play/beat/buy.
He doesn't mention it in the video, but you can press T to switch ammo types and charge the mag pulse with a second shell, significantly increasing damage over time and makes an aoe where its shot, allowing you to kill multiple bunched up robots. On standard difficulty 2 charged magpulses will kill any robot until late game. Do not believe the mag pulse slander
I find it much easier to use in the remake as well, shooting it around corners in the original was a bit of a headache. I think they nerfed it just enough as still shreds robots just fine
Yep, it sounds like charlatan not only didn't mention it, but says kinda early on "I wish there was a button to swap ammo because right now it's just digging through menu's"
But yeah, the charged mag pulse is a great tool to knock out robots early on. I feel like if I ever decide to play a hard combat playthrough the magpulse will be a very tactical weapon.
You used to be able to unequip the weapon to safely discharge any shells you pumped in. I wish that was kept in.
@@jamesgrose510 you can holster weapons and then empty the ammo in them
Beware that charging up the magpulse costs 1 energy on your energy bar. I find this gun underwhelming, it actually has bullet drop and its damages are actually "sticky-spalsh", as in it will stick to the surface and damage everything around. Can't believe I wasted this over the grenade launcher.
Respect the source material - check
Respect fans' wishes - check
Create a cool artstyle - check
Improve only what needs to be improved - check
Optimize game prior to release - check
Well done, Nightdive! 🎉
"Respect the source material"
You can argue about this considering some weapons were removed and new ones were added,
"Respect fans' wishes"
Insert pretty much every single gameplay feedback that got thrown out of the window, and the game barely changed from the beta in any meaningful way besides mandatory bug fixes
"Create a cool artstyle"
Arguable but I'll give them a point because they didn't go for the generic realistic artstyle modern games use, though I wish it had an option to choose between high and low resolution textures
"Improve only what needs to be improved"
Added a recycling system that just adds annoyance because it's half baked, a crap ton of animations that can't be turned off and slows down the gameplay, extremely dumb AI that somehow got worse with the patch, unpredictable grenade rolling behavior, etc etc.
"Optimize the game prior to release"
That's something I can agree on. My old computer runs this game with ease on high settings.

Nothing ever pleases you because you love being a contrarian.
@@aldiascholarofthefirstsin1051 See, this is the problem with modern gaming. You criticize a game, you get a lot of hate even if you were respectful. Unless the game is generally accepted to be 'bad', then you get hate for liking it.
@LordTrashcanRulez I like the game.
Nightdive's founding was based on re-releasing system shock. Failure was not an option to them. And they knew and loved what was great in system shock.
Charlatan missed the prompt saying “PRESS T TO SWITCH AMMO TYPES”
is there a button to vaporize ?
@@k0lpA There's a button to back to a previous menu but instead it exits the menu
Wiithout a shadow of a doubt, this is one of the best remakes of a classic game in videogame history. Basically, it's to System Shock as Black Mesa was to Half-Life. Phenomenal job from Nightdive.
They did so good remaking the map. Its so recognizable
This is really the most amazing things. I played the original 4 years ago and I walk into a room of the remaster and I go “oh yeah the cpus are around the corner”. Amazing work!
In regards to the ammo switching thing for the guns that have multiple ammo types: You can use the "change weapon mode" key (The default is T) and it will cycle ammo when you run out of a certain type.
Was looking to make sure someone said it
It's freakin amazing. I'm basically playing it nonstop since it released. I think that their decision to restart the development to get rid of the more modern approach and game mechanics in favour of staying true to the original was the right one. There are moments (especially when i'm exploring for a long time) when i ALMOST feel like they COULD throw in a bit more content here and there, but then it wouldn't be the Shock as we knew and loved.
Which is what they managed in a pretty amazing, spot-on way. I love the voxelized graphics, i love the original sprites you hallucinate during hangover. I love the levels, the colors, the sounds. The atmosphere is GREAT.
Nightdive NAILED it.
I got just a few, VERY minor gripes.
1.I often get stuck in shallow depressions in the floor. There are these occasional ditches that look completely safe to traverse, but if you fall in them, you cannot climb back out.
2.Mouse buttons 4&5 cannot be mapped to anything, the game just doesn't see them
3.It's impossible to split stacks of items, which makes effective inventory management somewhat bothersome, but that's really a minor thing
4.And the last thing - and that's probably my biggest issue with ReShock, is the voiceover. Although SHODAN is fine, and most of the "realtime" communication is also ok, the voice-logs you're finding around the station are quite a bit weaker.
I know that the original is pretty much a benchmark of top-tier quality voiceover work, so it's very hard to fairly judge ANYTHING next to it. But after listening to few of the voice logs, i noticed that i'm a bit annoyed by them. The original SS had fantastic production, the actors were great and there was A LOT of atmospheric sound FX UNDER the voiceovers. It felt real. What we got here are commited, but overall just average actors - and a bit of white noise.
The OG voice "acting" was horrible. Just a bunch of programmers speaking emotionless into a microphone.
Yes, the original vo was amateurish. And that's what made it work. The flat, off beat delivery made the logs odd and interesting. The new ones are just competently acted.
The only voice acting that was good in the original was Rebecca Lanzigs messages, and Shodan. Everything else was serviceable to downright bad.
It's especially noticeable in the audio logs that were recorded during Shodans reign of terror, where alot of the voice actors had really monotone voices that didn't convey any fear/anxiety in the character's that were struggling to survive. The ones recorded before Shodan started really going crazy were fine because it's just average Trioptimum employees recording themselves talking normally. It can get away with sounding amateurish in those ones because it fits the scenario
But yeah, one thing the original DID do well is have alot of appropriately fitting background noise during the audio logs. A major example is when characters were recording themselves while fighting against Shodan's forces, you can hear gun shots, explosions, short circuiting noises, cyborg chatter, bodies dropping on the floor etc going on in the back ground
@@JDelwynn Well, i should prolly point out that i barely spoke english back then, so this might be a case of memberberries/nostalgia. Still, you need to compare it to the games of 1994, not with todays standards.
@@flare242 I didn't understand english either back then. Yes, the voice acting in general was pretty bad back then, but that doesn't suddenly make it better.
You were pretty much right on the money, 3 to 5 years is the average time for a game from pre-production to release.
So this game took between 1 4/5 and 3 times as long to make as the average game
I was reading that you can essentially use a walkthrough for the original game in this one It's that faithful to the original. Good to hear. I know they had setbacks but they probably just kept on keeping on and did it. Glad to hear. I like Nightdive and wish them more continued success in the future.
Walkthrough is kind of essential I think, the game loves to waste your time.
And it isn't woke!

Pretty good. I see nothing but praise, and it looks hypnotic. Happy for the developers after that rocky road
This was not made by people who played System Shock. This was made by people who *_LOVE_* System Shock.
This is the epitome of a passion project with focus. Delays weren't done to push graphics engines to their breaking point (Cyberpunk 2077), and they weren't done to add meaningless bloat features (Duke Nukem Forever); the delays were done to make it not just _look_ like System Shock, not even to _FEEL_ like System Shock, but to *_BE_* System Shock.
Pretty sure it was made by people who played system shock
@@Chris97538Because they were asked to, after having completed the Kickstarter pitch which alleged that they had played it growing up when they hadn't.
the thing i love most about the remake is i love how they take the cassette futurist sci-fi style of the original and really lean heavily into that. the tech is big and chunky with outdated but functional utilitarian sensibility
I am pretty sure that the recharge station, restoration bay, cyborg conversion thing is in the base game! There are mines next to the restoration bay though so if you approach it from the wrong direction the entire thing gets blown up and is unusable for the rest of your run. You might have accidentally blown it up and believed that to be unavoidable and just kept playing.
Oh don't worry. You don't really "die" anyways :P
Whoops, looks like Charlatan didn't bother to check button mapping :)
The default button to quickly switch between ammo types, toggling laser pointer or loading an extra charge in mag-pulse is "T"
Here’s the thing, SS1 is a dungeon crawler adventure game in a cyber punk setting while SS2 is a Surviva Horror rpg immersive sim with a sci fi setting. They are practically in two separate genres and it’s why I vastly prefer ss1 over 2
The ART style is perfect ❤️
The level of detail is amazing.
I absolutely love the remake, kudos to Nightdive.
The final thoughts section of you talking about art not being content really resonated with me
Thank you so much
Personally adore the artstyle for the game. Love the "low res" high res textures on the models.
24:03 That was in the original game too. The surgery machine was mined so while you could use it, if you got too close the mines would destroy the machine. You could access it via a puzzle door on the upper level of the hub.
yup. and the mines are still there in the remake, its just that unlike in the original surgery machines are unbreakable
Glad to see that you recovered after the disaster which Redfall was!
24:00 The wiki references this room in the original and I remember it!
It looks almost identical to what I remember from the original game.
In the original, though, there were two land mines that could easily destroy the bed. You had to use the Riot Gun’s rubber bullets to shove them away without setting them off, THEN destroy the mines to make the area safe to use.
Big tip for you man, so if you press T with a weapon out and have the alternative ammo, you’ll automatically switch to that ammo type, same goes for weapons like the Sparq except it’ll cycle through the shock levels
this is awesome! I'm glad it ended up being worth the wait.
I am glad to see the positive reception from people as I was concerned about the game before release!
Despite I've beaten the 2nd game around 5 times, I am still new to the series and have only played a small portion of the 1st one. However I got really excited for this remake! And I am glad it doesn't disappoint.

It really helped that I had recently replayed the original game and had it fresh in my head.
That convenient medical bed next to the respawn point in Engineering was indeed there in the original as well. Although the room was mined and if you (or an enemy) triggered any of them then the medical bed would be blown up beyond repair.
Also, there is three Diego fights in the original. Though one is optional and only happens if you take the bait to head for the escape pods.
Wait, there's a respawn AND medical bed in engineering? I already blew up the antennas and explored most of the level, where are they?
@@RD-bc7js Walk down the corridor straight ahead from the starting elevator (dont turn left/right). When that corridor takes a sharp 90 degree turn to the right, look to the left instead and there should be a door there. Behind the door is a ramp that leads to the general area with the respawn/bed, it should be somewhere close to the map center.
@Rmmmike No, the escape pods are optional. Level 8 doors open when you activate the self destruct sequence (presumably because SHODAN sends an army from Security to the lower decks then)
24:00
That ultra healing room is in the original, but is a pain to get to and is shortly before the third antennae you destroy. Reason why so many missed it is that it's basically in the floor. Have to go down a lift that is really easy to miss to get to it. There is a text log saying that the ultra heal room was an after thought and they had to put it there. Trust me, it's there. Best part is that the surgery station has mines around the whole thing as a trap since those stations can be destroyed.
CORRECTION: The ultra heal room is right next a switch which when flipped says "Core Locks disengaged". Can be found just a few tiles away from that switch.
Which is why you use the riot gun!... which they don't have here... :
@@GlareanLiebertine You technically don't need to use the riot gun for the mines since you can activate the surgery station a bit away so you don't have to set off the mines or move them.
Glad you had a fun time with this game Char! Excited about the Amnesia vid 🎉
I don't know who first said "System Shock is a first person Metroid" but I think the concept fits. You gain new abelites and can access old areas easier as time goes on. Immersive sim builds on this by giving the player more options for getting to the next sequence and potentially more routes to the same location.
System Shock 1 is a cyber punk first person Metroid (before prime) while System Shock 2 is a sci fi survival horror rpg. They are practically two different genres
@@billyboleson2830 I understand that. We can also talk about a shooter with RPG elements vs an RPG with shooter aspects. Super Bunnyhop and Errant Signal were some good essayists on video games, and I believe one of them is the source of my quoted observation.
MandaloreGaming said it first.
@@Psytinker Ok - thanks for the correction. That is another good channel to follow.
Sure, if you have an embarrassingly surface-level knowledge of the medium
I'm currently enjoying it, it's awesome!
It's particularly good to get a new PC release in 2023 that isn't a completely broken mess.
Replayed Enhanced edition a while ago and pretty sure that the surgery machine (along with restoration bay and energy) was always in Engineering. It had a bunch of mines next to it so it was easy to destroy. Same with encountering Diego in Executive levels after that room with all the cyborgs
Thank you for your lovely video and kitty update at the end
Great review! Thanks for posting!
A good compromise for what you said about being able to scrape working weapons is lock out any weapons that have gotten an upgrade kit attached, and lockout hard to find weapons that only have 1 or 2 in the game. I spent the first level bringing all the junk on that level into the recycler since you get more credits for not vaporizing them. And I had to do some quick scrapping later on but managed to have a few credits left over by end of game. But I could see how it would get tedious, I wish medipatch didn't run out in vending machines though. Would be a good use for those extra credits if you really needed them.
It was better than expected, but still wish there was an original soundtrack option
A couple things to note: you fight Diego on three occasions in the original game. Once in his quarters on Executive, again next to the escape pods, and lastly before you go to the Bridge, where you finally kill him.
As for the respawn bay in Engineering, that did exist in the original (every level save for the Bridge has a respawn bay) and the original had the same healing suite and energy station combo
Thank you for making awesome art! love how this remake looks and will have to try it out once my broken hand heals.
til next time keep on keeping on
Great stuff as always, never played any of the system shocks but what I've seen I'd love to give this ago. Praying for a consol port
This would be a candidate for a great community VR mod, but It would probably be absolutely terrifying.
My god, you Charlatan! I wasn't ready for this early!
a bunch of people liked a picture of Frisk so I had to do it.
Thanks for keeping this review exciting and positive. Huge fan and can’t wait to play it. 👍👍
Whoever doesn't enjoy this game is out of their goddamn mind. This game is STILL lightyears ahead of its time. Customising each aspect of the difficulty to define exactly what kind of playstyle you want instead of just having basic difficulty settings. Don't like puzzles? set puzzles to 1, Suck at shooting? Set combat to 1 XD. You make the game your own experience! This also adds replayability too, since u could try all the different settings see how the game changes. Still the most unique looking fps game out there, with one of the greatest gaming villains of all time. In the world we are living in now which is plagued with battle royale\extraction shooters, this was a huge breath of fresh air. There is a reason this is the most influential game of all time, it is absolutely fantastic.
Great video once again CW, I'm glad you went full time youtuber, you're quickly becoming my favorite game reviewer (my main yt genre)
Fun fact, the laser rapier you collect on executive changes colour based on what colour theme your HUD is set to in options, enjoy!
It makes me happy to know that Charlatan enjoyed this one. That’s an informed purchase for me. Well, it’s been a while since I’ve seen a video from you Charlatan. Subbed to fix that.
I just discovered your channel from this video alone. I remember being that kid back when BioShock first came out on the Xbox 360 that would look up the games that "inspired" such a series then find a way to play the originals. I always found it funny how BioShock was always compared to System Shock 2 instead of System Shock 1, and actually at the time nobody really talked about System Shock 1 which always puzzled me and made it much more interesting almost like this great mystery. Anyway thanks for the review, subbed.
I really love the games aesthetic. We’ve been getting a lot of good sci-fi-ish games this year
I think this game came out at the right time. This game suffers some serious problems that are overlooked due to the fact that every other game released this year has been a dumpster fire.
it took em a while, but aint it nice that it worked out, for once, this time~?
In a sea of videos that are akin to canned food and microwave meals, Charlatan Wonder is the guy sitting on the side of the road trying to sell produce he grew in his backyard.
Not gonna watch this till after playing. But that title bodes so well. I'm psyched
Apparently some meds make you hallucinate the original enemy sprites
I’ve been playing the shit out of it. The only things I don’t like are the slightly floaty rapier combat, the shortage of funky beats, and the bridge not being all H.R Geiger like
The SS remake is a true masterpiece. We hope part 2 follows also as remake
Gods that bit on content vs art? That made me tear up, thank you. fuck the corporate machine, fuck the monetization of art into bland, easily reproduce content. Art is made by people, people who think, who feel, who have ideas. It will never go away.

Sadly indeed.
It's more of an unholy marriage of corporatism and dangerous ideologies. Art CAN be created under a corporation if they're more hands off, but things like ESG represent the outright death of art. Billionaires providing monetary incentives as well as borderline extorting corpos into neutering their products from inception.
I'm all up for "almost immersive sims". Give me great level design, solid world building and believable array of weapons/instruments. Be it FPS or stealth. I wouldn't care if you can't stack boxes or blow up doors. I think Bioshock is the prime example of this.
You can stalk some boxes in bioshock 1
Extremely good analysis, i think I'm going to try out that reverse chronological playthrough ❤
A few things: You do fight Diego three times in the original, at least on difficulty setting 3, which is what I played on the OG and the remake as well.
Once in his secret executive area, along with the security and exec bots firstly.
Then the Flight Deck when you're heading for the life pods.
Then the area just before the Bridge.
The medical/recharge area in Gamma Quadrant on the upper levels is also in the original as well, but it's difficult to get to and has a very hard puzzle keeping the door locked. Similarly to the remake in most ways though, and you can deactivate all upper level locks after unlocking the upper Gamma Quadrant.
Oh yeah, and in the original, the surgery bed has live landmines around it, so you have to be careful when using it or if enemies spawn around it. I remember a bunch of Security-1 Bots showing up during one point and destroying everything lol.
There were a few other inaccuracies in what you've said was in the original vs the remake, but regardless, I've enjoyed your review and really liked the review you made for the original as well. Nice work.
Watching this around 8 months after the video came out.
One thing that I wish to correct is: Immersive Simulations have been a thing since 1992, with the original Ultima Underworld. The term was originally coined in 1991, by Paul Neurath, in a few interviews that he did, after the game debuted that year. System Shocks design concept is a refinement of what was started in the original Underworld; they wanted to simulate the games world as much as possible.
As far as Proto-Im-sims, there is one that I know of. That would be Space Rogue, which came out in 1987. That game is an RPG, with first-person space flight sections. The spaces flight, as well as a few other things, were simulated. Paul was impressed with how these immersed the player, and wanted to expand on those concepts as much as possible.
I absolutely adore the Mod-Kits because they allow you to use literally every weapon into the end game, allowing you to make loadouts that really work well together instead of just taking whatever gun is actually suited for the current enemies you're facing. By the end of the game I went into the Bridge carrying a fully modded Minipistol for sniping and clearing out fodder, a fully modded Magnum for instakill headshots against a lot of enemies, the Assault Rifle with the Full Auto mod as my 'oh shit' damage hose, the Railgun for extremely high burst damage and the Ion Rifle to conserve ammo when I was around energy recharge stations.
I'd turned the med-room in Maintenance into my own little armoury where I laid out all the guns I had stockpiled (with mods) and sat there for a solid ten minutes as I deliberated exactly what I thought I'd need going into Security since I knew I couldn't bring them all and couldn't come back for them. A solid 5 minutes of that time was stuck contemplating whether I thought the Ion Rifle or the fully modded Mag Pulse would be more useful.
I'm doing a second run right now where I'm trying to use weapons I didn't use as much originally and I'm having a blast with the Grenade Launcher, SMG and fully modded Sparq Beam.
IDK there's something about your gameplay that makes the game look so much more fun than other people's clips. I was going to wait for a sale but I actually think I may pick it up now.
Nightdive knocked it out of the park. Great visual style and updated combat. Love the new grid inventory and Prey like recycling station.
I got lucky because I went full clepto mode with all the little things I found on the way. By the time I got to the recycler I had a lot of cash. So that was a good idea it seems. I am currently on the floor 2 (research) after cleaning the whole first floor. Yes, I did push the button to see what would happen. Yes, I did save before doing it and then reladed the save. This game is pretty cool!
the mini pistol was in System Shock OG, it was called the ML Minipistol, its named after Marc LaBlanc from Looking Glass
I remember thinking I liked the florescent lighting a lot better in the Unity version, AND you could smash the protective glass back then, I loved that. (haven't gotten the full game yet, who know maybe you can do that again)
Great review. As a console player I must say I am positively hyped! Oh and I also use Purple UI in Cyberpunk 2077, found it under colorblind settings 😂
The OST is a + for ambiance but a - for funk.
24:35 Actually you fight Eward Diego 3 times. As newcomer to System Shock my first reaction to entering the reactor overload code was to go to flight deck and yeeet myself via the lifeboats but Diego intercepts you there as well before he gets captured and turned into a knockoff Adam Smasher by Shodan.
The end credits song says it best

Excited to dig into this game, I pre ordered it sooo long ago doesn’t feel real that it’s out
Finally, the good ending for a story like this. I will gladly play this game soon
I only noticed the lighting issue once so far on my playthrough. It was during one of the wiring puzzles and the light sheen was directly covering the little power bar showing me how much I needed which made me have to fight w/ the camera to get a good enough view of it to know what I was trying to do. Other than that I think the graphics are great.
Edit: This was one of those "other types of puzzles". So yes they do still appear on the hardest difficulty and involve trying to power a capacitor to a specific range by moving wires and switches. Oddly enough I find them much easier than the turny puzzles.
To anyone else who wants to know the game works really well on steam deck and i recommended putting all graphics settings on low but put shadows and textures to high or ultra
As a long time viewer and a first time commenter just wanted to say a couple things. Glad this turned out good and Cat. Cat good.
When it came to the six digit code in my playthrough of System Shock Remake I actually added an additional save on each area in the station that had a number so I wouldn't lose track because I was just too lazy to write it on paper LMAO! I also would have to look up and Google search walkthroughs online from both IGN and GameSpot to see what I needed to do for progression and all. I would also look up walkthroughs of other players of the game on CZcams as well whenever I myself got lost. Nice video btw!
SHOCKING... reallly

I have been rewatching this entire channel and after watching the classic system shock vid I really wanted to play it but I don’t got a pc but the remake just launched on ps5 so here I am to see if I should buy it
The wire puzzles are in the game, they look slightly different but they show up if you have difficulty level 2 or 3 for the puzzles. Also the mag pulse gun is pretty strong if you charge your shots by pressing T first, played on combat difficulty 3 and it was my bread and butter gun for a good part of the game :D
I had trouble tracking down audio logs, I didn't want to outright search door combinations, so I wanted to find the transcripts that contained the info. I was getting caught by differences in the dialogue between old and new versions.
Development time is entirely dependent on game scale and the developer. People like Miziziziz on CZcams can pump out decently high quality indie games within a matter of months while many games can take upwards of 8 years to develop without even being considered to be in "development hell". For a team I'm personally working on a game with, we made our prototype in 3 months, and are giving ourselves 6 more months to turn it into a vertical slice demo to start marketing it, before hopefully after getting some funding/hype developing it for another 6 months to a year for release.
Man. Best way to perserve ammo in the system shock enhanced and classic was just to rely upon melee and energy weapons, marking down on the map (yes you can add notes to the map in the classic and enhanced games) where the energy stations are and simply hoarding ammo and using grenades on cpus and in emergency situations. Might be low on medical suplies throughout the game doing this but you are moderatly well stocked for the later levels past the groves.
You fight Diego 3 times. Once in his teleport office. Once at the escape pod. And right before entering the Bridge.
My only regret is no infinite health cheat to explore the deadly posiouness grove.
Even the enhanced addition has cheats disabled from the original game.
Shutgun was fun. You can find it in several places by the reactor laser level. What I did not bother with was the plasma gun - I did not know if they devs decided to put an actual hidded detachment of the bridge timer this time, and did not want to backtrack.
Magpulse indeed went unused fast. It felt like a emp mini shotgun than a turret melter in the original.
The level design is so good, I am replaying the enhanced addition much better since I know what to expect, keep an eye out, and where to go.
The engine is greatly setup for a System Shock 2 remake
i desperately wish they'd made some attempt at recreating the original game's dynamic music system. it's genuinely one of my favorite parts of the game
I always thought of system shock as more of a metroidvania than an imm sim.
Also I hope they add back getting a game over if you die without a resurrection station active on your floor. I really enjoyed how tense things were until you could find the station.
System Shock 2?
@@morkgin2459 what about system shock 2 I’m not talking about it?
@@doctoradventure413 well i meant what you think about that game? Im sim or metroidvania
@@morkgin2459 I haven’t played it yet I was waiting for the enhanced edition but I might just start it once I beat system shock. From what I’ve seen though it’s definitely an imm sim its level design isn’t nearly as maze like as the first game.
8:28 Me, who found this video shortly after getting to the final level of the game, and didn't know you could change that: "Fuck. :D"
Next up Marathon Remake, pls pls somebody make this happen cuz I think we can all agree that “reimagining” Bungie is doing is GOING to kill any remnants of that piece of history
Interesting how both Dead Island 2 and now this finally released after so damn long, I wonder what’s up with the System Shock 2 enhanced edition they mentioned awhile back
About a week ago, I was worried. But with this being great and finding out my friend did a bunch of voice acting in it, I now really need to get it.
