Honestly the worst part about survival is the fast travel. Fast travel makes this game way more fun. I could handle enemies in my regular playthrough super easily, but it’s just so fucking tedious to walk 8 hours, forget to sleep, and get jumped by a death claw and have to walk it all over again

I have to disagree with you. Bioshock felt a lot more dumbed down than system shock 2. Just so you know this is coming from someone who played bioshock multiple times over far before discovering system shock 2.

I think a very large thing to note here is that all of the CW's 'problems' of design with Alien Isolation are the exact same design features that were praised in the Outlast breakdown. I think what happened here is a case of "the game wasn't what I wanted" and not "the game is bad/poorly designed." It's a very linear, story based, run-and-hide horror game just like Outlast or Amnesia, or any other. Just because the art direction is incredibly strong and brings the world of Alien to life doesn't mean it should be criticized for not being a free-roam environment sim with a dedicated RPG upgrade tree and infinite ways to play. The game isn't trying to make you feel like you really work on the Sevastopol, it's trying to create a retro-fururist space station themed haunted house.

What I like about Infinite is that there are a lot of NPC-s who you don't have to kill. In the first two games there weren't many. I felt like "I'm in a video game". Even when 2 people dance and I interupt by showing up they try to kill me. And the VERY thing that I liked about Infinite is.... We don't arrive AFTER the downfall. We BRING it. All I see about Rapture is how wretched it is. They could have had a 1hour session where they show us what life was before 1959.
