- It's hard to put into words what Nick Saban has meant to so many people in Tuscaloosa and beyond, but we think our "Ode to the GOAT" sums it up pretty well.

I'm a Michigan fan but I absolutley love what Saban did at Bama. He built one of if not the most dominant dynasties in cfb history. He was so dominant that it was a huge deal when Bama lost a game. We will all miss you coach

As a die hard Buckeye fan I didn't know how sad I would be over Coach Saban retiring. The GOAT college coach and it's not even close. I'll always have all the respect in the world for what you accomplished, even though you kicked our butts in the 2020 NCG 😢😂. I enjoyed from afar seeing stories of Saban bringing his players out tubing on the lake and having karaoke parties at his house. Just always seemed like such a genuine good dude and it made me realize why all those 5 star players chose Bama to begin with. So cheers Nick to the best career any of us have ever witnessed, and no matter our allegiances we all wish you and Ms. Terry the absolute best in retirement. You earned it.

nick is an angel. he was the angel sent to alabama and NCAA football to make it what it is especially down south. from his arrival at the airport that was hectic with a intoxicated woman kissing him on the cheek....to the changing of the guard to coach deboers peaceful arrival tonight at tuscaloosa international.... im glad i got to witness all of it. coach saban now takes his throne among the others next to the football gods.
We will always be grateful you became our coach!you lifted us up when we were down! You revived our pride and returned our program to championship status just like you promised you would do on your first day! To quote our other great coach ,"you ain't nothing but a WINNER".ENJOY YOUR RETIREMENT!

When you were hired in late 2006, I could have never dreamed I'd see anything like what coach Bryant achieved show up in CFB history again.

You taught us to stick to the process and the results would take care of themselves. You are leaving this program in miles better shape than you found it and I am so grateful. Thanks coach. The last 17 years have been a ride. Teams have come and gone, rose and dropped off. Coach Saban always kept them in the hunt.
Texas fan here. Nick Saban truly is the GOAT. He can’t be replaced. What he’s done for Alabama was create the standard by which all other college teams wanted to reach. It’s sad to see him go. I think he had a few more years left, but who can blame him. He’s given his life to the sport and he wants to take it easy now. Thank you Coach Saban. Hookem Horns!

I dont know Alabama football without him. I've been strangely emotional since hearing the news. Ive even cried watxhing this tribute. It was one hell.of a ride. Thanks and roll tide to nick ms terry and his family. You all gave us so much of his time,we can never repay that lost family time. 0-8 lifetime against 9 or more win AU teams. And that means NEVER a national championship that went through a good AU team.
Bowden beat both 9 more win Miami and FL teams in his 2 NCs.

LOL. In the 5 seasons at AL where Saban did not beat an eventual 9 win AU team, 3 of those seasons Saban could have stopped AU from putting themselves in position to play for a NC. Saban failed all three times. It took another team stopping AU. 2010, 2013, 2017. I mean as a motivator, he couldn't get his players to respond to, "Do you want AU to win a NC?"
Nick helped me raise my kids on those action packed Saturdays. I always knew this day was coming but I never expected it to be this hard, thanks so much Coach.

I remember.. I was there for the year BEFORE Saban's first season.. and my dad told me.. *Made me look at him*... "Give Saban a YEAR... and he'll win us championships".... he wasn't lying.. I'm sure he'd be proud and sad to see Nick leaving.. just like how I see it.. SO MANY memories.. so many friends and family I've met with every year for Bama football in California.. will always say Roll Tide Roll!.. thank you Coach..

Thanks coach for all the memories it just flew by way too fast but we got to experience something special that most fan bases will never come close to. My two favorite memories of the Saban era 2nd & 26, 4th & 31.

I will never forget the day Coach came to Tuscaloosa. The news channels were covering the President Ford funeral while it was in Grand Rapids, MI. Then "we interrupt this program..." it was for a news conference with Coach Saban and Mal Moore as Saban was the new Alabama Crimson Tide coach. I know you had a vision, and Miss Terry had a vision for Bama. Thank you so much for a great run. Coach Saban, you are the GOAT! So happy for your retirement. You look good on GameDay. Glad we get to still see you, but you ARE missed.

So the word on the street is Saban is upset because of the NIL AND TRANSFER PORTAL. Iam happy that these kids are finally get something for their hard work instead of fatting the pockets of the college and the Coaching staff.
THESE KIDS HAVE MADE THESE COLLEGES AND COACHES RICH AND A LOT OF THEM LEAVE WITH NOTHING BUT MEMORIES.

I had thought earlier this season, that it should be relished, we can't guarantee that we would have such a Coach forever. Nevertheless I thought 4 or so more years, based on how things were going and the strength shown. When that first 6-6 regular season happened and honestly the team looked worse than Franchione's first year, I thought maybe his assistants were part of the keys to success. But I had seen MI St teams. And I still remember the shellacking of the Tide in Tuscaloosa by Rohan Davy(a mobile kid) so I also knew how formidable and devastating a team could be developed. AL was not even on the field that day in relative terms. Year 2, it was clear that this was going to leave all fans insecurities in the dust. Being an AL fan since 2008 was like that old reliable anything in life, it just worked. The teams played with great determination and skill. The coaching on display(watching a feed vs UGA in 2008 now that is clear). I wish you well, and please teach Wommack all about the 3-4-4 base, I am not excited about the 4-5-2. You are already missed, by those that have less value to your actual life. Hug some babies and grandbabies.

Nick Saban won't stay retired for long. He will be the next coach for the Florida Gators (starting with the 2025 Season) after they fire Billy Napier at the end of the 2024 College Football Season. You heard it here first (1/13/24).

There is nothing more dangerous than revisionist history. Let's not forget a few things. Saban should be remembered as a great defensive backs coach, the greatest all time recruiter, and a delegator.
But he was also a coward, a quitter and a dishonest man.
Saban actually started the dishonorable and deceitful practice of coaches leaving their jobs without warning while saying the exact opposite. So he should get credit for that too. First, he lied to LSU, and then he lied to the Miami Dolphins.
In regard to the Dolphins, Saban proved he was a coward by quitting after only two seasons into a five year contract. He had a losing record and left the Dolphins worse off than when he arrived. He quit and ran because he couldn't hack it. And once again, he made matters worse by lying to the Dolphins with a straight face just like he did with LSU.
So we come to 2024. And Saban is once again quitting while under contract. Coincidentally, the competition is getting tougher with Texas, the same team that just easily beat Alabama, and Oklahoma both joining the SEC.
And if that isn't enough, it's no secret that Saban has spoken out against the NIL. And although it's probably detrimental to college football, the NIL model levels the playing field and creates more parity. So by his actions, it appears that Nick Saban is against anything that allows other programs to compete on level playing field. "Rules for thee but not for me".
Finally, although Saban never actually spoke out against the transfer portal let's remember that it's been in effect for three years. Coincidentally, it's also been three years since he won his last championship in the covid shortened season played without fans in attendance.
Lying, cowardice, and quitting are also part of Nick Saban's legacy. If you're going to remember the good then you also need to remember the bad.
That’s bs, he was the head coach that guided all these schools to 7Nattys and being the DB’s coach will always be secondary to that. 2nd Dennis Franchone was the first to bolt on his team and I’m so glad so that means Saban didn’t start that trend so your facts being twisted is what should be remembered off da corner. Third he’s got many good players out of the transfer portal so again your facts are twisted. Maybe you stay completely away from da corner
