    You two are a joy to follow. Sweet people who love adventure and who are not afraid to try new things in new places. This fast paced, filmed perfectly and edited so well episode captured a groovy new adventure so well. Sometimes I don't know how you can do what you do, but I sure am glad you two know how to do it. Your videos are done so well and with such love that I feel that I am nearly with you guys. Please never stop doing what you do so well. Checking the fuel tank. & we have a couple months storage. I mentioned Seafoam in the fuel(s) like 50 videos ago. Seafoam has been around @ 100 years for boaters!!! You also can't really use too much. Buy it by the gallon & put it in fuel tank, outboard. It is actually better if once in the fuel, to run the engine/motor(s) long enough to get to the injectors/carburetors. And if you want to be Real safe for an extended storage, FOG the engines. Fogging oil is an ounce of protection saving a ton of headaches. People tend to forget, oil drains out of cylinder walls in a short period of time, causing DRY starts. DRY == Excessive Wear. It also reduces the formation of gum on cylinder rings,

    As a kid in Michigan, we always went to Eau Gallie in the winter for Christmas break to my aunt's house. (She worked at Cape Canaveral) I spent many enjoyable hours on Cocoa Beach. Loved my time there. This was back in the late 50's, early 60's. My aunt left the Cape and went to work for a company in the Orlando area. We later learned it was a property acquisition company for Disney World. Spent a lot of great time in Florida!!

      @@SailingOneLife It is Paradise Taveuni.Located on Taveuni Island at the south end of the Somosomo Strait. Run by a lovely ex-pat Australian couple, they have an incredible staff of locals and produce most of their own organic food. It was all but wiped out by Cyclone Winston in 2016. Diving by the resort is easily done self guided and had recovered well from the cyclone. The main dive sites are on Rainbow Reef to the north. Lots of shifting tidal currents mean a dive guide is needed, but all that flowing water brings abundant, colourful life. The island straddles the date line and in a nearby village there is a formal landmark or you can sit on a sing and play with time. As you can tell we kind of like the place. Oh, and the local beer is pretty good too.

    Hey guys, go to an airport that sells jet fuel and buy a couple of cans of Prist. It is a jet fuel antibacterial additive to stop all that crap. Now it wont take very much per tank so it should last a hell of a long time. I would estimate 1 can would easily provide protection for 400 to 600 gallons of diesel fuel. You may even find something at a parts store that would be less.
    Looking forward to you Pacific crossing.

I've seen others make the passage, seems like most I've seen it took 3 weeks to a month to reach French Polynesia, that's a lot of shifts on watch! I'm not pitching myself for the job, I'd love to do it, but A. I have no experience and B. I couldn't be without my 2 dogs for a week, let alone a month or more...

    I'm not sure why you are taking a break for so long. I'm sure you have a good reason. But I was curious as in why you chose to change the oil before you left verses doing it when you came back. I know oil has a shelf life. And it's shorter once it comes into contact with the air. But it doesn't really makes sense to me because isn't oil like really old fermented dinosaur juice? Anyways, when you go back to the states, I hope you guys have a great adventure. And yes, you guys really made a mess of your boat before you left! I usually have to clean up before I leave. But I guess you have a system that I don't know anything about. Now that I watched the rest of your video I see why you are coming back to America (insanity). I keep forgetting you guys are on a different time schedule. Because of reviewing, editing and just plain old living. I'm not criticizing just forgetting. It gets confusing because I see you every week and I feel like we are friends and we are conversating. But I'm just listening to your life that I missed because I was busy. I hope you had a great time in insanity (America). I'm on the other side of insanity, otherwise called Eugene Oregon. Kind of cold here but not bad. 40's and 50's. Obviously not good sailing weather unless there's something seriously wrong with you or you have a destination with a paycheck! But I kinda like it here. It reminds me of where I'm from. Originally I'm from Michigan. But it snows there and they have polar bears and penguins!!! I'm not a big fan of snow anymore unless there's a cone under it. With blue, pink, green or other color of snow. But no yellow snow! Okay I'll let you go so I can watch some other videos. And yes I'm cheating on you. See yah.
    P.S. I wish you would have told me that you guys were going to the boat show. I would have asked you to stop by the Halberd Rassey tent to ask them to donate that new 50 footer. I would have tested it for them. You know like long term to put it through it's pases to see if she was all about their reputation! I hear excellent reviews about them.

    • @SailingOneLife
      @SailingOneLife  Před rokem +1

      Hey John! We wanted a break for a couple reasons but mainly we wanted to spend time with our family & friends and also to attend the boat show. Once we cross the Pacific it will be much harder for us to fly back to the US. As for the engine oil, it is recommended that whenever your boat is going to be idle for awhile it is best to remove old oil as it could have residual acids and moisture which could cause corrosion but that is just our personal preference. We love Halberg Rassey's as well and we actually did get on one for a quick tour while we were at the boat show! We would love for them to donate one to you.....and to us too! LOL

      @johnrathbun2943 Před rokem

      @@SailingOneLife didn't think about the moisture. Good one on the oil than. But I still don't get how there is a shelf life on fermented dinosaur juice. Some things are better left unknown. Kind of like why do men always have to close the toilet lid . Oh well. Hope you guys had a great time. See yah next week.
