Tasty oat milk is also very expensive and is something that I can no longer afford as I am disabled now. But I can buy 10 lb of Oats and use them for all kinds of things including my own yummy oat milk!
I couldn't agree more! :) Way cheaper indeed!

@Spanish Roleplayer Hm, meat milk? Sure, I'd give it a go.
My son is tree nut and peanut allergic and store bought oatmilks have a warning so this is great for me to make for him!
This is so cute and thoughtful. I pray you succeed in everything you do
My friend is too, oatmeal is useful for SO MANY things. Good luck

For anyone who makes soap, the oat butter (what's left after the strainer) is perfect for soap making as it results in better lather and some exfoliation.
What exactly can l add it to make a perfect soap.. Please

my bad I just wanted to make sure I'm on the same page, the solids in the nut milk bag or the liquid at the beginning after the oats soaked?
I made it and its amazing! I added vanilla and cinnamon plus a hint of stevia and i just drink it ice cold so good!
thanks!

Just add a pinch of cinnamon and you have orchata.
After realizing there is no simple oat, almond, or cashew milks in the grocery store, I've finally decided I'll have to start making my own. This recipe has me so excited to start. 🤩
Pulp is great as a binder in burgers...and if added to your bread dough, it makes the crust really crunchy and the interior more velvety!
how much pulp do you use in your burger recipes?
I like using the pulp to make oatmeal 😋
Me too. I like to use the pulp from the milk, add whole oats and cook that up. Gives it a nice texture.
It's great for hummus too!
@@MagicalKid I'd like to hear about that...as a substitute for something else? Or as the main ingredient?

I think you can reduce the sliminess by rinsing the oats after you soak them, only blend them for a few seconds, and then filter the oat paste out. That's been my experience so far.
The pulp is really good for skincare! I make a face scrub!
How? N wat else do u add for the scrub?
@Perla Ramos
Bees honey + a bit of turmeric
Yogurt + honey
Aloevera + honey
All of these options are super moisturizing and help with skin brightening!
Wow thanks for the tip
@@Rashmisoo ok, i'm sorry for this,
But....
Isn't all honey from bees ?
Obviosly not fake honey tho..
w i l d f l x w e r in most asian countries there are many other forms of honey that comes from plants :) I’m used to specifying the type of honey because in my country there are a lot of types.
That left over pulp looks so good to use as a face mask or perhaps to add into home-made soaps. 🤗
YOU NEED TO SOAK THEM AND RINSE AFTER TO AVOID SLIMINESS
How long do you soak yours? TIA

I soak mine for 24 hours. Drain and rinse twice before blending. Add a pinch of sea salt while soaking.
Thank you. I've tried so many oat milk recipes and all have been disgustingly slimy.

Here in Panama 🇵🇦, we make "chicha de avena", we add cinnamon and sugar for a nice refreshing drink any time. It's very common to see local restaurants with this drink in their every day menu to accompany breakfast, lunch or dinner plates. 😋
I was recently advised by my nutritionist to try almond/oat milk without gums and carragens. I found one single brand without it and it costs the world! 100% will make it at home now I know it's this simple!

The longer you blend them the more gluten they release so if you’re wanting a gluten free oat milk then soak them with some almaneze enzyme (turns starches into sugars) and blend for 20-30 seconds. Perfect

in the EU the cheapest 1ltr pack oat milk is around 2 euro with tax.
500 grams of oat's is 50ct.
tap water is around 0.002 ct per liter
which would translate
to about a cost of 12ct per liter if you make it yourself.
That‘s not true. I don’t know where you live but in Germany the cheapest oatmilk costs 0,95€
@@freeshvacadoo5172 Is that from the LIDL or Aldi?
Since i noticed they started stocking Soymilk since recently, which is cheaper than regular milk.
The cheapest Oatmilk in my country is still around 2 euro. but if Lidl/aldi is going to stock it I think its gonna be around 1 euro
In Germany there is a store called DM which sells a lot of organic vegan products like plant milk, sweets and quinoa. And everything they sell is quite affordable. But I know that they also sell plant milks in Aldi and Lidl that is pretty affordable (1€-2€).
I think Lidl sells Oatmilk as well but I don’t know about Aldi.
Average price in London is £1.50. That is absolutely mental considering how cheap it is to make.
Very helpful and clear instructions! Thank you.
Thank you for the guide! Much appreciated
I knew it was simple, but didn't realise just how simple. Considering how effective oat milk is when used in coffee, I will have to do this. I get through litres of the stuff so quickly, this should save some money. Thank you!
It seems good and healthy, and is better for the whole world, I think. The less people drink of cow milk, the better for the cows :)

the beauty of simplicity. yummy too! thanks for sharing
oh my goodness!! this is so nostalgic! oatmeal was a staple in my house, but as a child i would always refuse to eat it because of the lumps. my mother would throw it in a blender with milk and some sugar and voila!! i didn't know that this was something uncommon until i saw this video. i'm so glad people are trying this, i still drink oat milk up til now and it really keeps you full for awhile.
wow who would have thought you can make milk from oats. It's so simple and affordable, i can't wait to try this.
This really helped! Thank you!

Thank you soo much for this delicious recipe. For some sweetness I ay dded a few dates. I calcuated it by the way and it is cheaper than the oatmilk you can buy even if you add dates.

As someone who has dealt with Hypothyroidism the last few years and just getting my Hashimoto's diagnosis in February, one of the things I need to cut my intake way down on is dairy (milk, cheese, etc). And I found an oat milk at Trader Joe's and it is really good. And I love this because my husband and I make so much of our food from scratch, and we've had really good, responsible clean eating habits the last 10 years (good keto diet with a good balance of vegetarian, vegan, and meat and proteins), and I'm excited about trying to make this at home too!
Did it work
This video changed my life
Amazing video ... thankyou so much for sharing
Thank you!!! I really enjoyed this!
Oat milk is great! I actually tried a recipe on my channel for non slimy
oat milk. It is pretty amazing how easy it is to make at home and a LOT
cheaper too. Plus you get the added benefit of knowing exactly what you
put in your milk. :)
this turned out so well, very creamy and tasty!! my experience and lil cheats: took about an hour (with soaking it for around 30 min), i have a regular (pretty cheap) blender but after 2,5 minutes it was mixed well, since my blender isn't too big i dilluted it with some more water after blending (in a big bow) and mixed by hand, and added a teaspoon of stevia to the whole milk!! I also poured it through a little linen cloth before distributing into two glass jars!! I don't know exactly how much ml turned out, but around 1,5 big jars!! :)
Just made this thank you!
Awesome! Thank you!
Omg i just find this, this is amazing, imagine taking a bath in this 😂, this is miracle for dry skin people with eczema.
Actually tht sounds like a great idea 🤔.
This sounds like a great way to get acne and rashes
Sounds like a yeast infection waiting to happen haha
Egyptian by the time of cleopatra used to take some oat milk baths and they were known for there fabulous “skin routines” so yes 😊
@@Volkswagenitalia. wash off the oat milk of course with water after you done dipping in it 😂, but i was just jk, you need a tons of oat to make a decent bath, and its going to be expensive, better go buy an oat moisturizer for me 😊
Thank you I usually buy it . And order it . But this way I can enjoy it more
Wow. Didnt know it could be that simple. Thanks!
Thank you for sharing I will try this 😬
just tried this recipe. I didn't strain most of the water from soaking, and I used a tshirt instead of a nut milk bag (which was a struggle lol) but it turned out pretty good! Has a sticker, slimier consistency than cow milk, so added a little extra water too. Tastes great with honey.
angiel516 it’s slimy because of the soaking water
Nice positive comment. Good effort with the t-shirt
@@melw3313
Melissa, from what I've heard, there's a very good chance it's because you:
1. Overblended the oat milk OR
2. You didn't soak the oats OR
3. You didn't throw away the water where the oats have soaked.
From what I've heard, the reason you soak the oats is for them to release as much of the starch as possible-it's the starch that makes it slimy.
I hope you were not WEARING the tshirt at the time🤣 that would definitely make it more difficult
angiel516 you also have to rinse it a couple times after straining it to keep it from being so slimy
Yes I am going to be trying this😱 oats are much cheaper than most other things dairy free milk products are. What I am so trying this😄
Thanks for sharing..i love it
I like this thank you so much
Squeezing the nut milk bag looked so fun lol
I use one minute quick oats as the nutrition is exactly the same for quick oats as it is for rolled oats. The only difference is quick oats have been cut like steel cut oats. The nutrition is exact. So I can let mine soak for 20 minutes in the morning and then make it or at night. At times I love to have it warm with some fresh nutmeg and a couple of slices of protein toast for breakfast. Yum! This can also be made in a bullet style blender in two batches. I also tend not to strain as I want to leave the fiber in which is what lowers cholesterol. Elizabeth MD Ph.D specialized nutritional science
Thank you for sharing! Over here the one minute quick oats are more processed, but I guess it can depend on the brand. Yes, the straining is completely optional indeed :)
Elizabeth Shaw I have a very hard time believing you are an MD *OR* a PhD - let alone both - when you ignore the additional processing that is done to quick oats and redundantly state both “the nutrition is exactly the same” and “the nutrition is exact”. If I’m not mistaken, quick oats have a different glycemic load than rolled oats, and even more so than steel cut or whole oat groats.
@@ayekantspeylgud glycemic load has nothing to do with nutritional differences between quick oats and steel cut. The nutrition IS exactly the same. The difference is the way that they're cut. Glycemic load measures how your body reacts to food. Because quick oats are cut more finely, your body digests it more quickly, thus raising your blood sugar quicker than steel cut, which takes WAY longer to digest because the oats are not cut up as much. It's like the difference between shredded lettuce and whole leaf lettuce. It's still lettuce. Like Elizabeth said, the nutrition is exactly the same.
@@emilyk1889 would using quick oats vs steel cut not matter for making oat milk? Is the difference really only important when eating it whole like as oatmeal? I've never understood the difference between the two
@@breeski3903 you're probably going to have to soak your steel cut oats for longer to get the same milk consistency as quick oats. The starch in quick oats, because it's mangled WAY more than steel cut, is more readily available. It might take some research from other youtubers or some experiments of your own. Thankfully, oatmeal is cheap and you can make your own quick oats from steel cut by giving them a few passes in a food processor.
Thank you! I had no idea that it was this easy!
Thank you soooo much ❤ i'll trying to make this one.
Considering the circumstances, I can't always buy oat milk and I feel quite guilty to just go outside for that. Making this at home is a great idea as Oats are dry foods and last really long I can buy more oats( of course not bulk buying I don't have the money for that lmao)and make milk whenever I run out.
Will quick oats work?

I'm late to the oat milk party. I usually buy almond milk, just started using cashew milk. I thought, who in the heck is drinking oatmeal???? Oh......how wrong I was. Bought some in the store ($3.58) and used in a coffee recipe. Ran out of it and decided to use my store bought cashew milk. NOT THE SAME. Oat milk is a game changer. But the price???? So, I had a pound of organic oats just hanging out in the pantry and googled "how to make oat milk". Your recipe was the most straightforward. I added a pinch of salt, vanilla and stevia. OMG!!!! Never buying the crap in the stores again. Thank you so much!!!
this is way easier than i thought, i’m going to try it now lol
Today I went to the grocery store to buy my usual almond milk, i was about to grab a carton when boom there it was OAT MILK! i was like 😮 because firstly i am a big fan of oats and second I didn't know there was such a thing as oat milk even though I put them in my milkshakes so yeah I am so happy to replace the not so healthy carton almond milk for the supper healthy home made oat milk yeee👏👏👏 thank you!
