Everytime I hear this music I want to cry. Shame that we don't know where he's buried or his remains can be found. I would like to kneel before his grave as Roman emperors did a few centuries later. I am not an emperor. I am just a normal man. But he would be a man I wished to follow if I lived in his age. He was a true demigod.

I've been listening to this track for hours today. As well as the other version of it. It's such a beautiful track and I cant believe it was left out of the OST.

Man, you could feel Alexander's hurt and frustration during this scene. When he realized that he could no longer go on, and that his dream to see what was over that horizon would never come. You almost felt that weariness and tiredness portrayed by those actors as they hopelessly tries to reach the unreachable.. Amazing film, and totally underrated.
when this song plays and Philip appears to Alexander nodding in sign of approval while they hail him is so touching.He always wanted to go forward, he always aimed for the glory ,where lots of other kings would have just enjoyed all the gold and fame. He is indeed, the greatest of them all.

This movie did have one of the Best Soundtracks I've ever heard, Once upon a Time in the WEst is Great too. The old cowboy movies are amazing
I believe he would of conquered Saudi Arabia, Carthage, would of cleanly defeated the Romans and made his way up north defeating the Gaulic tribes. There was no force on the planet at the time that could out match him on the battlefield Alexander was just too good.
When the ghost of Phillip looked at his son and gave him that nod of "I am proud of you son" at 0:41, I always tear up. Alexander was most certainly Phillip's child, he inherited his ways of warfare and cunning. To Phillip! A real hero!
At that time no army on the face of the planet would of stopped him, his tactics and legend will live on through the present day and the ages beyond us. We may learn from Alexander to chase happiness in the doing not in the thinking.

Oliver Stone really tried to capture Alexander's soul, of course, as we know from textes, and about this side, the movie is great. Not a masterpiece, of course, but really interesting; a movie that all young child should watch.

Alexander (in the film at least) has the humility to realize his time has come and gone by the time this scene plays out. He was wounded, he was defeated, and the inertia of the world that was so hastily brought down before his feet was simply too much to accommodate the vision he so solemnly sought. This is what Ptolemy means when he says, "we've all killed him." Each victory brought more discontentment, the siren song of decadent, fattened luxury rang louder and louder; something Alexander swore to never give in to ("because you've fallen in love with all the things in life that destroy men"). Depressing, yes, but maybe somehow liberating in a way, knowing that he has etched his name into the books of history. The only defeat that could have truly felled Alexander would've been one of the loss of ambition, the desire to give up and forgo the utterly ridiculous dream of an empire sprawling from one end of Asia to the other. Fate had given Alexander an impressive hand and he had played to the utmost best of his ability; to me, that is what constitutes true glory.

Maybe I can improvise. "Eric's life should have ended in south park,but that's myth, in real life.. Though more seriously, When I watch scene, it's truly heartbreaking. For when they heard Alexander's three simple words, it sent an emotionally powerful and meaningful message.. After several battles, 7-10 years in Asia. To finally reunite with their families and friends and live out a peaceful life was what both Alexander and his men deserved. After one of the most glorious journeys in history.

the extent of the hellenic influence is probably more than we know..... my aunt and i are greek and she told me that she went on a trip and went through i think it was cambodia or vietnam and she visited a village and the people living there had greek style dancing and even in their language, my aunt picked up some very vague greek words.... i once also heard about judo, that it was possible that a greek from alexander's army could have taught locals wrestling... just makes you wonder...

Man, he even looks like Kurt C. in this scene... pale and half-dead, as if greeting his fans after a supposedly fatal overdose. And Hephaistion's hair, rising from the ground in a bathrobe-like gown... it's Woodstock 326 BC, really, and the story is that of all men - and women - who reached further than anyone else could... and fell.
