I don’t recommend using the new screws on the cap because you can crack the housing because of the locktite they apply to them I’ve seen it happen many times on these GM flat cap distributors.

Another great video! I’m doing this tuneup next week! Where is part 3?

Here it is, for certain reasons it has to be unlisted. Unfortunately some of the data was corrupt, hence why I did not upload it, but The only things not shown were the IAC muffler and the power tune.

Also if you can recommend anything else I should do it would be appreciated. Boat has been sitting for a few years. Thanks again!

Will there be a part 3 or is this it for the tune up? Very informative btw! I'm a total novice and just bought a 94 crownline 182br with a 305. Runs and needs a new deck and the old deck and stringers are completely removed so I'm thinking I'll never have better access to the engine so I want to do everything for the engine before installing the deck. Thanks!

There will be a part 3 and 4. It just takes a while to edit and make the full video. they should be coming out within the next week or two

How many years/hours on a water pump before you should change the impeller and belt?

Belts (as per Mercruiser's Recommendation) Are to be inspected/changed every 3 years or 300 hours. If you have a HD water pump impeller, That is true, Though I tend to air on the cautious side and replace the impeller around the 200-250 mark as I have seen a few explode. If the boat is used hard and spends a lot of time in the upper RPM range, then I would say no more than 100-150 hours on the impeller.
For the belt, I have seen some that do not make the 300 hour mark and I have seen some that way exceed it. 300 is a good benchmark, but if your vessel hops waves, it usually kills the belt sooner. Personally, I also recommend 300 just like mercury, as that seems to be when the belt is worn out, but still has a little life in it, so you don't risk the chance of it snapping.
