What is calibre born fabric?
Yeah. I got it after watching your reviews. I like it. Great guitar at this price point. Way better than Cort CJ RETRO VSM which I thought would be better than Takamine.
is it much better than the 12 guage?
I'm so torn between a Takamine New Yorker or the Dreadnought in the same "G" series with is their affordable line. As a older player I like the smaller body, as I have neck and shoulder issues. The New Yorker has very nice mid and treble but I find it not to great for strumming (at least not to hard, i find it needs to be feathered or it blends into itself gets messy sounding), it lacks the low end that the Dreadnought has, however it has a preamp which I brought up the bass on and played it through my bass amp, it actually improved decently as long as I don't strum too hard. With the Dreadnought obviously volume is less an issue and I open up more on strumming, low end is there but as I mentioned the smaller New York size fits my frame with less pain issues maybe I can work around somehow. I believe both nut widths are around 42.5mm. Good for my smaller hands. Any insights...I know it's a very personal choice to make.

Fender cd60s of takamine gd11. Sound and playabilty?
I played them both. CD 60S has solid spruce top. Takamine GD 11 M NS has laminated top. Speaking of their sound, Fender sounds bright and its sustain is quite good. Takamine has great sustain too, but it has more bass sound. I own this Takamine guitar and can say that it's worth buying. Before I decided to get it, I was looking for a guitar that would be good for fingerstyle.
Reasons to buy Takamine:
+ loud and bass sound
+ strings are hard yet comfortable to play
+ the guitar itself is well made
+ quite heavy(that speaks of its wood quality)
+ all laminated (does not need any temperature check at home)
+++ looks super cool!
Reasons to avoid:
- would not be a great choice for a fingerstyle player
- doesn't sound as bright as many people expect
- high quality strings are required to get a brighter sound(I use D'addario XS 12-53 and it brings the best out of this guitar)
CD 60S
Reasons to buy:
+ bright sound
+ light weight
+ good for fingerstyle
+ strings are easy to play
+ made of quality wood
+ slippery neck(can be either an advantage or a disadvantage)
Reasons to avoid:
- better guitars can be found at this price point
- lacquered body and neck cover(fingerprints are everywhere after being played)
- sometimes strings height are not set up out of factory (need to be taken to a guitar luthier. BTW, I have not had such issues with Takamine guitars)
A lot more should be mentioned, but I have not used CD 60S.
