4. Stay Alert to Common Scams: Be aware of common pickpocketing tactics, such as fake fights, spills, or someone asking for help. These distractions are often used to divert your attention while an accomplice targets your pockets.
5. Keep a Hand on Your Belongings: When in crowded areas, keep a hand on your bag or pocket where you store valuables. If you feel someone trying to reach into your pocket or bag, you’ll be able to react quickly.
By following these tips, you can significantly reduce the risk of becoming a victim of pickpocketing.

Well my sis encounter the same. Smug my sis hp, and i scream out loud just right infront of the rome train station like an insane people for like 1 min. Coz i was hopeless and hopefully could grab some attention from ppl around to help. I was with my aunts and my grandma(74yrs old)!!! And my mom and it was at 10 at night!! Was looking for our accommodation, our bus stepped at the station. Yes, ofcourse my sis lost the phone. There were a group of youngster accompanied my sis and my mom to the police station by walking. 2 local chinese stop by and help me up, because the police man who stopped by does not speak eng. The chinese mother took us to their shops for a rest and wait, while the son follow the police and help up for the police records. I am very thankful for these 2 local chinese and that group of European youngster uni students who accompanied my sis and mom to the police station. I hope italy gov could take serious and effective action on this pick pockets and smuggling ppl. Since then i dont encourage ppl to travel to southern europe.😂

내 경험 생각나...소오름! 저번 달 신분당선 강남역 승강장 의자에 지갑+폰 두고 가방만 챙겨들고 후다닥 지하철 탔는데 출발 후 곧바로 지갑+폰 의자에 두고탄걸 알고 깜놀. 양재역에서 내려 바로 반대편 승강장에서 강남역행 지하철 기다리는데 혹시 몰라 옆에 있던 남자 대학생 3명에게 사정 애기하고 폰 빌려 역무원에게 전화하려 하자 "5분이면 가는데 역무원이 찾으러 가는 시간보다 더 빠를것 같다며 그대로 있을거예요" 라며 지갑 그대로 있을거니까 걱정말라며 안심시켜줘서 전화 안하고 지하철 타고감. 폰 둔곳에 도착해 보니 러시아워인 7시 퇴근시간에 그 많은사람들 다들 바삐 움직이고 있는데, 심지어 지갑 둔 의자에는 여성이 폰하며 앉아있었지만 내 지갑+폰 그대로 있더라. 한국에 살아 이런일이 당연한게 감사할뿐!

The pickpockets in Italy are terrible! Here’s some advice…when you see someone approaching you or near you with their jacket over their arm and hand, hold onto your purse!!! That jacket over the arm is their modus operandi! They will pick your pocket and then quickly hand it off to another, then another! 🤬

This was not a pickpocket, this was straight up robbery with intimidation. Pickpockets don't let you see them coming. There's a distraction and someone comes up behind or to your side and picks your pocket. I saw this happen a lot living in Italy. I foiled quite a few attempts.

They will try to get you while your buying clothes, one comes up from the back two from the fromt of the aisle they will pin you in if your to busy looking at outfits they will take your things . Never be to into anything to forget your possessions. If you see them coming get out of the area, they are looking for people who have their guard down , Never let them surrounded you !!! Get out of that fast !!! On the subway dont ever stand with close to the platform stand with your back against the iron pole, keep your head on a swivel, dont put your money in your bag or phone , keys , put it on your body somewhere safe , if they take your bag let them run for help , also you can get a fake wallet leave it in the drop bag ,if they grab it they will be to excited they have your wallet, use that time to run for help .

As i remembered when i had a trip in italy with my friends. When we were inside the bus a lots of passenger are standing i was one of them and my bag was a little big. My friend are really scared of me because of my bag. But before i went for a trip or before i go out for roaming italy, i always prayed. I hugged my bag just to secured. Sadly my friend, her pocket money, visa card are gone. And take note she said to me her bag was anti theft. Whatever bag you gonna use always pray for the guidance and protection, no harm will come to you. Prayer is the best weeapon to the evil works.

Teenager pickpocket in Rome is a serious issue.. my bag was picked by a teenager in Rome as I visited there. She use a map to cover her hand while doing that. And the police car was patrolling nearby. Really wanted to report to the police but i didnt

I was pickpocket in the subway.
I was wearing shorts with outside pockets. I had my wallet (documents & money) in the left one, but I forgot to button it up.
I was next to the door.
A chap climbed in next to me and as the doors were closing he poped off.
I immediately put my hand down to my left pocket and it was EMPTY. I screemed and yeld bumping the window of the door saying "I've been robbed! I've been robbed!"😢
I got off at the next station screeeming for Police assistance. No one to be seen. Subway officer selling tickets, promptly phoned previous station. Then he and people around tried to calm me down: "do you need money?" NO I want my wallet and documents back.
Another subway-train went by. And somebody pointed out at a wallet left on ticket booth on platform side. I looked at it and recognized it: it's mine!🎉
I went for it.
No money left in it, but all documents & cards were in it.
ID card, debit cards, etc were all there.😅
I was lucky in a way but I went through terrific stressful moments.

As a former New Yorker, who use to commute on the trainsit line daily. Your programmed to always take precaution and to think quick. I apply the same thing when I travel. Especially in a foreign country. Never carry your passport and a lot of money in your handbag/ wallet. If you must spread them out inside your socks and undergarments.

From the point of view of someone who lives in a third word country, I really thought that people from rich countries are rich so they did not have pickpocketters. Now, I realized that their rich economy does not always reflect the situation of their people. In my country, though the people are poor, there's still a big chance that your lost valuable will be returned to you.
They tried to do the same with my wife when we were in Barcelona. They didn’t realize that I was watching the entire time. One of them even spat on me when I won’t let go of the one who were attempting to put her hand in my wife’s bag.
