This is exactly what I hoped his album would sound like. I am crying with joy at its release and sadness that I never got to see him live.
Saw him on New Year's Eve 1988 at the Limelight, NYC. Unforgettable. And that was just the orange poly flares he was sporting. Chuck is the real architect of rock & roll, with all respect to Little Richard.
+David Vawter
Correct on all counts. I lived only three blocks away from the Limelight, but many years later... I missed it!!
JustMe BeingMe
You just said every word I wanted to say thanks
It's damn good. I'm teary eyed too. It's great to have this kind of top flight recording of Chuck before he passed away.
You know what it sounds like?
Chuck Berry.
Take my money.
Joseph Taylor Truth.
A real pity he didn't get to present the album himself.
“If you tried to give rock and roll another name, you might call it ‘Chuck Berry,’”
John Lennon quote
hey I covered this song just now :) please take a look
plod whats he know?
@@93corvettebaby all....by Chuck!!!!
I can see Chuck duckwalking into heaven. Rock In Peace. Yes, Yes!
1blastman hell yeah🤘🏻💓
I covered this song just now :) please take a look
Where's your link?
The real king of Rock n Roll.
+Gui Bertollo
You got that right. To his credit, Elvis NEVER thought of himself as the King of Rock 'n' Roll. Presley was a humble man, and always gave credit to the black blues players who influenced him. He never listened to R&R, btw, only gospel, the only album he received a Grammy for.
"Describe Elvis Presley? He was the greatest who ever was, is or ever will be." - Chuck Berry
+foxholemusic76
Wow. What a tribute.
+tiffsaver "My favorite guitar player. Mister Chuck Berry." - Elvis Presley
only Elvis is the king
I cried when Chuck Berry died. And I'll never forget listening to this song on the radio the day it released. I'm 24 but not a millennial.
This is going to be a great sendoff to the king.
Just what we needed in 2017, some good old Rock 'n' Roll.
No auto-tune & classic Berry Guitar
He never lost his edge, he so understood youth, his writing skills were right on here. If you are thinking that it's old school, DAMN RIGHT!!!!!
Almost every musician ever after the 1960's deserves to say thank to him... His pioneering is why they have the things they do.
The world needs more 90 year olds that played guitar like that!!! RIP Chuck GREATEST OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!
My God, this is so great I want to say it's the best song after Johnny B. Goode. Absolutely floored by how good it is. Sort of makes me wonder they held off releasing it for a special occasion. Well, Chuck's passing is about as big as it gets. He is the guy I call "The King of Rock and Roll". And though 90 is old to many of us I really thought he was the one that would make 100. Anyhow, I hope he was happy with his achievements like bringing a musical culture to the world! Thank You Chuck Berry!!!!!!
The King of Rock & Roll..RIP
O REI DO ROCK N' ROLL... RIO DE JANEIRO I LOVE CHUCK. RIP!
I can not stop playing this. There's no way I'll have the energy at 90 years old to play and sing like a 30 year old, but the one and only did it...
He first album in 40 years and it sounds like a masterpiece...Chuck being Chuck
Chuck Berry you will always be what Rock and Roll means to me...RIP sir
I covered this song just now :) please take a look
I'm so happy that this is what the new album sounds like. Rest In Peace to the real king of rock and roll
RIP I covered this song just now :) please take a look
Rest In Peace to Chuck Berry, too. He was awesome! Elvis said Fats Domino was the real king of rock. Elvis also loved Chuck. As Bob Seger sang in Rock and Roll Never Forgets - 'All of Chuck's children are out there playing his licks'.
Too bad My Ding A Ling was his only Number 1 record.
"The Father" once again laying down the law on how to Rock & Roll !
I'm 64 years young & I have loved Mr. Chuck Berry since the 60's. RIP MR. R @ R.
I am very impressed that a man of 90 years of age can play guitar and sing so wonderfully well. The last concerts he gave was not good, so I am very impressed that he can sound as fresh and as well on a new album.
Jakob6255 Believe me.....this album is a little bit fake. Modern techniques made it sound well
peetjemuilwijk I don't think so. I think it is real.
peetjemuilwijk Chuck could still play guitar just fine. He couldn't really perform that well anymore because he was 80+. He could sing fine too, just he couldn't do guitar and singing at the same time anymore. He probably did the guitar parts and singing parts separately
Chuck berry didn't play and sing anything on this song.
Are you deaf? The person singing is Chuck Berry. He is the guitarist here as well. Chuck Berry's son does a little guitaring, but Chuck is the main guitarist here. The difference between here and Chuck's last performance's are, Chuck can record the guitar parts separately and focus on the guitar alone. Singing wise, he can sing while reading off a paper and doesn't have to sing the entire track right then and there. So he can focus on sounding good and young rather playing guitar and signing the entire song along with a ton of other tracks he used to play at concerts all at once.
Chuck from what I have heard on this track accomplished what he was probably out to do. He sounds many decades younger, however this was recorded sometime in 2016 and played sometime in 2016. This isn't an album like Michael Jackson's posthumous album, XScape that wasn't meant to be released and is just a compilation of old material put together. This album was going to be released anyway, it was PLANNED to be released in 2017 regardless of Chuck being dead or alive.
A true legend who's music will live on forever! RIP Chuck Berry!
Fantastic. Just straight-up rock'n'roll at its best. Many thanks to the original and true king of rock'n'roll. Arguably, you could say we wouldn't even have it if it weren't for him.
Back in 1994, We caught Chuck at a small theatre in the North of UK...
After waiting a while for him to come out through the stage door,
he comes straight out and into a waiting Mercedes with blacked out windows.
We thought he was going to leave, but he draws the window down, and signs a few autographs.
My buddy says "Hey Chuck - You're the king of rock 'n' roll"......
Chuck pauses for a second, then says:
"Nah nah, I'm not the king of rock'n' roll.....Just the prime minster!"
You were 'The Man' sir.....RIP
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssss! Steve Wright just played this on his show. Now have this on order.
The only bad part is that he won't see how much all the fans will love this album.
Classic Chuck Berry!!! BRAVO!!!
Whether Chuck Berry is 21 or 90 years old, He ROCKS!
Chuck Berry ... the inventor of both kinds of music : Rock AND Roll
thank you Charles berry junior for driving everyday to the studio for months to finish the new album and shredding the guitar. your dad was and is proud. hail hail chuck berry and family. God bless x x

Take your spam and shove it up your ass.
@@robertjohnson2786 lmao 😆
Sounds great! I got to see him live way back in 1975 and it was just like it was shown in the "Hail! Hail!" documentary. He showed up a few minutes before he was to go on, was backed by a local bar band that he met just before walking on stage, and left in a rented Cadillac immediately after the show. He put on a great show, though! And while this may be a "new" album from Chuck Berry, remember his last release before this ("Rock It") came out in 1979. So the new album might contain tracks recorded anytime in the past 37 or so years. Heck, it might even contain outtakes from "Rock It". I don't think anyone is claiming this was recorded last year, are they? Still looking forward to it in June. For those of you that have never heard "Rock It", check it out. It's different from the 50's and 60's stuff, but still definitely Chuck Berry; even has Johnnie Johnson on piano.
The past couple days I've been so sad with the passing of my hero Mr. Berry. The man who invented the music I love so dearly my whole life and inspired me to take my own path on the roller coaster ride that Rock N Roll is. With this song my tears have turned to tears of joy listening to what he did in the last years of his life. This song, and I'm sure this whole album will be a testament to the undying spirit of Rock N Roll. He lived 90 long years but even so it feels like he left us too soon. I'm eternally grateful that he left us with this final album. As much as this is an end of an era, it's a new beginning for a generation to hear a fresh Chuck Berry album. Hopefully a kid will hear this and pick up a guitar and know that they have enough guts, charisma and ambition to create and be themselves. Mr. Berry RIP and as long as an electric guitar is being played you will never be forgotten.
This would have been an excellent album. The greatest thing is that you gave to us one more song! R.I.P.
Classic Chuck Berry. Rock n Roll poetry at its very best. Thankyou for releasing this.
O REI DO ROCK N' ROLL... RIO DE JANEIRO I LOVE CHUCK. RIP!

A 90 year old man who can rock like this! I can't wait to get my hands on the new album and I hope it outsells every Top 40 cookie-cutter pop CD on the market! CHUCK FOREVER...
BloozeDaddy you can,t sit still you gotta move on this rock rock whooooo
His voice is so crisp, clear and Chuck Berry! You would never believe he was 90!! Sad I never heard him in the flesh. Rest in peace Chuck. You are teaching the Angels the Duckwalk!!
Chuck Berry rocking and rolling with the angels for eternity!!! A hard act to follow.
Berry, the big dog of RnR. Long live Chuck. Long live Rock n Roll!!!
YES YES YES.................Und er bringt den Rock´n Roll und Blues wieder...aus dem Himmel....Ihr werdet schon sehen....MEIN KING
Met Chuck 3 times in the 50s 60s - Brilliant Personality - He never said Hello - but I wont hold that agin him
RIP Father Of Rock n Roll!
Thanks Chuck for all the great music.
Out of the sadness Chuck can still make us smile...spot on, exactly what I was hoping for....vintage Chuck!
That band in heaven just keeps getting better! I'm not in a hurry to see the show, but I'll ask for directions when I get there.
This is a great song! They're going to need to press extra copies of the album, because I'm predicting ... Number 1, with a Bullet!
The real "King of Rock 'n' Roll.
Ha, ha, ha. Just saw Gui's comment . . .
Wow, this 90 year old still has/had it...
Chuck Berry, the true King of Rock n Roll, nuff said
Holy shit I'm crying, this is amazing!
He sings very well, his solo's are tight, so glad it's this good at 90 years old :)
I can't believe he was still making such sick ass music
Still the greatest storyteller in rock-n-roll.
OMG!!! SO HAPPY!!!!
Me too! I covered this song just now :) please take a look
Just had a watch, I love it man!
Thank you so much for sharing this preview release with us... Chuck Berry might be emulated but their can only be one originator to the Rock and Roll sound we are now so familiar with... It's just good old Rock and Roll to me... Long live Chuck's legacy... Hail ! Hail ! the King of Rock and Roll...
His passion for his music comes through loud and clear on this. This is an amazing piece of music. He voice and guitar sound great and you would never know he was 90 or close to it when he recorded this. RIP Father of Rock & Roll.
in my humble opinion his finest single! it's just pure Chuck Berry
I think it's really cool that Nathaniel Rateliff is singing on this.
Love how he starts the song with his classic Johnny B Goode/Roll Over Beethoven/Let it Rock riff.
Why the hell is this not on the radio right now
Oh it was on the radio all the time in April last year
Kind of a shame he didn't release more new material before now.
wow!....sounds like Chuck!...R.I.P......writing til the end.....
CHUCK BERRY IS A GENERE MUSICAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Without question, the Father of Rock 'n' Roll!
Love it that classic sound! Looking forward to hearing more! The track listing sounds great to, 'Lady B. Goode' should be interesting. I was lucky enough to see Chuck perform when I was 12 or 14 yrs old here in the UK. I still feel amazed that I got to see him live and in such an intimate venue. He allowed some people in the audience to dance on stage at the end and I was allowed to go up. I remember being close and watching him and I think it was his daughter leaving the stage at the end!
...Chuck had a sound and this doesn't let me down...it's been fantastic to hear it getting airtime on Radio 2...
I wanna jam like this in my 80s.
Chuck rules in RnR heaven now.
chuck berry left us exactly where I had hoped, coherent, loud, proud and rockin. Thank you chuck!
Amazing!!! Chuck. 90. And could still sing and play this good. Wow. Just wow. I still wish. I could of seen him live before he died.
Saw him in london in 2000 and wow he stole the show. Chuck juniour is a real class act also. Long live chuck berry
It will remain the last real rocker that our planet has known
The Legend Lives on
Rest In Peace, Legend. ¡The Father of Rock 'N' Roll! Thank you for all the music and inspiration you gave to us. You're in heaven being Good and singing Rock 'N' Roll for all the eternity.
Just beautiful!!! And it's featuring Tm Morello as well on the guitars!!! What an awesome song!! RIP Chuck!!! Your legacy will be over here forever!!!
Damn...that's Tom Morello kicking in at 2:33.
Give respect, get respect.
REST IN PEACE CHUCK...but please be rockin' when I get to heaven.
Classic Rock and Roll! This should be the nugget for rock to stage a next century comeback. All the goodness is there...
Robert Lohr piano, Jim Marsala bass,Keith Robinson drums....rockin their heart out !!
After reading all the great comments below, I can't think of much more to add, except to say like many others, I look forward to getting the new album, which sounds like good ol' classic Chuck Berry. Thankfully, he was able to get it done, but very sorry to see him go before it was released. Long live Rock N' Roll!!

This guy was a great great performer , he was In my heart and everytime I felt a little down , I just listen to one of his song and I feel better after ! No one will replace him . I am glad I have been able to see him on stage alive 3 time's : 1rst Time In Germany , second time , In the US , In San-Francisco In a little theather , where I had the priviledge to shack his hand and the last time In France In Strasbourg , few year 's ago , he was In company of his wife and we could see , he was already tired ... BIG thank's !! Sooooo good !!!
with the same iconic intro from one of his most famous songs that helped grow his career. cant believe this was some of his last work and it worked out just like that.
848 views and counting, at least 20 of those are mine. Pure, original, simplistic, Berry.
