He lived to be 90 years old. I am very surprised that he lived tat long. The Killer was 87. Those were some hard living individuals. I had an uncle that was like that. He died when he was 32 years old. He was my Honky Tonk hero.

Chuck Berry had such a great guitar sound. You can tell when it’s him playing. Kind of like with Johnny Cash and his “chugging train” rhythm. Two absolute GOATs and giants of rock and roll.

Fun fact, there were tracking issues with the master recording so the guitar part had to be rerecorded by the sound engineer Gene Bernstein because of time and financial constraints. Due to a injury sustained in ww2, Gene only had one arm, so the picking is actually done by his war buddy Gilbert Humphrey. Also, due to a lack of finger agility by this duo, they recorded the part really slow on a downtuned guitar and then sped up the recording to match the drums.

I say this every year, but this may be one of the greatest rock and roll songs of all time, but it never gets the recognition because it’s only played seasonally.

What a video. I first heard this song in the movie "Home Alone", when the McCallisters were running in the airport. The artwork and animation is a real show stealer, going with a pulp comic book style and portraying Chuck Berry as a more modern Santa Claus. Props to the animators who worked on this.
