He is the greatest voice today as well. See concerts of modern artists live and they sound good. Then see Eddie sing live at 57 and it's still 'wow'.

  • @Levi_Amongst_the_Watchers

Eddie Vedder is one of the greatest vocalist to ever walk the earth.

I would love to see his reaction to Porch- unplugged....guess he would definitely enjoy that one, too! 🫶🏼

Eddie puts all of his heart and soul into every single performance. He still does today at 57 years old. He doesn't climb all over everything and launch himself into the crowd anymore like he did for a few years in the 90's. But they're still performing live and are still awesome!

Yes! Eddie is one of those singers that delivers on the emotion, not just the lyrics or notes. Great reaction!

Love Pearl Jam! Eddies voice is amazingly unique. Though the song is about a young neglected boy who was picked on in school, no love at home, no friends! Jeremy “spoke” in class that day by shooting himself in the head in front of the teacher and his fellow pupils. Eddie wrote the lyrics after reading this in the paper, making him so angry about gun control in the USA, which, unfortunately is still a huge problem there. If you watch the original video you will see the sadness. Xx

always a shame when the meaning behind something is 'overlooked' , but we're mearly human, as Jeremy was...

One of the classic grunge, which shows just how good the form was. I had stopped listening to music during the 80's because it had lost me. Consequently I missed the whole fantasticness of the grunge greats until it was all over.

Ditto! I stopped listening to”new” music around 1990……thinking there was nothing there for me. Grunge was the music if my step-sons. It was not until the pandemic that I delved deeply into reaction channels and discovered whole genres of music that I had not heard, and amazing bands that I had not paid attention to……..developed an appreciation for grunge, symphonic metal, trip-hop, classic metal……I feel lucky to have discovered all this music in my elder years…and I also developed a renewed passion for some of the classic bands that I had left behind in my youth….like Zeppelin.

Eddie and PJ still sound great... this is a powerful song about a troubled child, bullied at school and ignored at home. It's a true story and the boy, Jeremy, committed suicide in front of his school.

If you like Pearl Jam…then you should also enjoy Alice In Chains. Also grunge, so similar vibe…also an excellent vocalist…Try The song Would…live at The Moore Theater …or The Rooster, official video. Also…try the live at The Moore Theater version of Evenflow by Pearl Jam. It’s very much “plugged” and so will give you the normal vibe of the band.

New sub. Went back and watched allot of your back catalogue. Saw that you did The Seed by Aurora. A great metal song that deals with similar feelings about those in power and how they don’t care is Sin After Sin by Alter Bridge. Very powerful. You would enjoy it I think.

Eddie Vedder had a chest cold for this performance. And while that worked for him on "Black", this particular performance of "Jeremy", which I believe was later in the set, is a little weak. He couldn't hit his high notes very well and you can hear him struggling on some of the longer holds.
He is one of the big, huge, immediately recognizable grunge voices from the 90's, and one of the last ones left. Cobain, Staley, Cornell, and Weiland are all dead now.
Vedder is known for his beautifully growly voice, but not necessarily his enunciation. You might want to pull up lyrics on another screen when you watch either Pearl Jam or Temple of the Dog. Both bands have some incredible lyrics, but they can be hard to pick up on a first listen because of Vedder's (and Cornell's in Temple of the Dog) style. "Jeremy" is about a kid who was ignored at home and bullied at school that ends up committing suicide in front of his class. It's a fiction, but mostly based on a small newspaper article that Vedder ran across about Jeremy Wade Delle, a 15-year-old Sophomore at a Texas high school that shot himself in the head in front of his class at 9:45 am on January 8, 1991. The second verse is based on a real experience in Vedder's life.
My favorite lyrics from this song:
    Daddy didn't give affection, no
And the boy was something that mommy wouldn't wear
    and
Try to erase this from the blackboard.

I’ve just looked through your back catalogue and one band is very conspicuous by its absence….and that is Led Zeppelin. Is that deliberate? You don’t like them? Or just an oversight? I’ve noticed people asking fir them…..so just curious.
