    Several People have also mentioned Wave 14 of X-Wing's 1.0, The TIE Reaper and Saw's Renegades expansions also have 2.0 components and are valid for both 1.0 and 2.0 - however I think it's also worth pointing out that there were several misprinted 2.0 cards in those packs - so I'm personally not convinced that they are a particularly good starting point for a brand new player. Saw's Renegades however does have TWO ships in one pack though....

    • @aaronau433
      @aaronau433 Před 5 lety

      I agree. Have recent bought my girlfriend's nephew a core set and some ships but was hesitant to get him Saw's Renegades for the shoddy workmanship on the X-Wing and weird card misprints. The game is confusing enough for newbies, and what a terrible impression for people just getting into the game.

    • @jedijj6305
      @jedijj6305 Před 5 lety +1

      I just got both Saws renegades and the reaper. What misprints were there? Should I email FFG support or is it not major stuff?

    • @aaronau433
      @aaronau433 Před 5 lety

      @@jedijj6305 Nothing major. If you look at the upgrade cards, the imperial and rebel logo is there instead of the wording. Just inconsistent from the rest of 2.0. Also the base arcs on the chits are printed fairly faint. The ships are fine except the Xwing foils are a bit stuck and don't close properly. Just overall feels like wave 14 was rushed to cram the 2.0 stuff in there

    • @efisme1942
      @efisme1942 Před 5 lety

      The missprint on Saw's Renegades is on Edrio Two Tubes, a "Before" instead of an "After", the correction is at the end of the Reference Rulebook. Bought it to start playing X-Wing and super happy about it! The design is great (black and white) and the ships can be played in different styles from the get go!

    I started this game with watching a bunch of your "on a budget" videos, sometime last year. I'm glad you're out there making content like this. :)

    Great video Crabbok. I stopped playing X-Wing a couple years ago and now solely play Armada. I've thought about picking up a core set and the Republic ships since finding games for X-Wing is a lot easier.

    The U-Wing and Reaper are also HS legal and should be available too. Though to be fair, it is hard to find Saw's Renegades and Reaper packs locally now.

    I started X-wing together with a friend shortly after 2.0 came out and we decided to keep to Hyperspace so we could just buy 2.0 stuff and keep up with the format. But a bit saddening that they added ships like Tie Bomber and Tie Interceptor to the format and not reprinting them into 2.0 any time soon. Would really like to ad a Tie interceptor to my squad, but buying a conversion kit and old Interceptor is a bit pricey.
    Smart move though by FFG as I think some Hyperspace players may buy conversion kits which they otherwise wouldn't

    I have 2 2.0 starter sets a y wing and the yellow fangfighter , havent used the last 1 at all .
    My friend and i have basically been playing 4 tie fighters against 2 x-wings and the y-wing .
    it was fun for a while but im just waiting for more 2.0 stuff to come out...

  • @aeroarcher6280

    Whilst this video is a good start. I feel you need to make a part two. Giving a brief outline of the different factions and which play style they focus on.
    Also if you are running on a very tight budget, what would be the cheapest way to get faction ready lists.
    So for instance with the starter set you could buy a T-70 and RZ-2 A-wing. Proxy the T-65 as a T70 and have a ready to go Resistance list by only buying 3 boxes.
    .... okay just doing some thinking out loud as to what would be the cheapest way to form legal (near 200 pts) for each faction using 2.0 kits
    Rebels: Starter + combination of 2 X/Y wings 3 would be better. See comments below about Saw's Renegades option
    Imperials: Starter + Tie Advanced + Second starter?
    Scum: A trickier faction to start with. If you buy a mining guild Tie Im sure there is many that would allow newer players to proxy the starter set Imperial ties as mining ties. Starter + 2 Fang fighters + slave one? for cheapest and easiest build to start with?
    Resistance: As above. Starter + T-70 pack + RZ-A-wing
    First Order: Starter + Any 3 of Tie Silencer or Special Forces Tie Combination
    Separatists: Currently one of the more expensive sides to get a valid list due there swarming nature. lowest cost: starter + 2 sith infiltrators? Although I really wouldn't recommend that.
    Galactic Republic: Starter + Aethersprite + Squadron Pack. Although you could buy just 2 Aethersprites.
    Well think I've rambled on long enough.
    Thanks for making a great channel.

    Will every 1.0 ship be reprinted into a 2.0 version?
    I really wish FFG would have multiple core sets. Example; clone wars core set, scum core set, etc.
    Thanks Crabbok for breaking this down for us.

  • @re-gamer
    @re-gamer Před 2 lety

    Start with 2.0, if you are really on a budget buy cheap 1.0 ships, even in a different language. I bought a Slave 1 brandnew for 15 quid (2.0) and a brandnew Lamba Shuttle (1.0) for 21 quid in italian. You will find pictures of the cards in english via google, print them out and done. Many of the 1.0 will be transformed to 2.0. So i buy both ships, if your are willing to put some work into the game you can do it on a really budget.

  • @JM-op1kt
    @JM-op1kt Před 5 lety

    Hey Crabbok, looking at the 2.0 meta now, how viable do you think the Alpha Class Starwing (Assault Gunboat) is now? I heard a lot of folks are looking for these ships. Could you review them in a 2.0 perspective?

  • @joshroberts8278
    @joshroberts8278 Před 5 lety

    Just took the plunge on 2.0. It was hard cuz I had ships from every faction except scum. I will say the gene does feel better now.

    Me and a friend have just started getting into x-wing, we're buying a large collection of at least 1 of every 1.0 model. Budget aside in the long run will this make it easier to play and customise rosters? Obviously we're picking up the 2.0 starter and conversion kits aswell

    Please make a new legion video also, and i think the best faccion to start playing is the :
    rebel faccion or scum, because rebels are better at taking hits and that gives you more chances to survive a mistake, scum is like all in one so i think is a good faccion because you can play like you were any faccion.
    Resistance is also another good choice almost equal to the rebel faccion.
    Empire and FO are good faccion but almost any mistake tend to destroy your ships, but because of it you will learn faster to flight than rebels or resistance but in the hard way.
    Separatist are good and fun but to be honest you need to have a mini swarm (3 vulture at least) and another 1 big or 2 small ships minimum to be in the same power level of the other faccion, because vulture usually tend to be one shot by other faccions, so its a faccion of we arent quite powerful but we are quite a lot of ships.
    The republic is a good faccion but the cost is quite high, its also like a fo or empire faccion, that each error can cost you to much.

    For my brothers bday I made the mistake of buying a whole heap of empire and rebel ships on special not knowing that there was a recent game update to 2.0... turns out my purchase for the 2.0 core wasn't going to work with the 1.0 ships... solution... 2 x conversion kits... additional ship purchases and a 2.0 core for myself. $500 later and now I'm into xwing along with my brother. Was super annoyed about the mistake I made at first but really like the game myself so I don't care anymore. Gotta say it's not very clear for a new player.

  • @timunderbakke8756

    I highly recommend a new rebel player buy the expansion “Saw’s Renegades” from 1.0 - it was the transition wave which shipped with 2.0 components in the box as well. The sculpt is the new t65 as well, and it gets you a Uwing to fly as well which is an awesome support ship. I’d seriously pick one of these up if you go Rebels. Almost a must have.
    Empire also has the transition wave expansion Tie Reaper that has 2.0 content in it as well.

    Hyperspace is dead tho. All large scale tournaments are extended and most tournaments will be extended from here out as what’s the point in flying hyperspace if you’re practicing for the larger events

    • @Crabbok
      @Crabbok  Před 5 lety

      Keep in mind this is geared toward brand new players. I doubt that a brand new player will be gearing up for large scale tournaments right away. And even so, that hyperspace list will still be perfectly legal in an extended event.
