Hi Jerome! We are happy to hear that your installation process was a breeze! If you have any questions, feel free to send us a message on Twitter or Facebook, and we will be here to support you.
I used the included drill bit to drill into a brick wall. Maybe it works for soft brick, but it definitely doesn't work for hard bricks. I found out the hard way.
never trust the included drill bit. LOL treat yo'sef and get a good set of Dewalt or Milwaukee or Bosch masonry bits - they'll last for years. Plus use a hammer drill. Brick comes in all grades. I've seen some drill in like butter, others can make you want to give up the trade. you can also try to catch the seam between the brick and the mortar...
I live in Wisconsin and looking to buy the spotlight cam. And Wisconsin can get -10 or colder will the camera still work in the really cold day's and night's we get ? Thanks for any info.
Mine worked in -28 degrees one state South of you. It was so cold that all of the boards on my house kept cracking & popping all night & I couldn't sleep. The camera was fine, though.
Will the battery (wireless) spotlight camera ever have the method of defining the motion zones as the wired spotlight camera? I live in an area where there is a lot of bushes and trees so not having the ability to draw the motion zone make the camera almost useless for alerting on motion. I have the solar charger and the batteries stay fully charged so if not providing it is to save batter, that isn't an issue. I sure would like to have the ability to select which motion zone method to use.
It lasts me about a year but it depends how much it is used, the shortest it can go for is 6 months under lots of use, and yea you can check the battery level on the app, and it even notifies you when its low.
The very last step with the Philips screw is not true. the new spotlight cameras have a start head security screw instead which is an absolute nightmare to screw in.
Ring needs to update this video and at least the one that I received the screw of that metal collar for the mounting bracket won't work with regular Philips screw driver or the one that comes with it. In fact you will need a hex head in order to get that adjusted! And I only bought this on mid Dec 2020, so yeah they changed the screw type which is kind of stupid!
@realutube, you can pull the tip of the screwdriver provided. The hex head is on the other end. Figured it out a few moments ago. I would assume this is in the instructions but my wife probably threw them away a long time ago. It's been a year since we got the cameras but just now I started installing them.
so nothing locks the battery from being taken out after mounting so if you are away on vacation someone could come and snatch you battery out one day and come back undetected another day
Hi there! Your Spotlight Cam is secured to the mount through a security screw, and cannot be easily removed. You'll continue to receive motion alerts through your Ring app while you're away on vacation, and could easily deter any suspicious characters through the two-way talk function and share any video captured with local law enforcement. Hope that puts your mind at ease :)
Ring no im not worried about the camera being taken but that the batteries can be removed with ease. There should be at least a screw locking thw battery in. Thats a major design flaw
Gene Roland i dont see a security screw. There is a security screw on the mount to keep from taking the camera right off but. Battery door is just a button. I stuck with plug in version.
@@darnezzyd lets assume you p ut that screw on the battery cover. whats stoping the intruder from just spraying it with paint or smashing it, its endless in what someone will or can do. remember cameras, alarms are only deterants. its not going to stop anyone thats determined.
Why doesn’t the spotlight cam battery have a sensitivity adjustment for motion detection? I keep getting false positive from wind blowing on my front yard bush. This is the only thing that is preventing me in investing in another one or recommending Ring to my friends.
Hey Neighbor! We are sorry to learn you are getting some unwanted motion detection alerts. Can you give us a call at 800-656-1918? We would be like to take a closer look into this for you. We are available 24/7 and are always here to assist.
My sister just installed this at my home I am wondering does the cameras outside also pick up the noise from the inside of a home like conversations between the people living within the home?
Our house faces East and West. I bought a spotlight cam with solar panel and want to place it North and South to cover my entire small backyard. I want it on the South end of my house pointing north. Is there a swivel bracket for this camera to install it where I need it.
Can I just use the battery that comes in the box with the camera and just recharge that every time with the charger or do I have to buy a new one every time it dies. Thanks.
Hey neighbor! Rest assured, the provided battery pack is rechargeable so you're able to recharge it any time the battery depletes. You'll be able to keep an eye on your Ring's battery level in the mobile Ring App so you know when it needs to be recharged. Let us know if you have any more questions!
Hey Jeremy! While Ring Cameras and Doorbells will show an icon in the app if connectivity is low or interrupted, our Ring Alarm will send notification in case of loss of power or wifi. See more at ring.com/alarm and let us know if you have additional questions.
When trying to attach the ball into the anchor plate socket, the screw in the collar will not unscrew with the provided phillips head screwdriver. Any advice?
Is there anyway to mount it on top of something (like a 4X4 fence post), or can you only mount it on the side of a wall, etc.? I just can't see any way to do that. If I use that mount on top of a fence post, will it swivel all the way forward and be able to look forward? I ask because the mount doesn't point upwards.
Great question, Russell. It's important that you're able to properly install and position your Spotlight Cam, so you can begin enjoying peace of mind with your Ring of Security. Ring devices are made with the ability to install on most surfaces found at homes. Additionally, the part of your Spotlight Cam that mounts and allows the swivel does come with the ability to be at the top or the bottom. You can see an example of this being moved on the installation video at 2.42. See here: support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003821023-Proper-Positioning-for-Your-Spotlight-Cam-Battery. We hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any other questions. We're here to help.
Hi there, Jadamion. This is a great question. The Quick Release Battery pack used in the Spotlight Cam can power the device for months with normal use. Please note: this is dependent on a number of factors in your home's environment, such as the local weather and the number of activities captured. To help extend the battery life, the Solar Panel is a great addition as it will help to keep the battery charged for longer. The Solar Panel should not be used indoors as the Solar Panel needs direct sunlight to work properly. For more information on the Solar Panel, please visit this link: support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005282806-Solar-Panel-for-Spotlight-Cam-and-Stick-Up-Cam-Battery-Information.
Hey Ray, we'd like to take a look into this to ensure you can set up your Ring. Please send us a message on our Facebook or Twitter pages so our team can assist. You're also welcome to call us any time at ring.com/callus.
Hi neighbor. That's a great question, and we'd like to help answer it so you can know how long the battery takes to charge and have peace of mind. We'd like to help. The Quick Release Battery can take around 5-10 hours to fully charge depending on whether the USB cable is plugged into a USB port or a wall outlet. You'll see a green light on the battery when it is fully charged. We hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi neighbor. Ring cameras require a Ring Protect Plan to store and review the footage your device records in the cloud. Without a Ring Protect Plan, you can still view real-time video for Ring doorbells and cameras and answer doorbell notifications when they happen, but you don’t get video recordings of those events. You can learn more here: support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001671383-General-Information-on-Ring-Protect-Subscription-Plans. Let us know if you have other questions.

“How do we reset our old ring spotlight cam to use the newly installed extender's wifi signal instead of the weak signal from previous original router's wifi?” Would the camera need to be reset somehow, like right from the ring app in order to pick up the newly installed extender's wifi signal? Is the new boosted signals set up basically the same for any brand wifi extender? Thank you
Hello, @Hundert1. We want to ensure that you receive the best support for your Ring service, as it allows you to effectively monitor your home at all times. We are here to help. Open the Ring app. Tap the menu (≡). Tap Devices and select the doorbell or camera you'd like to reconnect to wifi. Tap the Device Health tile. Under Network, tap Change Network and follow the prompts in the app.
Ring, you have a massive design flaw. I have the spot light cameras. When we Installed them, they were great. But after 8 months I've had to change my WiFi router. I now can't reconnect my cameras as they are located on the front and back of my house at height and I need builders ladders to access them. Why would you out a button on the camera to press? Why not just do it remotely? I now have cameras that are useless until I can get a handyman with a proper set of ladders to come and press a button for me? Very simple mistake. This will cost me 30 quid at least to push a button as i have ti call someone out to access the camera 😄 🤣 thanks guys, awesome design.
Hi Lee. Your Ring experience is important to us, as we know how essential it is to have your Ring cameras up and running to monitor your home for your security. We will pass this feedback along to the appropriate team for review. Please let us know if you have any questions.
Hey Richard. We're happy to answer your questions. As a default setting, the lights on the Spotlight Cam Battery will only turn on for Motion Events when it's dark. If it's dark outside and your lights aren't turning on, you can adjust your motion sensitivity for triggering the lights. You can learn more here: support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000311583-Controlling-the-Lights-on-the-Spotlight-Cam-Battery.

Hey there. Motion detection range on Ring devices is up to around 30 feet with the Motion Sensitivity slider at the maximum level. If you turn Motion Sensitivity down, this range will be lowered. This setting can be adjusted in the Motion Settings. Let us know if you have other questions.
Hey Brady. As long as you have wifi, and a place to charge the battery, you don't need anything else to use the Spotlight Cam Battery or any of our battery-powered Doorbells. Let us know if you have any further questions, we're here to help!
Quick question, the drill bit doesn’t work on brick for, is it faulty? It just kind of digs a little crevice, no where remotely close to even a hole, much less a hole large enough to fit a screw. Do I need to get a new drill, or is it just not compatible with this surface?
Hey neighbor, thanks for reaching out. You should be able to use the provided drill bit on a brick surface. However, if this isn't working, we recommend checking with a local hardware store for what drill bit would work on a brick surface. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
Hey Kyle, we'd be glad to help ensure your Ring is only alerting you to important events. Please send us a message on Facebook or Twitter with a screenshot from your Ring's Motion Zones so we can review this. We're here to help!
Great question, Monique. As battery-life can vary depending on the number of events your Spotlight Cam records, we don't publish an exact timeframe. However, most users get months between charges with normal use. Let us know if you have additional questions, we're here to help!
Does anyone know how you secure the battery area to stop just anyone opening it and taking the battery out as on my other ring cameras there is a secure screw to stop people opening to take the battery out and disabling it.
Hi Jake. It is important that the battery stays inside of your Ring device to ensure that it is online and ready to protect and monitor your home. At this time, Spotlight Cameras do not come with a security screw to insert into the device to secure the battery compartment. Please let us know if you have any additional questions, and we would be happy to help.
@@ring what stops anyone from taking the battery out and cutting it off if they have bad intentions? Concerned as it’s for security of my home but if someone can disable it that easy then it’s not going to be suitable for me.

Hi! We installed ours on our house siding using the provided screws and no problem at all. The screws went right in. It feels very secured in place. I hope that helps.
I can’t get the ball into the socket. On this video it looked super easy. For me, the socket doesn’t go in. Am I supposed to loosen the screw holding the socket collar. If so, why is there not a screw driver that fits a star screw? Am I missing something??
Hey Chinyere, thanks for getting in touch. It's important that you're able to complete installation, so you begin protecting your home with Ring. Recently I had to replace my defective ring camera. I purchased a new one and got an upgraded ring camera. Upon installation, I found out that they changed the ball size to a larger one and changed the mounting holes 45° from the older one, which means I had to drill all new holes to use the new mount. I am asking WHY DID THEY DO THIS? WHOEVER DECIDED TO THIS IS AN IDIOT!!!
These instructions are confusing. She installed the bracket with the collar part up and the book instructions shows it po with the collar pointing down. My motion zones are not 30 feet more like 15 and that's not hardly enough, then the light doesn't come on with each motion detected.

Hello Firdous! We recommend installing your Spotlight Camera no higher than 12 feet from the ground for optimal motion detection, so installing it at 5 feet should be fine. We recommend testing it before installing to ensure desired performance with the Lights, as this may be a bit bright for visitors at almost face-level. We hope this helps!
Hey neighbor! You'll receive an email from us when your Ring's battery needs to be charged. Although in-app alerts for a low battery are not currently a feature, you can monitor the battery level in the Ring app anytime by checking the Device Health page. Let us know if you have any more questions.

Mine worked in -28 degrees one state South of you. It was so cold that all of the boards on my house kept cracking & popping all night & I couldn't sleep. The camera was fine, though.
I am in the twin cities and yes, but keep the solar panels clear of snow otherwise the batteries get very cold and die very quickly.
@ Ring... You need the make your camera's light only turn ON when the video is recording/triggered.
How long does the battery last and can I view how much charge is left by checking on the app?

Hi there. We appreciate your feedback regarding this, and will forward this information to the appropriate team. Thank you for being our neighbor.

I guess if you put it 30 feet high no one can take it out. But it has a security screw so no one can't open it
Gene Roland i dont see a security screw. There is a security screw on the mount to keep from taking the camera right off but. Battery door is just a button. I stuck with plug in version.

Why doesn’t the spotlight cam battery have a sensitivity adjustment for motion detection? I keep getting false positive from wind blowing on my front yard bush. This is the only thing that is preventing me in investing in another one or recommending Ring to my friends.

My sister just installed this at my home I am wondering does the cameras outside also pick up the noise from the inside of a home like conversations between the people living within the home?
Wots the max distance for a good clear picture with this cam , I ve never had one.

When trying to attach the ball into the anchor plate socket, the screw in the collar will not unscrew with the provided phillips head screwdriver. Any advice?
Try using the other end of the Phillips...it might be the Torx head that you need for the collar screw. Good luck.
How Long The Battery Last In Ring Spotlight Cam Battery And Do With Solar Panel And Ring Spotlight Cam Do Indoors!!!
Does the Camera have a built-in recording, like an SD card,

It was just peculiar to me, because at 3:02 it’s not on the device-the hole is open, then all of a sudden it’s there at 3:07 as the voice says “insert the weather shield” so I thought I was missing the “weather shield”. Can you confirm that that lower white round circle now covering the hole at 3:07 isn’t a necessary part?

Do you need the wifi to be connected at all times. If not is there any camera I could use like this one but in a place whit no wifi connection
Hello Rene. Yes, Ring devices require a wireless internet connection for operation. Ring devices are compatible with wireless routers running on 2.4 GHz and (for certain devices) 5.0 GHz. @@ring thank you for the quick response. In fact I would like to ask. Do you guys have any camera that can be use wireless and in a place where there is no wifi connection available that you guys can offer?
Those are great questions. We do have some devices that are wireless, and they're powered by battery. All of our devices require a wireless internet connection to work properly.
@@ring ok. I'm interested in the one whit the battery could work. But I can't get the wireless connection. There is no way I can use whitout the wifi. I mean it doesn't matter that I don't get notifications and all that stuff. For the reasons I wanted I will know that something has happens whitout the need of any notifications but I would definitely have the footage.
We would love to welcome you to the Ring neighborhood. However, based on the details you've given us, Ring cameras might not be the best fit for you. Our devices require wifi to work. To access the smart features on your Ring device, you need a strong internet connection. Without it, the device has no way to share data and other information with the app on your phone.
does the alarm go off on its own if set off by motion detecters or do you have to press a button on the app to turn on the siren

Is this spotlight cam weather proof?
Hey Keyur, the Spotlight Cam is weather-resistant, and will operate just fine in normal weather conditions :)
Ring lol. It will NOT work in cold night weather. It mists up in my mild California weather. It is a well known problem by ring(google it) but they fail to mention it. Camera is useless winter nights.
@@ring We have no problem with ours in cold conditions. (18-40 degrees)
