The R1 has somewhat of a “fuel gauge” if you use the scroll wheel throttle side and find “fuel con” you can see the gallons used and reset it every fill up. Not as convenient but it’s actually very accurate 👍🏾-2019 R1 owner
2020 R1 same!!!
Yeap 2022 R1 owner
23' r1 same.
I have a 2019 R1 in red. I love the bike. I don’t care if my arms, back and shoulders hurt on long rides lol
2023 black R1 gang
Man i just turned 50 and i cannot get off of sport bikes. I just love them so much and its all i've ever owned. I am absolutely in love with the sound that comes from the R1 and was actually contemplating trading in my 2014 gsxr 1000 for an R1 or BMW. Would actually be dumb of me considering the riding season for me is usually March (if lucky) through October.
Keep the gsxr you Should just get another bike
I am the same age with the same experience and I just sold my RR to get an upright BMW S1000XR. That is closest I could get to the sport bike without buying an naked bike (I already had the S1000R). I am trying to move away from sport bikes seating position. We usually ride March through Oct/November.
So at 50yrs old would u say that sport bikes are as uncomfortable as he says in the video. Could u actually ride all day if u wanted? I mean even my back started to hurt after awhile on my currier
@@My1KeyI'm not sure what bike is a currier?
I am at that same age and ride sport bikes. I have done over 400 miles a day on my sport bikes with no problems. You just get used to it. But there comes a point when you want to experience something different.
I'm sure everyone has a different take on this. Ride safe my friend.
@@EEEBA1 sorry in my last message I miss-spelled “cruiser” I ride a Kawasaki Vulcan. But plan on get a sport bike soon. Thank you for ur insight on the topic.
I'm glad you commented on the tight turns for this bike. I find I have to shift my weight a whole lot more on my R1 than any other bike I've riden or owned. Love it like no other though!
R1 has been my dream bike since it was released in 1998. Never been on a street bike except when I was like 5 on my dads Goldwing in a bike seat on the back.
Rode dirt bikes and own a WaveRunner. Have always wanted an R1. True Yamaha guy.
The uncomfortable is just temporary but the joy and happiness that brings you smile everytime you start up in the morning is forever 🤣👍🏻
I couldn’t agree more. I love the raunchy cold starts
Every motovlogger does not commute to work on the freeway it seems. I commute daily 15+ miles on the freeway. I’m tucked and now consistently pushing my bike to the limiter 90-150+ mph on my 08 fz6. Now I really want an r1 because I got passed while going 153mph 😳. If you’re athletic and have ridden road bicycles for years, I feel fully fairer race bikes should be no problem. You need strong legs tho for sure
Couldn't agree more, its always guys from suburbs complaining that their back hurts, meanwhile I'm in California crossing bridges and having to lean to counter the crazy wind, im so glad to have a windscreen vs a naked bike, screw that
Illegal. 130mph is all you need
Agree. I race bicycles. If anything for a 6’ plus guy I find these bikes not aggressive enough. Would love more saddle to bar drop personally.
@Toxic Flame it depends on what type of riding you do though.
There’s that ‘R1 around the World’ guy, and yes he used to race bicycles, don’t think he altered the seating position one bit.
I had an 09 r1 which was the first year of the Big Bang engine and I absolutely loved that thing. Can't even imagine how the new ones are
The brakes feeling spongy is an effect of the brake pads not being bedded in. They do get better when there is some material on the disc and the first layers of the pads are worn off. But I see your point... Also with Sportbikes being uncomfortable, they are uncomfortable. But that is like going to an ice cream shop and saying that it's the coldest thing you can eat. Well, duh! hahahaha xD
Last R1 I owned was a 2006. Why did they stop putting the pipes under the seat? That is just such a clean and aggressive look!
I swear
Facts. Had an 07-08.
I have a 2022 R1 and absolutely love it! I thought the same thing about the brakes at first. Found that it took about 150 miles to break in and work great now! Just an FYI on that topic. That is me personally and can't speak as to how they compare now to other sport bikes.
hello, did u find the handlebars/leavers to be in an awkward position? wrist hurts after riding over 30mins.
@@alichacha968 not in my case. Although I'm 6'2" with quite large hands. Ergonomically it was a match for me. You can always have the dealership adjust them or do it yourself. Hope this helps
If it's new bike, the brakes are not "burned in". I had the same feeling on a brand new mt-09 2021 for let's say first 100 km.
No lol
@@maomekat2369 Yes lol
Why is the dot 4 yellow? Should be clear.
R1 brakes are not very confident inspiring mate. No matter how many k’s you do with it. Just need to go for a aftermarket setup
Funny you mention the foot on the pegs position.
I got told once by someone I gave credibility to that i should always have the ball of my foot on the pegs.
Circulation issues ensued in my legs.
I think i give you more credibility so I'll adjust when not riding Rossi style. 😁
🤩🇺🇸👍I have an 84 Gpz 750...in mothballs. A 2020 R6 and a 2022 60th anniversary GP edition R1. All I can compare it to is an F-14 Tomcat! The brakes are designed with racing & road riding in mind. Don't compare apples & oranges! Safe riding!
music made me laugh idk why lmao
I love love love my 2019 Yamaha R1.
About them brakes, I reckon that the pads aren't burned in yet. 0.3 miles, it's spanking new.
9:27 The "uh's" and the"hum's" got me.
Did you just troll us with that music showing the bike 😂
That’s what I’m saying 😂
When you are just a kid, you look at these amazing sport bikes, they are so cool, so flashy, breathtaking even. Then, once you finally get your hands on one, you realize just how impractical and out of place they are out there on the street.😔
Truth. Your only gear 1-2 & gets so hot any traffic
I find sport bikes pretty comfortable. I race bicycles and have excellent flexibility and core strength. Long distance rides aren’t an issue as well since you can periodically stretch out by draping your legs over the frame sliders. In town they’re more practical than cruisers and easier to lane filter than big adv bikes.
sorry i dont buy and ride motorcycles because they’re “practical”. i ride because it’s cool and fun and i like bikes that are cool and fun
I'm grown and i still think they're cool.
I’ve been a cruiser guy my whole life. Been thinking of getting a sport bike. Nothing like this of course. Beautiful bike.
Yamaha really need to make a modern version of the 2009 R1 because it's the best looking R1 ever made period.
2014 was the last model of it and has the daytime running light if i remember it correctly. I agree wit you it was the best looking r1 ever. The bike just looks like it will eat you alive!
I don't see why Yamaha couldn't put all the 2023 R1 features and tech into the 2009-2014 R1. I'd 100% buy the bike if they did.
I know to each his own, we all like what we like. But i thought that model was one of the uglier bikes. Then again i wasn’t a big fan of any 09-16 gsxr1000 either. I think they both became their best in recent model updates. But personal opinion only 👍
If you're tall or have long legs this is the bike for you the triangle for the legs is so comfortable
If it's brand new, then the brake pads just haven't been bedded in...
yea that's his point 200mph bike should have nice brakes right of the factory
@seanliver593 man you can buy the absolute best brembo or sbs pads, you still have to bed them in. The bike is irrelevant. Then setting up the brakes, type of fluid etc is another story, have to mess with that of every new bike to get it as good as can be. Hopping on a bike for a short test ride won't tell you much.
Unfortunately a lot of people do not like the brakes on the 15+ R1’s which can be attributed to the undersized master cylinder, a simple swap to a Brembo RCS-19 will completely wake up the brakes
@CosmoE12 yerp. 44teeth did a good road to race series with a new r1 recently. Pads made a massive difference, think they put z04's in.
@@kevinmckeon2543I bought 2023 1290sdr brand new from crate.
Brakes were on point since new.
Should a first time street bike owner buy this bike ? Looking at one this week!. Ridden many off road bikes and some street bikes
I got my m1 thru the company u used 2 work for ryte there. Instructor Brian said u went by fast Eddie I think!! Did u say they went outta business? Been thinking of attending an advanced course just have never went back.
You just stated it has no miles. You have to break the brakes in to get rid of the sponginess.
Couldn't agree more. I love sports bikes but can't ride them for more than an hour (maximum). My son has an R1 and I have the MT 09 Tracer. Admittedly, my sons R1 looks way cooler than mine but mine is far more comfortable and can ride it for hours at a time with no problems
thats why I have a 2015 R1and a 2013 FZ1 best of both worlds
Just bought a new r1 and it has quite a bit of engine vibration is this normal never experienced this on my prior litter bikes
Had a '21 R1 and the brakes are complete trash. I swapped the pads/fluid and it was a bit better. For power, R1s have around ~165ish RWHP so only about 180-185 HP. Sad to see Yamaha hasn't done anything about the nearly 10 year old display. Only thing I miss about this bike is the lovely sound from the CP4. Currently ride a '22 S1000RR.
Sounds like you didnt get your bike tuned. They scooped out the top end to make it the first euro 5 compliant bike. You can add it back with a flash. Mine makes 191 at the rear wheel
This is similar to my situation, except I moved from a 2020 r1m to a 2022 s1000rr because the engine on the yamaha had a defect and failed in 2 years and 24k miles, with very tame street riding. I did get a bren tune, which blows away any untuned bike at low rpm, including the s1000rr. But the braking performance of the s1k with those low inertia carbon wheels is simply mind-boggling. As long as the brakes provide enough force to lock the wheels, any carbon setup will be superior. To do a fair comparison, you really need to put carbon wheels on an r1.
Guy could
Of tunes the bike but instead get a shittier bike 😂
@@ja31472engine defect? Is this widespread or just yours? And what was it exactly
my '17 R1 had 207hp at the rear wheel, after tune.
Don't sweat the age my bro, your a baby, if you think your old. I am 54 and I ride a 1989 FZR1000R. The granpa of the YZFR1. LOL... Age is just a number. I actually feel your age, kid ya not.👍💪. Ride on mi hermano. Be safe!
I like the origional 360 soundtrack better. This was your outro song man. You know we don't change up stuff like this... Unsat. 🤣😂
No fuel gauge? Why? So does it quick shift or regular shift? Or just QS?
I have a r1 thé brakes are great!!!! When They are brand new they Just need some time. Its the best bike I ever owned. Its So smooth (for à super sport)
How DON'T you understand that the brakes aren't very sharp right now? As you stated in the beginning it only has 0.3 miles on it. The brakes obviously aren't burned in yet
Because he as well as some of us simply didn't know brakes have to be worked in. It isn't exactly obvious or logical that brakes have to be worked in
Will you review the Tracer 9 GT+, too?
Well as for the brakes that reservoir is dark yellow its supposed to be almost clear not sure why thats so old looking.
A track bike on the street, what a concept.
Ok boomer
🤓
A Harley rider on a sport bike episode?? Get lost
The brakes feel spongy because they havent been worn in yet.
single best 1000cc bike for beginners because it has the best electronics out there to save your ass
if you need electronics to be able to ride the bike then that’s a wrong bike
That’s not what he is saying: I was a brand new rider and my first bike was a 2023 GsxR 1000, reason I wanted it was cause of the modes n extra electronics. Didn’t wanna buy a 600cc and in a year want something more powerful. But I’m not one to act crazy on bike either so I have the power when I want it.
@@alexk4804 Missed the point - Ive had an R1 (2018) both on road and on track riding in UK (where corners exist) within your limits the electronic settings are a level above aprilia and ducati (maybe bmw have caught up) - which means there is an element of safety
@chris vannatter did you have any prior experience before buying the GSXR 1k
The garage band hit different
Hmm wondering if the brakes were not bed in when you road. Never ridden an R6 or R1 newer/well maintained that did not feel great on brakes
What about the oem battery of the R1s?
My 2019 model is always reluctant to fire up, even if the battery has been fully charged...
Wait what’s wrong with yours? I have a 2019 regular R1
@@808Affliction nothing's wrong.
Just the starter sound is not as convincing as other bikes I have preciously owned. It seems like the battery is less powerful than it should have been placed at first place. At least that's my opinion.
right on they look great but not much comfort i owned an R1, also if you hit an object your head will hit it full on because of the position the handle bars put you in ,unlike sit up bike you will roll over object
It's not just about these sport bikes being uncomfortable. The powerband is usually garbage for city riding. Pay all this money to ride around town at 4k rpms in 2nd gear.
That’s why they built high ways 💀

Yes but not everybody goes on a highway for their everyday rides. Some people don’t even live near any.
It’s a far better bike than the BMW or the ZX-10 way way better! I’ve ridden them all and the V4S and my new 23 World GP 60th is light years ahead and very very fast!
That’s ur problem. Not the bike’s problem
If you ecu uncorked and get rid of the factory emissions/exuast the r1 is a demon.
This is true for pretty much any modern bike though. ZX-10s pull as much as 70hp at higher RPM because of emissions
@@yummyhershey5902so you’re saying if you ecu flash the r1 and zx10r the zx10r will have way better performance?
@@gangsta_pigeon8023 I'm saying that all litter bikes in general are demons these days. Tons of power left off the table because of regulations.
@@yummyhershey5902 ohhh alright, kinda unrelated but would you wanna give your input on the zx10r or r1? i prefer the looks and sound of the r1 but have heard lots of bad things abt it lacking in technology and some other things. Should i maybe wait a year or two and see if yamaha updates those things or just go with a zx10r?
@@gangsta_pigeon8023 well whichever bike you buy is completely based on preference. If you feel that the weaknesses of the R1 don't make up for the sound, then I'd go with the ZX-10. I don't think Yamaha will have a major update for another few years.
How tall the aprilia rsv4 factory? How you tried it? Is it taller than this?
Already made a video of it
If theres no fuel gauge, how do u know when you’re about to run outta gas?
Also im 5’6 how far can I get away with lowering it before I screw up something
I’m 5’6 also but I ride it without dog bones 🦴. Tip toe
I have my son's 2020 R1 in my garage, that shit scares me t'hell
In an ideal world where I already had my license and I had enough money I would get the MT-10, just love that engine but I don't care for the riding position of sport bikes, they're cool as hell, but kind of not practical for the city... Maybe in a more open town with rural roads
What do you think? Her or s1000rr 23 ?
Amazing review, please do the Suzuki Boulevard thanks.
Boooo
Yes please
cool music bro
When will they update this thing already? I miss my old 2012 R1, but I don't want to buy one only to have a far better one be released thr next year.
Those gaps are a pain in the rain as the wheel flicks it up through the gaps on to you and the bike
I'm on my 2nd R1. Both were bought as track only machines. Both had conservative pad compounds, and a pad change was all that was needed. This is a track bike, with street gear on it. I wish they would sell one without the street gear, but not a more expensive GTYR track version. The stock pads with feel better, given a chance to bed in. I think Yamaha knows most will add pads of their choice, as well as shock of choice, so they wisely don't put much $ in those areas. No one needs a big screen, or cruise control, on a track bike, so at least we don't pay for more useless street gear, on top of all the smog crap. Few can really touch this bikes limits on track (including me), much less on public roads.
instagram.com/motojitsuclub/
He said cool music 🤣 anyway great review!
Have you ever ridden an Aprilia RSV4? I'd be interested to see what you think. Imo its the best handling and best sounding bike in the world hands down.
The R1 has always been a cool looking bike and the 2023 is really hot in my department but I ask with those sharp track day egonormics why would a sports bike need cruise control? But then again maybe I am just old, these young ones can sustain those positions for long periods and at 38 you are still young, wait till you get to around my age, then scramblers and nakedes will become very appealing never the less good stuff👍
Riding a sport bike down the highway w cruise control is nice . You can sit back and relax and then when it’s time to get gone you can do it no problem .
@@KTony-go6zt oh, that's cool, but isn't it fatiguing riding in that position for over 1hr? That's why I am more drawn to retro bikes nowadays.
So short lookout for: Brakes, way too soft right, and in the need for a bigger screen also, yes.
Thanks.
I must buy one before they stop making them now! 😢
8:00 says it all
feels a little unfair to be critical of the brakes when they are not even broken in. Even though the brakes are usually a common complaint with the r1, still does not sit right.
Nah the brakes suck compared to other competitors. Broken in or not lol. They’re not terrible but if you’re comparing it to a rsv4 or a s1000 or something that comes with brembos the r1 brakes are just not powerful as they should be
On my ZX-6R brand new with 0 miles had no issue with the brake feel. It seems this is a common issue with the R1.
Maybe brakes haven't sitted in yet since it's brandnew?
No cruise control?
Makes me appreciate my bmw. It’s a 212 hp comfortable missile. I put 6k miles the first 6 months I rode it. I can’t imagine doing that on a bike this uncomfortable
I need your help guys pls. I am gonna ride with a passenger this weekend. My bike is a SUZUKI GSR 600. My big question is: what pressure should my tires have to ride duo? I’m 86 kg and my passenger is around 80 kg. Thank, if you can give me some help.
Keep the rear tire at 36-40 psi maximum and leave the front at 32-36 psi maximum. It's not the tire psi that needs to be increased to handle the additional rider weight as much as it is the rear suspension (spring) preload that needs to be dialed up. On a Suzuki 600 you should dial the preload up near its maximum for your 166 kg (365#) combined weight. Then both get on the bike and ride a short distance. If it still feels too soft (wallowy or bouncy) then dial it all the way up and try again. If it felt too stiff, then dial the preload back down a little bit. This whole process should only take 2 or 3 tries and 15 - 20 minutes to make sure you have a bike and suspension that are both safer and better handling than leaving it set up for just your weight.
@@kenbowlus2995 oh my god thank you so much 🙏🏻 for real. I’m asking about tire pressure because after my firs duo-ride (don’t worry, I know how to set the rear suspension to ride safer. I did as you said: adjust, ride, adjust and so on, until I found the right position of the rear-susp.) i noticed that my rear tire (but also the front a little bit) had worn out more in the centre, it was flatter in the middle of it. That’s why I was worried about tire pressure
@@jamesrrapaj1987 You do ride a sport bike, which usually means a bit softer rubber compound for better grip/ traction/ handling/ etc. and the accompanying faster wear with the added weight of another rider. Can the bike move that weight? Absolutely. Will it come with accelerated wear to components? Absolutely, and that means brakes, shocks and even the rear seat, not just the tires. If you want better wear from your tires, then it comes with the compromise of going with a tire designed for more weight on a regular basis to begin with, such as tires more oriented toward heavy sport tourers. They won't handle as well, but they'll last a lot longer.
@@kenbowlus2995 thanks a lot 🙏🏻 even if my bike is a naked is considered a sport bike? You’re right, I got Pirelli Diablo Rosso III on, maybe that’s the reason why my tire is already worn :)
Actually ALOT of people do use a sportbike for what its ment for on the street, ever herd of gixxer brah??
R1 is beast 💯. Congrats dude!
"Man complains about sportbikes"
I bet the comment about spongy brakes was because they weren't bedded in as well. It a brand new bike mr I know bikes.
Man, what state are you in? Those roads look very" Michigan like"! Horrible. But I see palm trees, so obviously not a cold state.
I’m between r1 or zx10 and it’s a hard choice
R1 is amazing with mid and high end power. Also the sound is ear gasmic lol I low key bought my 2019 R1 for the looks and the sound. It’s a really aggressive seating position that makes your back, arms and shoulders but ohhh so worth it. Lol
Lordy that showroom floor pan made my eyes hurt 😖
Whats the most comfortable liter bike?
Liter With clipons? Hayabusa
s1000rr
Gold Wing. They even give you an extra 833ccs.
I went through a few of them to find a comfortable one and I would say it's a toss up between the s1000rr and the CBR 1000RR (not the RR-R that's turbo aggresive)
S1000RR has more options like cruise control but the CBR feels easier to use. (Also price wise)
I ended up buying the CBR 1000RR SP from 2019 and ride 30.000km a year with it. And I have done 14 hours on a day (with some small food breaks). Couldn't give you a long term one for the rest. Only did some small test laps to decide.
Not sure about my inseam but I am 188cm for refrence. The r1 especially felt hella cramped to me.
GSXR felt runner up to the bmw/honda
Kawasaki ZX10 I didn't like the handling of and the fitment felt weird. But wasnt uncomfortable just wasnt for me.
hope it helps
Gsxr
I am not keen on faired bikes. I think the trends changed to comfort but faired bikes just look complete. Someone offered an r1 or just an mt09 I'd take the mt09.
Right now I'm trying to decide between an Mt09 SP or bmw s1000r gen 2
@512460 I just brought the xrs900 in black. The engine which shares is with its brother mt09 is and sounds amazing. Take your time. I've been looking for over a year and it's felt right. Gotta feel right and in the right price . No regrets.
@@kangacrew540 yh the xrs is nice. My only gripe (pre 2022) is the ones that have the lamp like rear light. However mainly in the U.S I've seen the conversion kit that turns it into an led strip that runs directly below the seat with integrated turn signals.
Looks sooooo good.
As for 2023 and up I really don't like the tail section
@512460 yeah we all dint like different things. Have to weigh it all up. Happy hunting.
The music wtffff 💀💀💀
I’m 31m an I to young for a FJR? I either want that or this 😅
All the bikes he has compared are brand new, none of the other new liter bikes needed "to break in there brakes"
Did he say cool music with the walk around?..
I want one
I'm surprised at the lack of fuel gauge - like, what is it, 1993?
Aside from the S1000rr, very few sport liter bikes have fuel gauges.
They're designed for the track, not the street. They made them road legal because they know people will ride them on the street anyway.
The R1 and ZX10r have "basic" fuel gauges, in that they'll display how much fuel you've used since the last top up. But many SS's, like Ducati's, or the Fireblade, or the GSXR have no fuel gauge. It's just a part of riding a track bike on road.
Cool music?
Boughten ?
This is my next bike but man those mirrors are nasty looking
For a 2023 that break resivor fluid looks old. Should be clear. Probably why it's spongy
I like Yamaha, but the seat is too wide for my long legs. LOL
Is the R1 still competitive with other 1000cc sport bike? I mean R1 hasn't have an update in a long time in terms of power I think it's lagging behide the new 1000cc are so much more powerful like the RRR-SP , ZX10R and the S1000RR
What do you mean by 'competitive'?? It won British Superbike last year, World superbike in 2021 and 2nd last year. It generally does very well in stock classes too.. so yeah it's very 'competitive'.
@Kevin McKeon I did not know that I tot the R1 was becoming obsolete since yamaha did not update their R1 in a long time I tot it was becoming an old relic 😅🫢
@@demonsoldier602 I know what you mean but Yamaha play it rather smart in my opinion, yes "on paper" they are behind other manufacturers in terms of power but in actual "racing world" they still have grat achievements. Also starting this year 2023 they're offering the GYTR program to all R1/R1M owners and directly selling parts that they use to race in WSBK. That's cool and exciting for me
all it needs is ecu flash to unlock its power like pretty much any newer bike
You have to realise that these things don't matter for most people. Get what you want to ride every day, what you want to wake up to, what you look and say damn I've got a cool ass bike. Even if the other 1000ccs or insert any moto vs any moto here is faster 1-2 seconds it really doesn't matter.
you definitely don't sound as excited about the R1 as some of the other bikes you test ride.
Don’t usually like to bust on the creator, but…the title of the video in no way matched your review “The 2023 Yamaha R1 Is BETTER Than I Thought”. The only positive you genuinely gave was how good the quick shifter was. You basically complained about everything else, besides the power, which all 1000’s have anyway. Btw, this is not coming from a Yamaha Fanboy. I am GSX-R all the way, and am in the market for another bike, and your video title made we watch, almost for nothing. You seem plenty knowledgeable about all types of bikes, but maybe stop the click bait with the titles. Although way too many creators do it, so I maybe shouldn’t talk crap. But, you probably could have done just as well with “The 2023 Yamaha R1 Is Nowhere Near As Good As I Thought It Would Be”.
Your not old bro. Only the water Buffalo gets old.
Wait wtf do you mean no fuel gauge?
It's a new bike, the brakes have to bed in.

I understand the idea that full on sportbikes are basically track weapons and so all sorts of stuff is left off even a damn fuel guage here??? seriously?? (as opposed to a touring bike for instance. But I think the manufacturers are totally missing an entire market I mean TOTALLY and that would be to make a sportbike for the same kind of old guys that want a very capable sports car WITH luxuries and a bit of driving comfort....no NOT a whole oter model but an actual porsche 911 or cayman just not the track version but bike builders dont do that you have to look to a whole other model. See I envision an R1 or S1000RR or Fireblade version actually MADE for an older rider that WANTS the bad ass for real deal but softer edged AND including all the comfort options! Is that really so much to ask? I think whichever brand does it first will be surprised at the sales volume. BMW comes the closest but they insist on keeping the hard edged ergos and power band! See simply relax the ergos and put the sing R motor a luxury version of the RR ! Yamaha could do the same building basically an MT10 that shares looks with the R1 Why is that so hard? The fairing would have to be slightly opened up for slightly higher bars and the footpeg placement adusted accordingly ...ALL the comforts otherwise...think motorcycle version of old man's luxury sports car based on the SAME model as the bad ass versions! NOBODY will do this! WHY Not?? What I think is the marketing idiots cant get tje model norms out of their heads so they think it has to be a "sport tourer" a totally different look made to haul luggage and a pillion NO! THAT is NOT the old guy (with money) dream SPORTBIKE he can be bad ass on WITHOUT destroying his comfort and pleasure! Some bikes get close but they all miss the mark. Triumph makes an appealing 1200 speed triple with a cafe fairing that misses the mark due to the ergos. WTF? The manufactures INSIST if you want a racy rairing then you MUST have ridiculously low wrist killer clip ons! If you dont like it they say then buy the naked....DAMN IT! I dont WANT a naked! What I want is an R1LX An R1 with full comliment of MT10 options MT10 tuning relaxed ergos but looking full R1 all it will cost to develop is some new rearsets, higher bars and a bit different upper fairing to accomodate the bars ....otherwise MT10 rather than race track,,,,is that really too much to ask for??
