Unfortunately, the resellers have taught the thrift stores how to look up merchandise and price it much higher than before.😢 I love how your garden is turning out to be so lovely, in spite of the workmen in and out of there. Enjoying your video mix. ❤
I volunteer for a non-profit that has several thrift outlets. With all the resellers buyer and flipping from them they have encouraged their managers at each store to compare pricing, still allow some wiggle room for their large reseller base but consider increases within reason for their little stores. Example given was if a reseller buys for $1, sells for $20, why should they not reap benefits by increasing their pricing. Due to this new environment us that buy for our own personal use will pay more, but still hopefully a deal that beats buying retail.
And you paint your own basement floor. You are truly a renaissance woman. I hired someone to paint mine. It was just one of those things I couldn’t handle. I’m always dazzled by how organized you are and your boundless energy. You really seam to enjoy your work.That’s a bonus. Yes, you are correct. Jeffrey from Real Nifty Vintage has a real passion for anything with flamingoes on them. Of all those who resellers I watch here on CZcams, you are the nicest person of all of them. You are always polite to all the sellers and never make disparaging comments or make them feel like you are doing them a favor by buying their items. I wish you much success in your endeavors.

Prices have gone way up because the thrift stores have learned how to look up the value of something & sale for a higher price. In my area where there are fewer stores; prices have unfortunately skyrocketed starting in the $ thirties taking the fun out of thrifting for your home.
This is why I so enjoy this channel. The many many different places you take us & the thrill of a great find…plus your willingness to share your knowledge & good business sense & your personal happiness. Your genuine kindness & humor comes through naturally. Your a joy to watch, like sharing a moment with a friend.

I agree about Goodwill prices, however what is the difference in what a reseller doing? They buy cheap and sell much higher. It’s the same and the reseller has much lower overhead than Goodwill. The increase in minimum wage in many states have caused prices everywhere to rise as well as gas, rent etc. remember Goodwill is a business. They have disguised themselves all these years and now we are finding out what they are really about.

My husband is a decoy carver (has done some competition pieces). Decoys are often carve from many different pieces because of the grain of the wood. One piece would not be as strong etc. He does “shooting” decoys and decorative. Each competition and style have their own rules. 🦆🦆🦆Anyway that has been my experience 💕

I also have been staying out of goodwill. I don’t resell. I poke around for something I want for me. Goodwill is just getting crazy with their donated items. I agree. We should all support other thrift stores.
Liriope is easy to divide and spread. Your hostas look ready to divide and spread next spring, also. Unify the various styles in your bedroom through a consistent color palette. Consider 2 color palettes, one for warm months, one for cold months. For example, the earthy brown of your new pillow covers with earthy green and/or blue for summer and earthy brown and orange, red for winter. Love your garden.
I do enjoy most of your videos and certainly wish you and roger much happiness. I was abit taken back when you mentioned cards or gifts. I realize there must have been a request for your address from several fans to send their well wishes but thought your reference for gifts was tacky.

Yes I use motion sensor lights on the outside of my cottage. Lights up when I come home in the dark. Love them!
Your Peonies are beautiful. We can not grow them in central west Texas. Way to hot and dry. One of my favorite cut flowers along with hydrangeas and roses. Beautiful garden.
Hi Karen, love your videos, so relaxing! For thrifting down here in Tasmania, Australia we have 'Vinnies' (St Vincent de Paul), 'Lifeline', 'Cancer Foundation' and many others. It's good because if prices are too high in one thrift shop, people can always go to a different thrift shop. I've picked up some bargains for my home and it seems that whatever I'm looking for, magically appears in a thrift shop when I need it 🙂
As a reseller I have spent a fortune in and now I refuse to pay their ridiculous prices, unless it's something for myself that is reasonably overpriced for Goodwill. And yes it is garage sale season estate sale season and flea market season where the prices are ridiculously good.❤ Maybe Goodwill will learn a lesson
Our local Salvation Army Thrift Store is more expensive than Goodwill. Example: Dresses : Salvation Army $10.00 ; Goodwill $4.99.
Goodwill has the highest prices where i live. And hetti g higher than new prices. So wrong. They are not charitable. Maybe we need to stop donating to them! And then they will get the idea!
GW in my area say prices are going up because of resellers. Also told this by a private owned resale shop.

Hi Karen, I’m sure Roger knows about Redline hot wheels, rarer ones can sell for up to 5 grand. Once in a while in your videos I’ll see hot wheels, can’t tell if they’re the reds but keep and eye out. The tires will have a red trim around the tires. My biggest car find was a few yrs ago at a yard sale There was a 1967 Hot Wheels Redline Custom Camaro Gold that was in a box of cars for $25 that one car sold for $ 718.00 eBay ( 50 bids) it was exciting lol. There was a couple of scratches on the paint, better condition would of sent price in 4 figures for sure. I know cars aren’t your forte but you just never know right? Sensor lightning would probably work real well. They work really well outside, their easy to install, and you don’t have all those cords! They provide soft lighting where they won’t be so blinding!

those beaded fruits I made those when I was kid they came in a kit it was a whole fruit basket ... banana, apple, grapes , peach and I think a pear after I was finished my mom kept them a basket on her hutch Every time I got sick with strep throat in teh fall I had a craft to do while in bed

I have a very eclectic look in my home. Mid century modern bookcase over a buffet. I turn of the century pub table. My pine round dining table with 4 deep red chairs. I’ve had the table & chairs 43 years and I still love them. I have a new cream sofa w/a button tufted back. Crazy mix but I love it. 😊

My stepson has worked for Goodwill the past 15 year's and told me the employees now get a percentage of the price of the item they are pricing,so the higher the price,the more they get,that's one reason for the upc labeling.

I absolutely love the juxtaposition of more modern pieces and antique/vintage pieces. I tell my daughter to buy only what she truly loves and not just likes and there will be a beautiful cohesiveness because subconsciously and consciously, we are attracted to the same color families. "Buy what you love and it will all go together" I tell my daughter.

And by the way, Poshmark buyers are crazy about st.john! I've had about 8 suits put away for a year-and-a-half I don't even know and I finally decided to put them up. I just closed my shop and I have thousands of pieces of clothing. The minute I posted a vintage beaded st.john suit, I got offers left and right, likes like crazy and within a day I sold it for 500, I had listed it for 595 which was cheap based on what they sell them for on Poshmark but I was more than happy with 500. I bought all of these in Goodwill two years ago when the prices were normal and probably paid $10. I have other skirt sets up there for 395 495 right now.

Resellers are the reason the prices are going up. Some people go to GW because it's what they COULD afford. Now we have resellers buying low from people who need it and selling high and super high on something. JS
