Louis is the best. Just happened to stumble across your reaction today and I am always glad to hear other people appreciate the pure genius of Louis, Keely and Sam. I found him in the mid 90s a couple of years before I became a DJ at a college music station. I used to play Prima a lot and told every one who would listen how amazing he was. Must have worked to a certain extent because Louis and swing music in general made a come back in the late 90s
I've probably seen this video back in the '60s on some kind of variety show. they were showing old videos cuz I think that's a 40s video. sometimes you would see him and his band in comedy movies. like you said, he's got swag.
Thanks for this reaction it was great. You are right about the "Jungle book" connection, King louie was modeled on Louis Prima and he voiced the part in the movie. Please find a recording of Keely Smith singing as she has an amazing voice when not playing "straight woman" to her husband's antics. She is part Cherokee indian if I remember correctly.

Keely Smith was a great talent and the ultimate "straight man"

Theres a video of them doing Night Train in 1957 that is ON FIRE. Sam Butera's best sax performance on video.
He voiced King of apes King Luie in Original Disney Jungle Book from 1967
I don't think Louis Prima ever worked a day in his life!
He's enjoying himself way too much for it to be a chore!! 😃
