😂👍
The '80's? No, this was from the '50's. Check out the David Lee Roth version. That's from the '80's
@Michael Baldwin I have that video recorded, but i can't find it. That was a fun video...
I remember being a teenager and rewinding the humelabebela... part (D.L.R. version) over and over, to get it down.
Ya'll should talk a little bit more about what y'all think and like about the songs. The videos that y'all put out aren't much longer than the songs.
David Lee Roth would have to stand on his mother's shoulders to kiss Louis Prima's ass. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Van Halen but Louis was the original rocker!
I know the 80's version but not the 50's (not THAT old 😉)
Yes the David Lee Roth one, please!
Louis Prima was the original rock star. He wrote "Sing, Sing, Sing" and his cover of "Old Black Magic" is THE BOMB! Oh yeah, Sammy Butera on sax subverted the laws of physics.
I like Sing Sing Sing when keely sings it
Laws of physics, need not apply`~`!
I watch Sam in his 60's jumping up and down on one leg blasting away on his sax towards the end of many songs.
I saw, I can't explain it , but I saw it!
Louis Prima and Cab Calloway were the original rock stars
Prima is an underrated beast. He’s the boss d’or me, way beyond Sinatra, sorry.
Louie Prima was born in New Orleans. You can just hear all the different influences.
He's also heavily Italian if I remember
@@aceystar1478 yes
Hi guys! Louis was my grandfather (nonno ❤️) and I just wanted to say I’m so grateful you guys gave his music a listen! I know he would’ve been so happy to know that people are still listening to and enjoying his music. Have a great day!
An absolute legend he always makes me happy listening
whoah is your dad louis prima jr?
Your Nonno is a legend!
Your Nonnos music is awesome by the way "baggiagaloup makes love on a stoop" and "Dominic the donkey" are two of my favorite songs!
My grandfather brought me up on big band, and especially Louis Prima. Your grandfather was and is an absolute legend
in the '60s there was a joke that went something like "what did the head say?" the answer was "i ain't got no body" and people caught the joke because it was such a well-known song. glad you guys like this. it's complicated music
I love seeing people reacting to my favorite music. And I love that intro
Whoa! You went deep on this one!
Louis Prima was a baller. That cat was a wild one. I read that Louis refused to cancel a bunch of concert dates to play for Sinatra’s niece’s birthday party or something so Frank kept him out of Vegas and stifled his career.
He ended up playing Tahoe and stuff instead.
He should have been way bigger than he was.
I was actually there in Resort's International rendezvous lounge watching David Lee Roth groove and cream out over the tightness of Sam ẞutera and the Wildest play this , I knew he was gonna steal it.
Sam was mad , but he did copy ignore for note, and at the end of the day , that was the only way it would get out and be heard by the most people.
That's the music industry.
David experienced the vibe , the super happiness there that happened and he shared it with a larger world of people.
I was a sounds there and worked rehearsals with Sam ẞutera and the Wildest , tightest and most meticulous musicianship.
They had to be tight to get it to sound so loose!
Great you had that experience!!! I've loved Prima since I was a teen back in the 50's. Only recently did I come to recognize the huge role Sam played in all of his music. I always loved the sax but never paid attention to who it was. I now have several of Sam's albums. He played damn wild! Their uniqe sound will always be around, the Louie Shuffle! It just made you move and move. If you didn't move, you were dead.
I absolutely love you guys. You always embrace every style of music and give an honest and heartfelt opinion. Two genuinely kind young men! Adorable when you both nod your heads to this at the same time 🤣😀
The sax player, Sam Butera, did this arrangement for Prima.
That part. You know it. Awesomness.
The old school jazz music was so smooth it doesn’t get any better than that real facts 💯
This version is from 1956...the 1980s one is by David Lee Roth...another Prima tune you should listen to is Jump Jive and Wail...killer tune! Then check out The Stray Cats version from the 1980s of the same song...you will love it!
From 54*
You’ve got to see him on stage performing this. The clowning around makes it magic!
Back in the 80's vibe! Lmao
Pronounced Lewie Preema
I love that you young guys listen with an open mind!
P. S. my teenage son says the same thing, "let's listen to 80s" then the song he plays from his phone is from the 50s. 🤣
Say it “louie preema” and he was leading bands from the 20s on up thru 70s. His wife Keely Smith was the big voice harmonizing near the end.
Louis Prima is my dude!!!
Videos like this keep the greatest eras of music alive
One of my favourite songs 🕺🏽
Mad luv for LP....
LOU EEE PREE MAH
It is a pleasure watching these two young men listening to music from different genres & eras than what they might listen to customarily. It doesn't matter if they mispronounce Prima's name - in all likelihood, they have never heard it said out loud before. If they listen to him some more, they'll catch up.This is a music education that they would not be getting in school.
Back in the 80s 😂 try the 40s and the 50s! Haha
His voice is so unique. He had a lot of comedy involved in many of his other songs.
Need to see this song performed live to appreciate he’s hilarious as a performer
The do-oh-ze-do-uh-bop stuff is scat. Try out Ella Fitzgerald singing/scatting "It Don't Mean A Thing if it Ain't Got No Swing"
Swinging is another way to groove. Make you wanna dance shake heads and smile !
Back in the 80's vibe😂😂
I remember my mom listening to Louis Prima and his wife Keely Smith on the radio. They were great talents! 🎶🎶📻📻🎶🎶
Duke Ellington 'Take the A train'....The Big Bopper 'Chantilly lace'....love from L.A.✌😎
Might be a few Louis Prima & Keely Smith videos available. He used sing & mug around her & she wouldn't even crack a smile. Just sing. But, that was part of their act.
Sonny and Cher watched mesmerized as they played Vegas early on and lifted that for their act.
This was 50s and great to dance to! Louie Prima was the leader of that band and singers, and one of them was his wife, Keely Smith.
I LOVE YOU DUDES DID THIS!!! ITS A BALLER CLASSIC!
Man this song swings so hard
Jumpin' Jazz with a light touch of swing and a dash of rock and roll!
I actually still own this yellow album and still love it! His wife was Keeley Smith and she sings on it too. This is 50s, not 80s.
My name is keeley. Wow I have one of her albums and had no idea that was his wife.
Growing up in a Italian household Louis prima was played everyday
What I would give to listen to this song for the first time again. Very jealous of y'all gentlemen
And then there was David Lee Roth… 😂😂😂⭐️⭐️⭐️🕺🕺 now that was 🤔🤔🤔 80s vibe
Theres a video of them doing Night Train in 1957 that is ON FIRE. Sam Butera's best sax performance on video.
Probably the greatest swing song ever!
Please please please do Louis Prima's "There'll Be No Next Time". One of the all-time great songs!!
love this one! "you shouldn't have gone to the airport" LOL
Actually That one is by Sam Butera
....and it's called " SCAT".. what Louis Prima is doing. Loo-ee Preema that's how you pronounce his name....I requested some songs in that last comment....PLEEEEASE!! How do I request songs? I love you guys!! My son is your ages & he's got some powerful jams..GALILEO is his name. STARRY MESSENGER
You should do Louis Prima and Keely Smith Hey Girl, Hey Boy
Yes! Or That Old Black Magic
@@giabryan3467 Oooo I love that one
Check out Louie Prima doing “Jump Jive and Wail”.
I love thst you went to louie prima
2006 doc Louis Prima - King of the Swingers.
Just an hour long. Shows Louis for all of greatness, and some of his faults. Good watch.
80's 😂
Love it. I want to see y’all reaction to “the bigger the figure” next!
His back up band was Sam Buyers and the Witnesses
This is the sound of New Orleans in the 50s , New Orleans was the birth of jazz music when blues mixed with up tempo african rhythm. Without this birth, modern music would be nothing like it is today.
You have to watch Louis Prima perform live!
Recordings are ok, but they can't show his performance skills, his humour, his funky moves, & his stunningly gorgeous wife, keeping him in check!! 🤣
You are ADORABLE!!!!..now, I would like you to listen to BOW WOW WOW....GO WILD IN THE COUNTRY!! Would you do that for me??!! What do I need to do here, gentlemen? How about HARRY BELAFONTE..singing ANGELINA..oooh..here's another one....VIOLENT FEMMES..BLISTER IN THE SUN..PLEASE? I'm tellin the WHOLE WORLD ABOUT YOU....A MILLION LIKES!!!! THIS Corona virus got nothin on you going VIRAL!!!!I love ya both!!
Mary Mitchell or Big Country
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. 80s vibe? Rhaaaaaaaa omg I feel so old now… I don’t know what you both saying to each other🤷♀️ but my lovely young men I think you’ll find this is more a 50s vibe and true music. Now do you know what a gigolo is? 😂😂⭐️⭐️👏🏻👏🏻 it makes my heart melt watching both of you appreciating this, give me this any day than Rap. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was late 40s or early 50s. Love louis, apart from Disney jungle book his music is featured in a lot of Italian mob movies
Thank you for your interesting comment. I can't help comparing Sam's raspy tenor sound to that of Earl Bostic.
Sinatra used to go see him
That's how David Lee Roth got there.
All the big showroom stars would clock to what ever lounge he was playing like cultists to see their God!
Plus, it was fun to have that much fun in a small room packed like sardines.
The nanny state Goveners would simply explode if they knew.
This isn't from the 80's, it's probably from the late 50's or early 60's. He was frequently on The Ed Sullivan Show, which featured singers, bands and other types of acts. Louis Prima was also a popular night club performer. Unfortunately he passed away in 1978.
Welcome to actual jazz, fellas!
80s hahahahahaha this song was way before. From 80s you were probably thinking about David Lee Roth's newer version. In the 70s, the Village People did it. Louis Prima reinvented this song in the 1950s, with a Swing taste. Bing Crosby did it in the 30s. Many a remake from a 1920s French song. There could be others before that. Glad you liked it and I'm sure someone else is going to remake it.
Funny as all hell watching these two rediscover a time we all grew up with 50+ years ago. Hilarious to watch their faces.
Lol noooo that was back way back... 1950
I Love Louis Prima
another great italian
Song is from 1959, but respect that you dug it. David Lee Roth's version might have been from the 80's.
Lew- ee Pree- ma....xoxoxo
Saw this oldie on The Suicide Squad and been trying to find reactions. Cool. Song was the fer definition of cool, and it's a sad song originally.
Back in the 80s🤣🤣🤣
You need to listen to the song sixteen tons and Mack the Knife....2 wonderful classic songs...also familiarize yourself with Frank Sinatra as well! 😊😊
Nancy McLaughlin thank you didn’t realize that! Just started listening to them within the last month or so, so really don’t know who they have listened to already during this past year they have been doing this! Thanks for the link and the heads up!!!! 😊😊😊
Summertime by Billy Stewart - add that to your list for sure
Louis was smooth - for an old lost treasure try - Screamin' Jay Hawkins - Little Demon
Check out Night Train, Sammy Butera got down
@Twinsthenewtrend... You guys have to do (The Music Goes Round And Round) by Louis Prima... Great jazzy tune.
How can you be a musician not knowing Prima
“Keep it up”
He’s dead
You guys got some real class. Back in the 50s.
Lyrics:
I'm just a gigolo and everywhere I go
People know the part I'm playing
Paid for every dance, selling each romance
Ooh, what they're saying
There will come a day and youth will pass away
What, what will they say about me
When the end comes I know there's a just a gigolo's
Life goes on without me
I'm just a gigolo everywhere I go
People know the part I'm playing
Paid for every dance, selling each romance
Ooh, what they're saying
And there will come a day and youth will pass away
What will they say about me
When the end comes I know there's a just a gigolo's
Life goes on without me
'Cause I ain't got nobody
Oh and there's nobody that cares for me
There's nobody that cares for me
I'm so sad and lonely
Sad and lonely, sad and lonely
Won't some sweet mama
Come and take a chance with me
'Cause I ain't so bad
Sing on, pretty love song, all of the time
She will only be, only be
I ain't got nobody
Oh and there's nobody that cares for me
There's nobody that cares for me
Nobody that cares for me
Nobody that cares for me
I ain't got nobody, nobody
Nobody that cares for me
There's nobody that cares for me
I'm so sad and lonely
Oh lonely, oh lonely
Won't some sweet mama
Come and rescue me
'Cause I ain't so bad
And I'll sing her three love songs all of the time
'Cause she will only be, only, only, only, only, only, only be my baby
Come on, sugar, darling, honey
[Incomprehensible]
And there's nobody, there's nobody
There's nobody, there's nobody
There's no one, there's no one
[Incomprehensible]
Nobody, no, no one
Nobody, nobody
Nobody, nobody
Nobody cares for me
Jump, Jive, An' Wail!, Whistle stop, 5 months, 2 Weeks, 2 Days and Beep Beep. Also try SAM BUTERA AND THE WITNESSES - BIM BAM
Harley brought me here 🤷🏼♂️☝️
Highly reccomend "we'll meet again" by Vera Lynn
More Prima please!!
Yes Night train please.
Do Jump, Jive and Wail. I think Louis Prima was a brother at heart. He definitely had jazz in his soul.
Louis Prima was a proud Sicilian, from Louisiana
Its loueee preema, guys! 😁
His name is pronounced like this "Louie Preema". His wife was the female voice on that song as well. He was know for going off of script and being quite goofy at times.
You'll like David Lee Roth's version frontman and lead singer of Van Halen
Please react to the cover of this song done in 1985 by David Lee Roth..very iconic
Back in the day....Frank Sinatra reigned supreme...except for louis prima. Dude rocked the house and he got more girls than anyone.
80's!!!!! This was late 50's or early 60's.
Lewis primer pissing my pants!
This my friends is what God sounds like
Zooma Zooma
Louis “Pree-ma”
Back in 80's vibe?? lol And... do you know what "a gigolo" is? Just curious. Otherwise, I'm happy you're taking the time to listen to different music. Keep on going guys.
That s Sam Butera
The where like NASA high level mad scientists musicians!
Your heads were nodding with the beat before the end of the first measure.
That was drummer Chuck Steven Angolia (Connie Stevens brother), sometimes I had to bring his vocal boommike down because would go into a trance and make these weird sexual growling noises.I
When it first happened we were like , " what the hell , where is that gargoyle noise coming from? "
Hmmm..., Doesn't sound like 1980s ... U mean 1880s?
This recordin g was from.1956 or 57
Not the 80’s guys!… the 1950’s 👍
Louie, Preeemah
Did you say eighties sound young blood 😂
VAN HALEN!!!!!!!
