  • Experience firsthand the rapid decay of motorcycle skills as I go out for my first practice session in three months, post-winter hiatus. In this video, I meticulously dissect my slow speed motorcycle maneuvers. U-turns, left and right turns, single cone weave, and the challenging keyhole. I break down every mistake and misstep along the way. Join me as I expose the stark reality of skill deterioration and the invaluable lessons it holds for riders everywhere.

      No doubt Rick! I was surprised how much my skills deteriorated from only 3 months off. However, they did fine back fairly quick. As always, appreciate you watching brother

    This is way cool. On the same platform idea as Dan Dan the Fireman.
    I used to watch him a lot at my start of riding motorcycles. I wanted to know more about accidents on them and why. Doing that helped me be more aware of what to look for, what to expect and how to react.
    Then I found Robert Simmons then found you!!!

      Thank you Miss Jenni! Yes, I can see the similarities from Dan Dan. Doing this also helps me realize my mistakes and work on my problem areas.

    Just south of you, during our February spring I went riding, no practice, didn't ride a single time in January and not much in December
    But my winter bike is my touring bike....... sport touring, Versys
    You would certainly whoop my butt in a competition
    Starting from a stop into uturn......you going to right turn front wheel to right, lean right.........you can, and it takes practice mainly to gain confidence, turn front wheel to left and lean a little right
    Wheel turned left makes bike lean more to the right, leaning more to the right the bike reacts to keep from falling over...turns wheel to right, and it whips you around, it does actually work

    You must be part Brit. You nail the U turns if you ride on the wrong side of the road as they do. I never get either turn that tight, so I must be from the ocean.

    I was riding up Hwy 50E towards Tahoe when the road was divided due to construction. On one side (left) the new pavement was about 4" higher than the other (right). I was afraid to jump the lane/curb at 70 mph. If the front tire goes up and across and the rear tire doesn't you might flip your bike as I have seen on a Vago video (very low speed). These are the kinds of lessons I would really appreciate. I am a new subscriber and like your presentations. How would you approach this situation?

    • @JoeGoeMotorcycleAdventures
      @JoeGoeMotorcycleAdventures  Před 4 měsíci

      First off, I appreciate you subscribing! If I was in your situation, I personally would just wait until the lanes are even again. It sounds like it was a pretty big difference between the two lanes. Better safe than sorry especially at a high rate of speed. Or, you could slow down (as long as it's safe) and cross over to the other lane at the straightest angle possible of the two lanes. You wouldn't want to just laterally move over. Hope that makes sense! Kinda like crossing railroad tracks. You want to ride across railroad tracks and not in the tracks.

    • @mpista7182
      @mpista7182 Před 4 měsíci

      @@JoeGoeMotorcycleAdventures Thanks Joe ! I got off the Hwy and turned around. The blacktop was new and still shiny from oil. I was in a small group ride with some (I'll say) anonymous "Rough Riders" heading to "Street Vibrations". It was new asphalt and 4 in is not a great exaggeration. They were going around 80mph but I decided to "ride my own ride". Better ditched than dead.

    • @JoeGoeMotorcycleAdventures
      @JoeGoeMotorcycleAdventures  Před 4 měsíci

      @mpista7182 that was a smart choice my friend! Don't get peer pressured into something you don't want to do!
