When I heard the words Sargodha and Buddhism at the beginning of this video I started jumping and dancing over my bed. What an utterly fascinating news, even more so for an inhabitant of Sargodha district like myself!
I wish more such excavations are done. What could be more fascinating than excavating a bronze or terracotta Buddha, Yakshis and Vaikuntha Chaturmurti from Punjabi plans. And Kudos to Dr Muhammad Hameed for this amazing work.
As I spend most of my time in Lahore these days, I would love to have an audience with Dr sb, and see these sculptures in person.

Thanks for your interest and valuable comments. You are most welcome to our Department of Archaeology University of the Punjab New Campus Lahore.
Regarding the current research and finds, I believe that the true potential and impact of Punjab hasn't been studied in the real sense of the words. The key role of the region is still unexplored. I believe that Punjab is the area where kingdoms were formed, culture development and civilization emerged. The areas around Sargodha and Jhang played pivotal role but we haven't talked about it. I also wish to continue my research and find more conclusive evidences related to Buddhist, Jain, Hindu, Sikh & Muslim traditions. We also need support from people like you. Regards

      Thank you, sir!
I think there are quite a number of potential archaeological sites just in our own area. I mentioned it to Salman sb earlier that the site of old Bhera, now called Ahmadabad also deserves some attention. Similarly, there is a mound near Miani called Tibba Ashab. Some Indo-Scythians coins were found there in the British period. Valley of river Jhelum has always been one of the most fertile regions in all the subcontinent. There must be many ancient settlements along the banks of Vitasta-Jhelum-Hydaspes.
Many many villages are built over mounds, and are colloquially known as "Ahli".
Lastly, thank you again for your kind words!

Unfortunate because we have been driven so far away from our cultural heritage and historical pride that we don't even bother to know and listen. We have that extreme inferiority embedded in our blood that we have become blind, deaf and dumb with no desire to reflect on our brilliant past. If someone from west talks about our history and interpret our culture, whether right or wrong, we happily accept and keep imposing that narrative on us. Our own people are very judgmental and judge our personalities, language, appearance rather than the contents of our talks. I am working on the mission to make my land and people aware of the outstanding heritage and history we have and giving them the sense to take this pride. It's a continuous effort, I know but very much hopeful to achieve the results with the help of people like Sir Salman you, & others.
      Thank you.
