I recently subscribed to your channel. What a delight to hear all those interesting stories! I bought your book "Between Two Burrs on a Map" from Lahore in 1995. Fascinating journey in the Karakorams! I brought that book with me to US and still have it in my possession. Keep up the good work!

Sir, huge respect for you. You're an amazing person. I can feel why you're hurt, we don't honour our heroes.... We're always fascinated by foreigners, whether invaders or visitors...

According to Alexander Cunningham, Jalalpur or Girjak was the capital of the ancient Kingdom of Kekeya, mentioned in Mahabharata and Ramayana.
Kekeyi, one of the wives of King Dashratha and the step mother of Rama was the daughter of Ashvapati, the King of Kekeya.
According to Vishnudhermottera Purana, this kingdom was later ruled by Bharata, who founded the cities of Takshashila and Pushkalavati, named after his sons Taksha and Pushkala.
So it seems that the Kingdom of Kekeya was somewhere in the present day Pothohar region.

Alexander selected the wrong place to settle the city, it establishment in a flood plane and the city vanished in the very next flood. We knew our topography and geography better. We were more wise in settling our cities and naming.
