Thats what I like to see, a man with parts on-hand. I know a few guys that drove 10 mile, wast a halfhour to buy 3, 7 cent screws, us 2 and repeat the trip to return the other 7 cent screw. lol. true
My Dewalt DXV10p just stopped and I cannot find any information anywhere to see if it has a thermal fuse but after watching this i am assuming it should, i hope.
I have never clean enough in my garage to burn a thermal cutout on a. vac but I`m not saying it will never happen in the future....Burnt a vacuum??CHEERS

Just had my DeWalt go on me. Plugged hose, smoked a bit, then dead. I will take it apart like you did and do the ohms test.
Yep , most likely the thermal fuze is blown.
I hav stainless steel 10gal Dewalt. Did you fix it? I might try this method too

Your on the right track , dmm across the fuse to check for continuity . You can get a thermal fuse online - amazon.
