    I know you made this 3 years ago, and I imagine your teaching and coaching has grown a great deal since then. This video seems to go narrowly and deeply into filling out the cards without showing how Smartsheet is useful in supporting Kanban projects. Specifically: I think one of the leading strengths of Kanban is its simplicity, and its related speed. When setting up a Kanban board it's a good practice to throw as many tasks as possible up on catalog as many tasks as possible before going back to do a deep dive on the details in each card. It's a great way to take a head (or room) full of tasks, and quickly throw them up on screen in order to start organizing them. It's very helpful for the brain to brainstorm at one level before moving onto the next level.
    I also think it would be helpful to talk briefly about how these cards would be used in a stand-up meeting. How do these fields become relevant? What does it look like when a card is Due? How does Size or Priority change the way Smartsheet displays them? These details help reinforce the utility of using these fields.

      Thanks for your comments! Much appreciated. Agreed there is an opportunity to go much deeper regarding the value of Kanban boards and applying this approach real-world. Cheers!

    This has been an answer to my prayers! Our office uses smarthsheet and I am trying to learn how to make it work for me. This has removed about a thousand sticky notes from my computer. I feel so much more productive. Thank you so much for this video!

    I love this Concept Kandis. I have tried to make forms/sheets be functional in the card view, but have come up short. My question... can this be embedded into a Smartsheet Dashboard?

    • @PMPexpert
      @PMPexpert  Před 3 lety

      Hi MJ - are you thinking about a dashboard for each team member, only showing the tasks assigned to them? Or with different functionality? So many options!

  • @Oldguytechreview
    @Oldguytechreview Před 10 měsíci +1

    Kandis, this is amazing as never knew that functionality existed in smart sheets - now, I am praying - does it also have the capability to export import kanban boards from other software - assuming fields are the same - I am thinking of the big one - JIRA/Confleunce ??

      Hi and I'm happy to hear this information was helpful for you! There is something called 'Smartsheet for Jira Connector'. You will need your system administrator (for both Smartsheet and Jira) to set this up. You can learn more here: help.smartsheet.com/articles/2388677-smartsheet-integration-with-jira. Good luck!

    Can we restrict reordering or moving cards in Card View? We dont want our team members to change task order in card view.

    • @PMPexpert
      @PMPexpert  Před 9 měsíci

      Hi Patel! The Owners/Admins of the Workspace have the ability to 'Lock Columns' when in 'Grid' view. This will prevent team members from being able to change anything associated with those columns. Please let me know if it works for you, based on how you have setup your Kanban boards. Good luck! Here is a good overview: help.smartsheet.com/articles/522077-locking-unlocking-columns-and-rows

      @@PMPexpert yes I tried that. But that only prevents it to move from one person to another. But still they can move it up and down in their own column.
      Only way I found is viewer only permission. But we want them to click the check box when they finish the work and move to next task. That do not possible with view only permission.

    Can to do's be added within a card?

    • @PMPexpert
      @PMPexpert  Před rokem

      Yes, you can add a 'subtask' to a card in Smartsheet! Expand the card by clicking on the 'v' in the upper righthand corner. Then, down at the bottom of the card it will give you an option to 'view subtasks' or 'add subtask'. This is where you can add them. Thanks!

    How can I rename the first column that is uncategorized ? I've tried almost everything but it's impossible !

    • @PMPexpert
      @PMPexpert  Před 9 měsíci

      Hi Esther! Sorry I'm late to respond to this. I'm guessing it is the primary column that is giving you challenges. In card view, the title of a card will always be the field value for the sheet’s Primary Column, which may explain why you cannot change it. Here are some additional things to think about when working with the Primary Column (to include best practices!): help.smartsheet.com/articles/504645-primary-column. I do look forward to hearing how it is going!
