Benedict Bridgerton could change everything we know about our favorite regency family. Will Benedict Bridgerton be gay or bisexual? Will we be introduced to his love interests-possibly more than one? Bridgerton season 3 will skip over Benedict’s love story to focus on Colin and Penelope, but that doesn’t mean Benedict will be forgotten in this upcoming season. We could get a glimpse into his romance in season three and maybe the Bridgerton creators will surprise the fans once Benedict gets his central romance.
The third Bridgerton novel, An Offer from a Gentleman follows Benedict Bridgerton as he falls in love with Sophie Beckett, a Cinderella-inspired character he met at a masquerade ball. This book-and its central romance-is a fan favorite

Bisexual Benedict who still ends up with Sophie is my favorite option. A bisexual is still bisexual even if they end up with a partner of the opposite gender, that is not queerbating in any way, and those who think that way are probably biphobic. The show wouldn't be in any wrong. The show has also done an amazing job exploring and making us fall in love with the character's journey and development, so I would love to see this play out ljdfbgfd

People will always be upset if there isn't an lgbtq character who doesn't break the mold and end up with their counter-part, but this one could satisfy more. I'm sure people will say it's a cop-out for him to end up with a girl, but it's literally a period piece and it would be so beyond taboo. Plus, it's based on a book (mostly). I honestly think it's better to keep him as an ally and then give light to characters who are queer rather than make him bi for the sake of having a main character be bi. Seeing how Benedict has flirted and been promiscuous with women and then shocked but then accepting of Granville and Wetherby does not mean he will suddenly be bi. I feel like characters less explored like Francesca (who kept disappearing for 2 seasons and has now been recast so it's perfect time to start developing her character!!) Would be perfect and wouldn't feel like a cop-out or after thought. Plus the whole idea of Boston Marriages - which I know were from the late 19th/early 20th century and we're looking at the early 19th century, but they could be the early days - the first to partake you know? Maybe I'm reading too much into this lol.

I have read Benedict's story and have watched the first two seasons so many times. Benedict loves women. It would be unjust to his character to rewrite it. I have also read his story and there is no mention of the possibility of his character being bisexual. I will never understand why a man who is artistic and open with their emotions, etc has to be either bisexual or gay. If you read Benedict's story, no where does it mention this. I think it does the opposite to the character. I think the screen writer did a brilliant job demonstrating how one man is forced to hide his sexuality and love for a man during a time when it was forbidden. I think it does injustice to try to make a period of time more than what it was.

I maintain it was a mistake to skip Benedict, it's too early for Penelope and Colin. Talking about time jump, Ben and Sophie were only a 2 year jump. Penelope and Colin take 10 YEARS to get together.
They should have done Benedict's season while also introducing / having Francesca go off and marry her first husband in the middle as part of the 2 year time jump or something.
I love Sophie but if they keep the exact same story but just make it same sex I'd be cool with that too. They already created this alternate reality in terms of race so I suppose they could equally pretend gay marriage was a thing as well in this timeline.

It’s too bad they didn’t incorporate the entire JQ Bridgerton world from the start. So many of her other romances included the Bridgertons in so many ways it would have given them time to let characters grow. It would have expanded the world of Queen’s work, would have included all the escapades at the Smythe-Smythe performances, and further cemented the role the Bridgerton’s played in the London season. Fictionally speaking of course.🤣

Benedict had a while spiel about admiring/loving a woman and then afterwards slept with another woman that we hadn't seen before, but some of you still refuse to believe that he in fact loves women. At the VERY least, he is bi, not gay. Being an artist and loving the arts doesn't make one gay. It also doesn't make one not gay; it literally just means a person is an artist and loves the arts. I seriously can't believe people are trying to make Sophie male. A problem some of you have is seeing romance in every male interaction. There's a difference between platonic interactions and romantic ones. Benedict looking at a male character or being friendly to another make doesn't make him gay.

Benedict has to fall in love with Sophie, what makes his story great is that unlike all the other Bridgertons Benedict knew instantly and it was absolute. by exploring his sexuality the only way it would make sense is if he searches for her again and can't find her, where he then moves into trying to recreate that moment.

Not sure where this bisexuality with Benedict is coming from. I saw him feeling a little uncomfortable about seeing another male with a male but ultimately accepting it. Benedict’s story is my favorite and I would be so upset if he ended up with someone other than Sophie, regardless of the journey (bisexual, non-binary, or other sexuality) he takes to get there.

If you want to add a new one I support it but please let's stick a little more to the books, this is going from an adaptation to a fanfic. Plus it's too early for colin and penelope. What happened to Francesca and the 10 years it takes for these two to get together? But if it's Colin they don't have to make a big fuss about it. They could just make mention that he went back to one of those Granville orgies and his partner wasn't a woman. Perhaps it could just be something he admits to Eloise during one of their secret smoke talks one night. But there's nothing more to it, it was just something that happened and he doesn't have to label it or make a bid deal about it, if anyone would understand it would be her.

The lady in silver and Sophie cannot be separate people. It’s an integral part of their love story, that to Benedict it’s always been Sophie even before he knew who Sophie was.
I think they could rewrite Sophie as a man, as long as everything else about her is the same.
Honestly their story might even work better in the show if Sophie was a man, bc in the book Benedict is NOTHING like in the show. In the show they basically switched Benedict and Colin’s personality types from the books. Colin was the fun playful charming brother that everyone loved. And Benedict was also those things, but in a much more reserved way. He didn’t joke as much, he was much more serious (like Colin in the show. Still charming, but by no means carefree). And when he meets Sophie as Sophie he’s at a party, much like the ones Benedict in the show loves, and it’s important to setting up his character and his relationship with Sophie that it’s established that he hates those parties and tries to avoid them. Sophie never would have needed up with a man who loved those parties. So maybe having a Stephen character who is still very much the responsible and duty bound Sophie, but a little more care free, a little more adventurous bc he is a man and it’s more acceptable for him to be that way

Take this comment the way it’s intended, bc this is coming from someone who sees the gay in EVERYTHING. I love a gay love story, I ship gay pairings on shows I know will never happen. This is not coming from someone who says shit like “why do they have to make everything gay”. All that being said…
Where is this bi/gay Benedict idea coming from???? Yes in the first season he was friends with a gay man, and he, after being a touch uncomfortable bc of the society they live in, accepts this man for who he is and respects they way he lives his life. This is part of how they foreshadow his relationship with Sophie. That he’s less rigid about society standards, and is capable of just caring about a person regardless of how society tells them to feel/ behave….. but Benedict never shows any attraction to the man he’s friends with. Other than being mildly confused and wanting clarity on the situation, he shows no intrigue in pursuing a similar life style. If Benedict was gay or bi, we would have seen this in any of the sexual debauchery type scenes. We don’t. He’s always showing a preference for women. We don’t even see him look lustily at a man.
I’m not saying ppl can’t wish for outcomes, or ship whoever they want. As I said I am an avid shopper of gay relationships that will never be. But that’s not how ppl talk about Benedict. They don’t talk about it in a we wish this would happen way. They talk about it like it’s something the shows been setting up and it’s canon in the show that Benedict is confused and sexually intrigued by men and.. no it’s not. We have seen 0 evidence of this in the show and I’m so confused by these comments.
Am I wrong??? Like is there a scene I missed where he wistfully stared at another man? Or is all of this just based on he didn’t condemn a gay man so he must be gay/ bi himself??

I don’t want to sound mean, but I hope Benedict isn’t gay or bisexual. I mean, it would be too weird, he was flirting with women for the past 2 seasons and in the book be falls in love with Sophie. I mean I’m one of those fans because I find it funny that Benedict doesn’t know that the lady in Silver is Sophie, and I laugh at that. So they better not screw up Sophie’s character! I love her because she’s both Cinderella and has the same last name as Sam Beckett (from Quantum Leap). I want season 3 too follow the book. I mean, the past 2 seasons inspired me to reread the first 2 books again, and I want season 3 to inspire me to read the third one. So I hope that they don’t skip Benedict X Sophie. However if they do, well I would be sad, because Benedict x Sophie are my favorite couple. I feel like it he was gay or bisexual, it would ruin it for me.

Benedict ending up with a man is weird BECAUSE... and hear me out ...being gay was illegal in that era. That said I would love to have him be in a love triangle but both male characters saying that it's too risky to be together. Benedict would end up with his book-love-interest but his sexuality could be explored.

Ughhh do not make someone non-binary. That concept and social construct did not exist. I like the fantastical, historically inaccurate elements in Bridgerton, but making someone non-binary just breaks the facade. No one will believe that this is a regency show anymore. It will just be pandering to those who demand queer content for the sake of having it. They've done great so far at keeping thinks engaging, still following the general path of the books, and allowing a window into what it could be like to have been gay during that time. Sexual orientation is one thing, but gender amalgamation or decentralization just would not be a topic in the early 19th century. I would so rather they explore a "Boston Marriage" archetype with Francesca or even explore asexuality - though I doubt that would work in the thirst department for this series.

I don't care if they make him canon series bisexual or even have some little thing with a guy. He just needs to be end game with Sophie. People who will scream queerbaiting can go continue screaming on their own. Bisexuality ending up with opposite sex is not queerbait.

Being bisexual it’s fine and all that but I don’t think they need to make it all that. Remover he can’t end up with a man openly based on the time period for the same reason many where in the closet. Henry was in the closet and he kept quiet because it was bad open “society” and we know based on S1&2 their are different type of scandals through the the show but at the end they are still scandals and their family’s are frown upon. From Daphne having a intimate act with the duke, to Marina being unwed and pregnant to even Kate falling for her sisters future husband/ex. It’s not only about their sexuality because I don’t want to seem homophobic or something but if they change and let his character be openly/accepted gay the whole plots and conflicts that are not well seen based on the time period won’t make sense any more! The whole point of the show is to explore this time period realistically to what it was with a honey coat on top but not glazing over everything too! I feel they can make his character bi- and show that in the closet era aspect but it’s pushing it if they change his book love interest to a man just to inclusive which is unnecessary based on the time period and plus their are shows with well representation . I just feel if they make this one exsaption the whole show loses its point . Anthony could of married the opera singer(I forget her name) Penelope could just come out as lady featherington and be accepted by society despite of all she wrote Yk the whole plots before wouldn’t be as dramatic / important just because of this!

Quinn’s books seem to be nothing more than a guide of plot with this zany non traditional production series. I don’t allow myself to take the series seriously as any kind of historical recreation. It is a ROMP. A circus like soap opera that has nothing to do with how things actually were in the Regency Britain. It certainly is animated. Many times it is outrageous. I’m waiting to read that they had introduced space ships to the ending. Like Dynasty did. I lost interest after the first Season.

I'm all for Bi Benedict gosh I hope sooo much they do so! I think it would be more wrong if they make it only look like he is pining for a man while not actually exploring a gay relationship. Let them kiss, let Benedict confess his feelings for a man. Then make it somehow that he falls in love with Sophie (while maybe not killing of the male love interest) and it would be 100% realistic and also in the period more acceptable.

Stick as close to the book as possible for the first representation of the book series. In a year or two, producers can come back introducing homosexuals and binaries. Both would draw a following.
Or, if you really want to draw an audience, just never come out with it. Leave the audience wondering. So far, the producers/director have done a wonderful job.

I would actually love to see bisexual Ben who has a great, sweeping love with a man. Even if he ends up with Sophie, that's totally fine! Bisexuality doesn't disappear just because you marry someone. And they could use that to explore a new dimension of the real restrictions put on romance in a time so heavily romanticized, which is something the show has done really well so far. That juxtaposition of "I love you but we don't live in a time that allows us to live happily ever after" isn't what people want to see nowadays, but it was a lived reality for us for most of history. It was what I grew up thinking would be my reality. So I think there's definitely a way to tell that story that is sensitive, bittersweet, and respectful to rather than voyeuristic of queer people and our struggles.

Benedict has had many on screen dalliances with ladies of the ton. I hate the idea that they would choose to keep his sexuality hidden until now. It would come across as baiting. Also, if he had a romance with a man that we had seen throughout the first two seasons, it would have given Sophie a realistic contender for Benedict's affection. Fans of the show could have grown to love the LGBTQ+ suitor. Team Sophie vs Team Mystery Person. Kinda feel like they missed their shot. To do it now feels like an after thought.

Why dose there need to be lables, love doesn't have lables or boundrys. There is a character in Deep Space 9, who is a 'Trill' their species join with another species called 's symbieant' who called ' Dax ' is neiather male or female. Dosent take over the Trill but becomes one with the trill & the trill can access all the Symbants experiances as they live many life times. My point being the symbiant dosent prefer male or female its the person not the sex.

As much as I love love love the idea of Benedict being gay, I really don't think a male love interest being endgame would be possible if they still wanted to stay in the era the show is set in. They would only be able to be together in private. I think that having him be bisexual and explore his sexuality but have him also fall in love with and end up with Sophie would be the best option. He can explore and make his choice, fans can have an LGBTQ+ character, and the story will have a more realistic (for that time period) ending.

Being Bisexual is exactly that. It's NOT being homosexual. Seriously I would love to see a bisexual character. When you're bi you might end up with a woman or a man but being with either doesn't make you gay or straight. That's the whole point. I really think that ppl who don't get this have a lack of empathy and aren't bi so they don't get it. Bisexuality is very misrepresented.
