BAD Origins and GREAT Origins: Deadpool and Wolverine

- It's no secret that with the upcoming Deadpool and Wolverine movie on the horizon, and X-Men 97 doing gangbusters on streaming- people are more curious to revisit the Fox X-Men universe than ever before. With Wolverine receiving a spin-off of the original X-Men trilogy with "X-Men Origins: Wolverine", fans were generally disappointed and even downright let down by the immense dip in quality from the franchise's earlier installments. This included a horrific introduction to Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson, AKA Deadpool. In his first outing as the character- Reynolds was excited to play the Merc with a mouth until production issues and studio meddling led to the eventual bastardization of this once beloved character.
But after years of fan-driven demand- 2016 saw Reynolds finally give audiences the proper Deadpool adventure we all wanted. The story to getting there? It's bumpy... Let's get into it!

There was 2 movies in 09 I enjoyed origins and terminator salvation. Don’t care what anyone says 😂. Deadpool in origin was whack but everything else was on point
Victor Creed and Logan being brothers is actually a movie only thing, the man who worked for his family's plantation was named *Thomas Logan* which is where Logan comes from, his half brother by that man is Dog Logan (who in that story is an allusion to Sabretooth, which I guess makes it a lot more fitting that the movie just combined the characters).
But it was cannon in Sabertooth #0 back in the 90s that he was Wolverine's father or something
I guarantee Deadpool and Wolverine are gonna get them theaters packed 😂
Why don't any of these documentaries or recap videos ever specifically name-drop the one guy responsible for the delay in the Deadpool films and the creative decision to do what they did in Origins? Tom "Mort Goldman" Rothman supposedly hated the character and his one-liners so much that he kept vetoing the films and ordered that Deadpool have his mouth removed in Origins so that he couldn't joke about anything. F*ck Rothman.
It blows my mind that to my eye X-Men Origins: Wolverine is one of the better shot superhero movies. Bad CGI claws notwithstanding. Donald McAlpine did great work imo.

Wolverine was always cool on the playground during the cartoon reruns in the later 90s before the movie tho for sure!
Gambit was like number 2… not great in this film but the character is amazing!
4K is unaffordable. You have to pay 1000 Swedish crowns for five blank DVDs. This makes it hard for those of us who don't have internet at home. ☹

This is a great breakdown and a lot of fun to watch… probably lore so than the film.
How simple would it have been to make them the “10th unit” so “x” but not just because x is “cool”..

I think Wolverine should have been the Weapon X story. Shot in a fashion where it could be viewed like a silent movie. Told ,not unlike Frankenstein's monster. Amnesia caused by the trauma of the experiment.

Uncaged Edition is infinitely better than X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Could’ve been a better movie if it weren’t for Fox’s studio interference and Baraka Deadpool made things worse which led to Tom Rothman was axed as CEO of FOX in 2012.
That Deadpool was good. He had very little to do with any of the rest of the movies.

Deadpool is one of the only super hero movies I can tolerate. The others are just so repetitive and unmemorable they all blend into one.

Victor being brothers isn’t the “problems” with this movie… it was weird, but in the background of everyone of those movies makes no sense.. Kitty Pride anyone? Jubilee? Emma Frost?… there’s so many.

I will always hate that travesty of a crapshoot they call Logan. It is a lazy letdown of a movie. I never loved Brian Singers leftover crud-verse mostly because he hated the comix but loved the kids that read them so it was nice to see his awful Wolverine die by a stupid log.
X-Men 97 is a horrible show and Deadpool 3 is a horrible movie.
Deadpool was better when he could not speak.
