  • Recently it feels like everyone is talking about Poland!
    It’s safe to say that Poland is making some serious moves in the world. With a stable diverse economy. A new interesting aim in technology, and a serious investment in military power.
    Poland has gone from being a gray and poor place filled with war and invasion. And being pretty much erased from maps. To a nation that not only survived but thrived into a country others now look at with envy.
    But how did this happen? And most importantly, what do you even know about Poland? The time has come to explore the “ins and outs” of this nation. So this. Is Poland Explained!

    The explanation for the high death rate was ridiculous. On the chart you can clearly see it started to rise sharply around 2020. It's obvious it was the result of the pandemic. Many countries around the world reported a similar rise in deaths. Alcohol consumption in Poland is lower than in many other countries. According to 2023 statistics it is 19th on the list just above United Kingdom.

    • @SebJann
      @SebJann Před 6 měsíci +98

      Yeah, this was a very strange explanation that is probably based on your racist stereotipes from the communist era about polish people being alcohol abusers. Times have changed and now Polish people consume the highest amount of alcohol free drinks in the world. Also, the majority of Gen Z considers alcohol to be unnecessary, and just don't drink it. Same with smoking. But I guess you just haven't researched anything other than some random article from 1998, which is fine... Ignorance is a thing. @CountiesExplained

German unification was in fact the full annexation of one state by another with the simultaneous imposition of a different legal, economic and social system.

    Wow, just watched a bunch of movies about Poland recently, and this one? It's hands down the worst and most inaccurate. I mean, come on, the place names were totally butchered (a quick Google search could've fixed that, you dont have to be perfect but at least try, other people do that). And don't even get me started on all the errors and stereotypes - like the whole Vistula River thing (FYI, it's NOT shared with Ukraine and Belarus, at closest point it’s at least 200 km away from either).
    Oh, here's another f-up - the north of Poland is way less populated, even when you look at the whole country. Meanwhile, you missed mentioning Silesia, where a quarter of Poles live 🤦‍♂️
    And let's talk about the drinking and smoking stereotypes - Poland's right in the middle of the European pack. It's not like we're the champs or anything. Would you say the same about the Germans, the French, or the Spanish, because they have similar stats?
    Honestly, I couldn't stomach watching more of this nonsense. My advice? Fact-check and stick to the real deal, not just opinions.

    In 1939, the German and Soviet Russia invasions on Poland started WW II; this is a fact that should be loudly said to the public. 1 September, Germany and 17 September, Russia attacked Poland, not a single ally (ally on paper) lifted a finger back then. You know who actually was betrayed? Czechs, who were given up to Germans by France and Britain at Munich Conference. That's betrayal.

They declared war on Germany without doing NOTHING besides pathetic "bombing" with flyers, which of course were not any help and couldn't change anything (yeah, Hitler would withdraw just because of flyers). A nice move would be to hire a speaker from the country you make material of as he/she will be able to pronounce all the names of people and places correctly (and we know Polish can be so tricky!). Overall though nice material, we are happy that you have good opinion about us and our country :-) Regards from Poland

    • @JanuszKrysztofiak
      @JanuszKrysztofiak Před 6 měsíci +4

      @@kacperm6555 I can see several issues: 1) Polish companies would need to move up in the food chain, I can't see that happening to a meaningful extent ATM, 2) Poland is already hitting the demographics wall. That's why the official unemployment is low - boomers have mostly retired by that point and have been partially replaced with immigrants (who - especially non-permanent ones - serve as a buffer on the job market) - Polish streets (even in smaller cities) have become much more "multi-kulti" than they used to be only a decade ago (contrary to bullshit PiS is selling to its voters, they have opened Polish borders on unprecedented scale to migrants not just from the former USSR but East Asia, Africa or Latin America). However, immigration is only a quick and partial fix, in the long run (when it becomes permanent), it starts to generate growing challenges with integration. Ageing means a shortage of labour to fuel further growth, worsening dependency ratio and the political shift towards serving pensioners as they become an ever bigger share in the pool of voters. We have largely spent the demographic dividend inherited from the communist times (when the fertility rate was slightly above the replacement level), as one guy said "koniec żartów, zaczynają się schody". I see no improvement of it on the horizon: young adults struggle with buying/renting even small flats, for many only pricely private kindergartens are available, the poor state of public services in general forces people to buy services on the (expensive) market, leaving them with less (truly) disposable income.
