In 1936-, an attorney from
Fayetteville named Bernal Seamster and his friends built a two-room log building on a
low bluff about a half mile below Hemmed-in-Hollow. The men called it the Clubhouse
and used it for a weekend retreat. Sometimes they literally hunted and fished from the
cabin's front porch, which hung over the river. After a few years the men quit using the
cabin and soon afterward it burned. A chimney and stone piers still mark the site. 120
I love your channel. I grew up camping with my Mom and Dad. Then when I had children my two daughters and I went all the time. My husband and son did not like to go. Lolol. I can’t go any more. Battling lung cancer but doctors says looks like I’m winning. Hope you have a successful trip traveling and camping. God Bless.
Praying you get better Godspeed!
Praying for a speedy recovery. God bless
Thank you.
Prayers for God’s healing power 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
You got this Trish 💪🏾🌹
Every single video I post people comment telling me to kayak the Buffalo River. Your video right here just convinced me to plan a trip. Incredible! Thank you for taking us along on your adventure.
Dude we would love to float with you if your ever interested! We have watched a ton of your videos of rivers in Texas. If you ever want to meet up hit us up at coden5433@gmail.com
@@CodyandKellie that’s so awesome to hear! I’ve enjoyed following along on yalls adventures as well. Congrats on the nomadic adventure! You guys will crush it. I followed on Instagram and will get in touch whenever your trip out west ends.
We have kayak camped a lot of rivers but the upper Buffalo tops them all.
Gatewood I was about to send you this video on your ig 😆 I'm gonna kayak this river for the first time in a few weeks
@@DivineCruelty666 have a blast! You’ll probably get the whole river to yourself this time of year
There is another local outfitter in Ponca that I suggest using....Lost Valley Canoe and Lodging. They are the BEST!!!!
Thanks for that info. I'm planning a first Arkansas visit from northeast Texas, to kayak, hike and/or camp somewhere in those Ozarks.
We actually passed you guys in the gravel road at Ozark campground last Tuesday. I got so excited and kept telling my husband “that’s the you tube people I was telling you about 😂. We love the Buffalo and stop anytime our travels bring us close. Much love from Mississippi
In South Georgia those sandbars would have alligators. I love that River, it looks like a beautiful place.
There are some gorgeous stops along the River with short hikes up to falls....spectaculor
I floated this river when I was a teenager. That was over 30 years ago and I hope to do it again someday. Until then, thanks so much for allowing me to live vicariously through you.
Canoed this river with my father and the Ozark Trail Association back in 2009. Great Experience and thanks Dad!
Paddled it my first time in 1975. Knew and was friends with a few who fought to save it. They were visionaries of their day.
Got that easy feel'en.....looks like a place I can take my dog with me.
Beautiful Buffalo River, more precious than silver and Gold, Arkansas gift to the Nation, America s gift to the world....Jimmy Driftwood!
I Hope that some younger people still remember the one and only Jimmy Driftwood! He played an important Role making the Buffalo River Region a National Forest, some say that without him there would be none.I was invited by Cleda and Jimmy Driftwood twice and spent months with them. Jimmy and I made some boat tours.Simply unique! Greetings from Germany. I traveled several States in the US, Arkansas would be the one.
t him
Man pre made breakfast burritos wrapped in aluminum foil! Just throw them in a fire for a couple mins. Steaks pre seasoned a great supper with a baked potatoe over a fire. Hotdogs and sandwiches for snacks
You guys really know how to showcase the best of Arkansas! This amazing area is like a paradise with so many hidden gems. Thanks for letting us experience it with your excellent filming, editing, music choices, etc. Now, in addition to the best of Arkansas, you guys will be bringing us the best of wherever else you roam. Best wishes; you got this!
yes they do show Arkansas very nicely . been oven 30 years down there. but only on work driving truck to le dorado and little rock and batesville and jonesboro.
I love that first camp spot and that waterfall that was hidden in the trees. Hell, I could live there...
Actually the Jacks Fork River and Current River in Missouri were the first Rivers to be designated a National Park in '64 (finalized in '71, so just eeking out the Buffalo). Same situation, nearly dammed it. I wanna say the Eleven Point is similar.
They're very similar to the Buffalo just smaller in scale and they mainly are gravel and chert riverbeds. I'd highly recommend floating either.. Jacks Fork has been a favorite of mine and I've been going over 40 years.
Waking up in the Ozarks, with a crystal clear stream, rolling forested hills, the fog.... There is noting like it.
Either way- awesome video, gorgeous river, great content, keep up the good work. Love your videos!
@@jfc1432 I did some searches and see ‘71 for current & jacks fork, Buffalo is ‘72.
Definitely check it out, it’s amazing. The water is so clear. Bring masks and snorkels.
For a family, I like the Alley Springs camp ground on the Jacks Fork. It is very well maintained, free hot showers, park ranger activities for kids, and an amazing little swimming hole with a bluff.
Edit- found what you meant with “river” vs “river system” . Seems a bit arbitrary since the system is focused on the rivers but I see what you’re saying
@@jfc1432 yeah, curious to know for sure.
If you go, avoid late July and early august. Sometimes the moss can get annoying above Alley Springs.
Be sure to check out alley springs, Blue Springs (on the Current), Rocky Falls, Echo Bluff, the wild horses (try Shawnee area right before dusk). And seriously bring mask and snorkels, half of the amazing sights are under water. Enjoy you’re trip!
Buffalo was first to be designated a National River, not National Park
Guys the intro visuals were amazing! The music was so perfect it elevated the mood of my entire town. We all looked up and started bopping our heads like a bad commercial!
Bueno!
We used to do the Buffalo way back in the 80's ... just below Steel Creek... David and his dog was our shuttle, not sure if he's still runnin' that section. I loved the sign on the way to the launch site, a pretty steep down grade... the sign said, "No trailers or busses." You guessed it, we were in a bus, with a trailer full of canoes in tow. But he did let the dog out at the top, so if anything went wrong, the dog would make it. :)
Takes me back to my twenties when my husband and I floated the Eleven Point, Jack's Fork and the White River in a little raft. That was the beginning of my love for camping.
The Buffalo River is just gorgeous. Did a day trip with my wife about 10 years ago. Was 65, she was 61. No problems!!
BRILLIANT! If I were to do it all over again.. I would adventure first, while young and work when I got older!
Noted! We should enjoy our youth while we have it! Society has us conditioned to see everything backwards.
I know this is an 'older' video, but I love the Buffalo. I drive down from Kansas City to Ozark at least once or twice a year. Single, 63, but I leave my camping gear in my truck so all I have to do is pack up water, perishable food and a cooler. I love the peace and quiet. I spend time in Ponca too. I much prefer the upper Buffalo rather than Buffalo Point. Leaving tomorrow to get there and relax for Memorial Day. I don't mind the crowd because watching the kids (and some adults) jumping off the bluffs is always fun. I usually hang out a bit at Ponca Landing swimming in the deeper water by the low bridge.
I in joyed. It brought back memories from when I was a kid. Yes I live in Texas. But my parents & I floated down the Buffalo River. I don't remember where we put in. But I do remember taking out at the White River. I also remember the river being way way way out of it's banks. We spent a week floating down the Buffalo River.
I love Buffalo River! Beautiful place. Clean, clear, and cold water.
I love Buffalo River. Some days floating will be awesome!
Thanks for the video! Took me back to Boy Scout trips we did in the 90’s. I’ve been trying to plan a trip to get back for years. This is motivation!
Wow. Arkansas is beautiful!!
Great video, music and scenery is outstanding, simple but beautiful! Now hubby and I want to go camping in the Ozarks, cause it's too hot to go camping in Florida. Keeping it going, I waiting for this video to come on. We are hooked. Thank you and Good luck with your new camping fulltime lifestyle.
Thanks for bringing us along!
That's a beautiful place maybe some day I will get there
Arkansas is just so beautiful
Oh my Lord you are in my neck of the woods. I grew up on that River I've done canoe races and worked on it. Dear memories that I hold very close to my heart come from that River
Sweet memories of a time when life was so much more simple...Love this place, and I dream of returning someday....Thank you to the creators for sharing this beauty....
What a nice way to spend your time. I like Mark's vattoos
Love Buffalo river and white river.
Human gear duo is the best utensil for backpacking for sure baby! Love mine
I grew up real close to the river. Floated it many times. Now my daughter takes her family down the river all the time. Surprised I haven't seen 'em floating by in the background!
Kayaked the buffalo river multiple times throughout my childhood. Thought it looked familiar. Miss the ozarks.
Beautiful!! I love, love your vlogs! And thanks for hooking me up with TRAILTOPIA!! Can't wait to try some!! 😊😋
I grew up on this river and have floated it my whole life. Buffalo river is home.
That's one of the prettiest places y'all have been.
You got some great shots!!
It’s really been cooling off here in the Ozarks these past couple of weeks. Great explanation weather!
My favorite stomping grounds.
My cousin and I almost went tipped the canoe over but our ice chest actually saved us! Buffalo River was definitely enjoyable for this North Texan!
You guys have the best outdoor vlog and videos 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
On my canoe trips,, long distance,, I normally start the day with 5 or 6 liters of water or Gatoraid down by my feet. I have usually consumed all of that by noon or shortly after. Between 1 and 2 gallons of water per day. Out in the SW US that can be as much as 3 gallons per day, or more (115F this week?) 2 cups per minute,, I am gonna be there for a long time.
Y’all just get better and better!! Go Kelly!!!! She’s goes with the flow until we to deep in the woods!! Snakes! I felt her pain! The underwater video was outstanding!!!! Seeing you guys not living by time must feel so free! Love y’all’s adventurous souls✨✨
Wow, what an amazing river and trip.
Another great vid ......keep them coming.....after a bad day .....your vids keep me on the water where I can't wait to get 😁
I cant think of anywhere in the world that is more beautiful than where you were on this river.
Cody, thanks for showing his cot! This will work great for my kayaking trips! Got one now. Thank you!!
Awesome guys! Great spot!
Congrats on your new adventures coming up. Kelly and Cody - thank you sharing - you make your viewers feel like family :)
Thank you for yet another wonderful camping experience. I was so at peace experiencing your experience! You do a phenomenal job with the filming - from So many angles! As I mentioned before, you inspired me to start tent camping in my 60’s! Thank you for that, and good luck on your new adventure in life!
Way to go Roland! They also inspired us 50 & 65 to go back to camping.. Bought an RV a few years ago and it just wasn't worth the work and the money.. Bought tent and a bunch of supplies for comfort and now camping!
Have you'll noticed what beautiful skin Cody has? His face is flawless. I'm so jealous.😊😊
Tell your friend Mark he can take me kayak camping anytime ☺️
Will do
It sure does look like a giant slide lol
That spot was exceptional. Then again that whole river is gorgeous scenery.
Very peaceful!!!!!!
I live in Arkansas and our family floats this river 2-3 times every summer, it really is this fabulous.
Yes its my backyard so happy were i live .
A couple of comments:
1. Your videos are a terrific intro into life in AR. As a person who lives in the North-east, I've not sen any video of the woods in that part of the country. Thank you for changing that for many of us. Your videos have gotten consistently better and what I really like is how chill you guys are. Some videos give me anxiety because the creators are clearly stressing about trying to entertain viewers. #whoneedsthat
2. Your decision to go full-time must count as the least surprising development ever! :-) We are weekend warriors who have been RVing for the last 4 years averaging 50-60 nights a year. You guys will rock it and that NOBO trailer is perfect for you. I've not seen a similar floor plan so you guys hit the jackpot in terms of finding the needle in the haystack.
3. This video is one that makes me _really_ miss canoe camping. I was an avid paddler before we had kids. I'm so glad you guys are living the dream!
Good luck on your preparations for going full-time!
Thank you for the kind words! God bless
Sooo Niiiice ty for sharing.
So we're camping and watching the show and that's awesome to. Thanks a bunch.
it's so pretty! That cot is so cool.
I have floated the Buffalo several times before but not camped yet. That is on my bucket list. I have been gathering things here and there to get ready. Motorcycle camping is on my bucket list too. We've been to Ouachita Lake once but in a camper, but we did have our kayaks.
Lovin' it. So serene...
..
I love the buffalo! Every year my brother-in-laws and I camp just upriver on the jumping bluff. It is such a beautiful river.
I love that type of filter. I use it while bike packing and hiking.
Great videography and music. What a beautiful place!
It´s so beautiful and so peaceful there. I wish we had such amazing nature in my country. US an New Zealand has the most beautiful nature in the world.
Thank you for taking me on your rafting trip, that was nice. The food looked interesting, I’ll need to try it. What coffee do you like to bring?
Espresso French pressed
The Buffalo River between Ponca and Pruitt Arkansas is awesome ! One of my favorite places to go ! There is a boulder at one point called Grey Rock....just before it on the left up in the cliff is a cave that is cool to check out.
Thanks for the fun. I really enjoyed the underwater shots. Thanks for sharing.
I just discovered y'alls channel. My wife and I recently moved to Arkansas, so it is great to find some local outdoor adventure content. You proivde some great content to motivate me toget out there and start exploring this beautiful state! Keep doing what your doing it's awesome.

Ohh great video..bear cave hollow.. I'm definitely going ❤️
Just did this last month. Had friends launch at Steel Creek. We met them at Erbie and took out Hasty. Fun trip. Beautiful river
I love the buffalo river, I did bakers ford to Gilbert a few weeks ago. Thanks to you guys I've solo camped in Arkansas 3 times since March 😊
Just floated Ponca to Kyle’s May 27. Water was a little higher but y’all hit it perfect for camping.
As a tent camper and hiker I love this. Thanks for documenting beautiful places with beautiful videos. You guys will do great on this next phase of your lives. So happy for you! And Cody, I really enjoy your history lessons.
Just Wow~~ What an epic trip! What EPIC footage AND EPIC videography! I definately want to go there and do that! I've never stepped foot in Arkansas. Drove through it a couple times to another destination - it's really beautiful. Loved your trip!
Great video, music and scenery is outstanding, simple but beautiful!
That is by far my favorite video. Amazing your. Is that a snappy turtle?
Well done with the underwater tow behind shots!!! Awesome!
Finally people making a video about this gem! I used to camp in Ponca, AR all the time when I lived in Fayetteville. Make a video of Lost Valley one of the last old growth forests in Arkansas.
I am so excited for you two. Enjoy this next chapter in your lives. Look forward to future videos
What a beautiful paddle! Thanks for sharing.
What a great looking trip guys!!!!
Loved this video! Beautiful river! Now I’m ready for some out west videos. 👍
When I was a kid we did not have Kayaks. We floated down that river in metal canoes. It was a challenge to maneuver it down that river
That river is on my bucket list!
Looks like a great float. Makes me want a Kayak.
I'm blessed to live here. I go every weekend it's warm to fish. The same exact section of river lol. My house is 5 minutesaway just up the mountain. I was blessed to find this place a few years ago, it's a hidden Secret. If you guys come back check out Whitaker point, and Lost Valley which is right beside where this was. Lost Valley has an underground waterfall inside of a cave that you have to get on your hands and knees for about 30 ft before it opens up with an amazing waterfall room. It's awesome up here
Majestic river no doubt awesome vid guys and gals! Happy Trails 😎
Now I'm in love with Arkansas! Who knew?!
Wow that you guys that was amazing. Such beautiful and mystical place. 🥀
Awesome!
How clear and gorgeous!!!
Absolutely beautiful! Loved the waterfalls!
And another great video!
The place looks great been on the buffalo river years ago its great. And your channel is great.
