    My favorite B vitamin with Niacin (B3) - www.glutenfreesociety.org/sho...
Niacin, also known as vitamin B3, was first isolated and identified as a treatment for a condition known as pellagra, which primarily causes inflammation of the skin (dermatitis), diarrhea, and dementia. Often times referred to as the three D’s of pellagra, if left untreated, niacin deficiency can lead to a 4th…death.
Since then, niacin has been used to treat and prevent a wide range of abnormalities and diseases. So let’s take a closer look at the roles niacin plays in your body to help explain why it’s essential for optimal health. We’ll also discuss how gluten can cause a niacin deficiency as well as what foods to eat to increase your niacin intake.
    - What is Niacin? (00:47)
    - Do you recommend a Niacin flush? (02:30)
    - Key Roles of Vitamin B3 (04:00)
    - Protects and Repairs DNA (05:45)
    - Helps stimulate immune cells (08:35)
    - The 4 D's of Pellagra (09:15)
    - Helps Maintain Cholesterol Levels (13:45)
    - Stimulates growth hormone secretion (16:45)
    - Develops and Protects Nervous System (18:15)
    - What are some pre-pellagra symptoms? (20:30)
    - Factors that can create B3 deficiency (27:50)
    - Best Gluten and Grain Free sources of Niacin (35:30)

I get a flush at 100 mg. Niacin has cured my depression. I take it three times a day and I get the flush in the morning. I don’t get a flush on a full stomach. I had depression my whole life and spent years o medication. I got off all meds and stuck to a low carb diet. I learned about niacin about a year ago. After two weeks, I noticed myself smiling and humming.

Wow, so happy for you. I've read a book called "Niacin: The Real Story" by Dr. Andrew Saul and it seems that he too suggests that b3 deficiency causes depression and mental disorders. The book even clearly states "It appears that a good deal of modern psychiatry depends on patients suffering from unidentified pellagra for its bread and butter". So you might've had a case of subclinical pellagra.

      Hello Dr. osborne,
I just started taking a 300 mg and after taking it with just once I cut the pill in half and even at half the dose the flush is so strong it is almost too much. I go red all over my arms, necks, face, and it is very hot and tingling and lasts for a long time. Because the flush is so intense could 9:29 it be that I have a real deficiency of this B vitamin??
Thank you for this lecture on Niacin. I also have mild cognitive decline. I have Celiac disease as well.

There is some interesting info online about a young wrestler in Thailand who used it for drug resistant staph. I read that large amount of niacin can be used to get rid of a drug resistant staph infection, but they caution that it needs to be done in a hospital setting so the patient can be monitored. I'm just repeating what I read, I'm not a medical person.

Niacin increases blood glucose so I doubt it's good to take if you have any sort of infection, because normally infections and inflammation loves blood glucose.

Thank you, Dr. Osborne, for this video on niacin. I'm a big fan of Abram Hoffer, who I heard about from Andrew Saul's vitamin videos. I bought his book, Niacin, The Real Story, and learned that niacin is best for cholesterol. In spite of my cardiologist's recommendation for statins for lipid panels, I started taking 3 g. a day of no flush inositol hexanicotinate. I got a beautiful lipid panel - ch-234, hdl-94, ldl-124, and trigl-66. And for depression, I take 500 mg. of niacinamide which shortly lifts my mood. I'm a fan.

See videos on Vitamin D3. At 5000 iu daily, it eliminates depression. If you are in higher latitudes you are not getting enough Sunlight. It takes two months to build up enough D3 in your body to begin the anti depression service. But you have to take Vitamin K2 m7 and magnesium with it-not necessarily at the same time. I take D3 and magnesium malate in the morning and 200mg K2 at lunch or dinner. If you weigh more or less than 180 lbs you can take more or less than 5,000 iu.
The videos explain it all. It simply eliminates depression, and your arteries will have less plaque!

So, this time i just take a 100mg pill with a meal.
Flush is tiny. I am going to avoid 500mg dosage.
If you are trying to lower your blood pressure, look at Nattokinase. If you want to clear your arteries, Use Vitamin K2 m7 and Vitamin D3.
If you want to clean debris from your blood and arteries, use Serrapeptase for a limited time-like 3 weeks.
Look up videos on all these.

Some people get it with a dose as low as 50mg, others can take 4 or 5 grams without flushing. So you are best trying 50mg then adding 50mgs the next time and keep doing that till you work up to larger doses.
I usually get it with 200mgs on an empty stomach after drinking coffee. However, I can take triple that without flushing if I take them after a big meal.
Just be careful as many people really don't like it. I do kinda like it but even I didn't like it when I took too much. It was too strong a reaction and I felt uncomfortable.
It really does feel like you have sunburn and it can be very itchy especially on your back and chest and shoulders.

By the way, there's an excellent book by Dr. Sandra Kaufmann: The Kaufmann Protocol: Why we age and how to stop it. It's a must read for people looking to increase their healthspan.

I'm taking Niacinamide 500mg x2 a day. But when I first tried niacin, I gulped 500mg of straight niacin! Yea....I flushed, bigtime.

Hello doc Osborn, what you think about B complex vitamins in the intramuscular application? I received that twice in my life (12 injections injected every secon day). My family doctor recomended me to have it once or twive in the year.
