I kind of hope that mullings becomes the bell cow and edwards gets utilized more in the passing game. A couple hears ago the coaching staff was talking about hed be WR1 if he was a receiver

Mullings was the more consistent guy last year. If Donovan can begin breaking arm tackles he COULD be the best but I have to see it first.

If you look at Michigan Football's all time passing yardage leaders by season, I think it is pretty ambitious to think Orji is going to come in and easily throw for 2500+ passing yards.
If he did so, it would literally put him in the Top 10 All Time in Single Season Passing Yards.
Yes, I know offenses are different over eras, but these numbers include recent QBs.
But for perspective let's do an exercise. Let's say Orji throws for 2,600 yards, barely above JJ's 12 game mark. If he did that he that mark would be more yardage than 3 of Chad Henne's 4 seasons. That would be more yards than Denard ever threw in a single season. That would be more than Shea Patterson threw in his first season. It would be more than Cade McNamara threw his first season. It would be more single season yardage than any QB that played in the 1990s, except when Brady threw 2636 in 1998, barely crossing the 2600 threshold.
So "Could" Alex Orji throw for over 2600 yards? I mean, it's possible. I just think if anyone expects him to and thinks it'll be relatively easy, is betting against a ton of data that says otherwise.
This is especially the case when many of those modern QBs had a more talented WR corps and a more stable O Line situation. Not to mention every QB I mentioned outside of maybe Denard was viewed as a more accurate QB than Orji.
If Orji does start, I'll be rooting for him to destroy that threshold. However, I think expecting a QB with accuracy issues, a new OL and an inexperienced WR corps to have one of the 10 best seasons (yardage wise) that a Michigan QB has ever had is expecting far too much.

@@human395 I hope if Orji starts he as as good of a season as the video thinks he'll easily have. I just think it's incredibly optimistic to assume Orji is going to come in and have one of the ten best seasons a Michigan QB has ever had. Way too many questions for that to be likely.
Not to mention Michigan's style of play will limit Orji's (or whoever is QB) chances to have one of the ten best seasons in Michigan history.

I’m sorry I don’t agree with Orgi being around the 60th for ypg for someone who hasn’t thrown a pass in a game

We'll lose to Texas if he starts. I'm hoping Tuttle or Warren do, and Orji comes in for several series.

BS! Orji threw a pass in a game two years ago. He will smash people and can throw a good pass to a TE.

Henderson from OSU is legit. He tore our best defenders apart last year a few times. He's deffinetly a threat same with the back up the picked up in portal. They RB room is scary and that's just facts

Mullings is ready and we have some young studs with tip end speed and size. Just work as a team and trust the process. Well be good. Jist hope Moore implements his own identity which he kind of has on offense. Defensively wer in good hands. I have faith for this year we can make some serious noise if we stay healthy

I really think that Tuttle would be a perfect fit for the team. Safe, knows the offense. Heavy run, with play action to the TE’s. But, I also don’t know crap😛😅

Tuttle could be a game manager, IMHO, in case of the starter QB's injury. He was a back-up at Utah, and Indiana, and is now in his 7th year. However, he was a back-up to superlative QBs in his prior teams. His running , and passing, skills are well above average. Great personality and leader in the QB room. If Jaden doesn't RS, I hope to see J Tut on the field soon. Although I think Davis Warren and AO are competing for the job, J Tut could be equal competition.

The fact Orji is as much of a running threat as he is will allow our HBs to run even better as the defense is accounting for a second threat in the running game. Orji behind the center is essentially a wildcat.

Replacing JJ is not just production. D fence had to respect JJs passing. That opens the run . JJ was unreal on 3rd down passing for first downs. Despite being lackluster in stats he was a 1st round draft pick

Such profound cluelessness. Mullings gained more yards after contact than Edwards did in total. The only RB who's more overrated than Henderson is Edwards.

@@BlairKrueger-ry3lk that’s definitely true, but his carries tended to be boom or bust. Michigan’s offense is predicated on consistent short to medium gains which is what Corum gave us. In that context, Mullings may be the better bell cow unless Edwards improves his consistency
