What if Nintendo decided that backward compatibility will be cut in a later revision or the generation after that. It happened with gba compatibility for the DSi and 3DS, GCN compatibility for Wii Mini and Wii U…
@@QnjtGWonQNqVsbYyzjx4 my personal view is this… With all the attacks on emulation and such Nintendo has been up to and if that is their continued goal then they had better from switch onwards always implement backwards compatibility going forward otherwise I will find myself growing irritated with Nintendo. If you’re attacking emulation that’s fine but you’d better make up for it by having full backwards compatibility from now on Nintendo!
Backwards compatibility is a must and I hope to see games like Tears of the Kingdom getting updates for 60fps.
I think the game will unfortunately trapped in a switch sandbox, which prevent Homebrew/piracy and the game only run in original performance and resolution. I think PS5/Xbox series X gets these enhanced game because no developer are willing to make their game not available for PS4/Xbox one at the launch time.
Since the switch is so successful, backwards compatibility is a must for the switch 2. It would be unwise to leave millions of switch users just like that.
Backwards compatibility is such a great way to incentivize people who didn't buy a switch to buy the switch 2. Two consoles for the price of one.
I am hoping it is as well since I am getting A Switch 2 and want to carry over my game from 1 to 2 until the RPGS start to arrive. Launch games usually suck as a rule and the Original Switch didnt have much at Launch until I am setsuna came
Carrying over your game progress to Switch 2 will keep the excitement alive until the RPGs roll in. And you're right, launch games can be hit or miss, but there's always something to look forward to.
I've already said why backwards compatibility is for the best. I can't deny that there are benefits to selling a new version on the new system, but if possible, it's best to allow the existing version to carry over. Updating a few titles can provide a short-term surge in sales, but to have to update the entire selection might be seen as a burden and an unnecessary expense, which could see hidden gems being left behind.
Even without updating the games, just for having the old titles running on a more powerful hardware could (and should be) enough to solve performance issues and give a new life to the games.
@@TwilightWolf032I think it’s the approach Nintendo next console will take, leave the game as is but still playable for the new console. I think it will trap in a sandbox so no advantage playing on a newer system besides able to get rid of your old console.
I think people would rather keep the switch for their library instead of paying full price port since I doubt many upgrade can be done, especially the causal gamers.

I think unless it’s a major change, like from wiiu to switch, it will be backwards compatible. We’ve seen in the past they do support their older consoles and games for a long while.
If the switch 2 doesn't have backwards compatibility I will have to think twice before buying it.
Nintendo knows that they have the best system out there and know they’re not going to drop the ball even though they have been known to do that in the past, but I don’t think this is one of the times if they would do that
It's true that Nintendo has had some missteps in the past, so it's hard to be completely confident. Let's hope they maintain their quality this time around, though there's always a hint of uncertainty.
I have a friend who said that she doesn’t want to pay for the next switch generation. She feels that Nintendo is going to make the next switch a very high price to pay. I can understand her concerns. She’s very concerned on whether or not the games will be backwards compatible and not only that she pays for the online membership for her son.
Really hope for backwards compatibility. Theres still so many titles I haven’t been able to play yet.
Backwards compatibility is absolutely essential for Switch 2 and I never was on the trains of thought that said it wouldn’t happen, regarding TTYD running at 30fps, it’s not an issue, it’s clear that the graphics engine they’re using is the same as in the origami King which is a resource intensive engine which is taxing the Switch hardware which is extremely old technology now but it doesn’t bother me like some others but for me as long as a game is smooth i don’t care if the game is running at 30 or 60fps.
I was wondering if they would offer a unit without a screen at a reduced price? Because I only use it with a tv. Food for thought.
Don't want 4K on Prime 4. Doesn't need it. If you're selling point of your game is 4K, that's a red flag that it has nothing going for it.
Unfortunately the 32 inch flatscreen TV I have does not support 4K. So I will be missing out on a lot of the new switch elements that Nintendo will be providing. So we’ll just have to see what Nintendo decides.

When considering the amount of systems sold, Nintendo could classify the Switch 2 in the same way they did the Game Boy Color. All Switch 2 sales could be grouped with the original Switch sales.
If Nintendo is going backward with the Nintendo Switch 2, these are things what I hope to see from it: A music in the Switch Home Menu and éShop, the Dual Screens and pencil like on the DS and 3DS, it's name would be New Nintendo Switch XL, okay it will be Nintendo Switch 2 or Super Nintendo Switch. Can't wait i'm so excited for the New Nintendo Console! 😆❤️🔥

It's like you're trying to power a spaceship with a hamster wheel. We're in 2024, not the era of pixelated dinosaurs! Who in their right mind wants to game in 480p when the rest of the world is pushing 8K? And let's not even talk about the processing power - my grandma's flip phone has more horsepower! Do you expect us to play Mario Kart while squinting at a screen that looks like it's been dipped in Vaseline? Get it together, Nintendo, or prepare to watch your fanbase vanish faster than you can say 'Game Over'. It's time to join the 21st century or be left in the dust of gaming history!

I have been reading that it will have an 8 inch screen and if it does, then I don't want it. Where is the portability in that? I sold my OG Switch to get the Lite and it's much better for me to take it with me when going to work. I really do hope it doesn't have an 8 inch screen
Mario Wonder had a lot of potential but man, what a dud of a game. It was like they stopped halfway through development and just released it.
I thought it was very overrated. A solid platformer, but it doesn't compare to SMB 3 or SMW

Well, if it's NOT compatible, I'm not buying it. Simple as that. I didn't just drop $250 on a LImited Run Games collector's edition of a game series for Switch only to just HOPE my Switch will function long enough to enjoy it. If it IS backwards compatible, I'm 100% getting it, full stop. Ball's in your court, Nintendo, and I might just be one person but I GUARANTEE you I'm not alone and NOT being backwards compatible can only hurt sales. NOW, that SAID...let's realistically ask a question here: how many Nintendo consoles HAVE been backwards compatible with previous cartridges or discs? One? Was 3DS? I think GBA was, but as far as home consoles go, NONE of them were. So, I'm not putting all my ducks in that basket or whatever the saying is.

Nintendo in the 90s: we made a better gameboy, yes it can play OG cartridges. We made a super nintendo, yes it can play NES with an adaptor.
Nintendo 2000s: we made the gba it can play your old games and heres new ones! We also have N64, no backwards compatability.
Nintendo 2010s: we made nintendo DS, no backwards compatability. We made gamecube and a wii, no backwards compatability on the former bht the wii can play gamecube games.

1) nobody plays games in 8k
2) this is a handheld they cant manage to achive 4k 120fps, hell even the ps5 and xbox upscale their games because they cant run at native 4k
