60,000lb X-RAY Truck Almost Flips Over!

- 60,000lb X-RAY Truck Almost Flips Over! What an absolute close call this recovery was. Had this unit really gone over, it would have been one of our hardest just due to the weight and structure of this intricate truck. The outer body is mainly fiberglass, with no lifting points unlike a container. The driver caught a break here and the semi prevent it from fully going over.
This job was done by Dave in the 40ton rotator and Alex in Big Flipper, our 75ton rotator. Of course, they were joined by Mr. YEAH I KNOW himself aka Spider aka Hector. The job came with a ton of risk, but Alex and Dave kept it very cool and worked this job to perfection.
Dave's rotator kept the truck stabilized while also winching the trailer over, and Alex used the might of Big Flipper to lift the entire rear in the air and swing it all the way over to the guardrail. This method solves two problems: 1) keeping the truck from going over during the winch and 2) getting the truck to a more stable position so he can continue forward while making the turn.
I know the calm and cool behavior make this look easy, but trust me when I say this was a very difficult job done incredibly fast. What did you guys think And if you REALLY want to support your favorite tow channel, become a member here: / @pepestowingservice

I wanna drive the X ray truck! 😃
Когда водитель трака олень ничего не спасет даже если он не видит что у него рога проросли
😊
Lowboy job opening now
Those X-Ray trucks are very expensive, multi-million dollar units. Good job guys.
One of the rare times the rescued vehicle is more expensive than Big Flipper...
"Wassup Spider!" 😂😂😂 I swear that he's got a smoke goin' in every video😂
Right 😂 like a comedy movie where every scene it's just chilling in his mouth
Good on him ..cool dude ..
I don't know what's more impressive the fact that the truck didn't fall off in the first place or the fact that it's at such an angle that almost any vehicle would fall off at
From looks of tire tracks, driver failed to make a very wide approach to stay on pavement, rear trailer tires are way ,way into dirt off curve, soil appears wet and mushy, why whole train didn’t tip is a mystery & a miracle. Driver didn’t allow for extra length to keep rig on pavement . Hopefully, this recovery is successful.
@trepanier01 the vehicle being transported was chained down to the trailer otherwise it would have rolled over definately.
Don't know the tail weight of the X-ray truck, but I would have loaded it facing backwards to save extending the deck of the trailer gotta do what ya gotta do, and shout out to the chain manufacturer
Excellent chains and tie downs, load stayed with the trailer
Alex and Dave: Masters of their Craft.
Like my old boss used to say,
Everybody F's up, some get out on there own, others need a hand !!
Or in this case, a couple rotators
but sometimes its just too much like this
You guys never cease to amaze me. Good job Alex and Dave.
This is one of my favorite recoveries given the equipment/vehicles used for the recovery, the special rigging required, the size of the equipment recovered and of course, a cameo by Spider. Great job
Thank you! To the lay person it seems like a regular recovery but people can't really grasp how much of a nightmare this job really was, made to look easy because everyone is so calm and professional
Big Flipper is so impressive!
I'm glad it was you figuring out that rigging and not me. 👍
Just 3 words for Dave and Alex....PROFESSIONAL, PROFESSIONAL, PROFESSIONAL. Excellent job .
Every time Alex or Josh draws a complex recovery, like this one, it's like a rigging clinic. You watch, you see things that are cool, entertaining, but you also learn. I do, anyhow. I really admire & respect their knowledge and a helluva work ethic. Very courteous and patient, too. Two thumbs up! 👍👍
That looks like a military X-Ray for loaded trucks and Containers. Drive in and get checked out. Went through them when delivering to Military Bases.
Rear box swings Left or right, truck moves back and forth to scan trailers or containers. Driver had to leave area to avoid over exposure to X-Rays.
The boom swings off the side of the main truck making a bridge so the trucks and trailers can drive thru and be scanned for explosive materials.
Thanks for that explanation, I was like, mobile ray machines are used on people, what's this boom all about?
The ports use them too.. Since it’s the 405 freeway, I’m sure that’s where it’s going or coming from.
"Skill" is one way to make tough things look easy. You guys are masters.
Two of the best in the business. Alex makes a good captain.
I love the relationship these guy's have with 'Law Enforcement' total mutual respect! Good job guy's ..Also why wouldn't a qualified driver like that not stay out wide enough to cut the curve, beats me man!
Give respect to earn respect. My dad established that many ages ago. Most of the time when we show up they never even get out of their cars because they know Pepe's has it under control and will open up lanes soon.
yeah-usually those heavy haul guys are the best--they are always extra careful to get the big money!!
From the look of it no proper route planning he’s longer than the exit ramp even though he swung out wide
@@Los629 route is usually specified by the required oversize permit so not much the driver can do about it, listen to him at 42:16
@@hondaman08 i made the comment before listening to the whole video. My bad. I would think the route planner would have knowledge of that not send the driver that way.
This is a Mobile Vehicle Examination and X-Ray machine owned by the DHS- Customs and Border Protection Agency. They are used at the ports of LA/LB to examine containers at roadside inspection points. As Alex mentioned, it has a large telescoping boom which swings at an upside-down L shape from the passenger side at a 90° angle that allows semi-trucks to pass under and thru it. The section that says “HCV Mobile” is the onboard office with all the computers and monitoring equipment.
Thanks, i thought it was a human x ray truck but the boom had me stumped..
Had to google the truck being transported.. From the title X-Ray, I was thinking mobile medical not cargo. Then the mention of the Boom, I'm like huh? Actually a very interesting piece of kit.
It's for X-raying very large people.🤣
@@tiredoldmechanic1791 With very large appendages.🤣
What a pleasure to watch you guys at work. What a team of Pro's. Thank you.
Guess he won't use that off ramp again 🙄
Glad somebody's there to help ❤
That off ramp is a huge area for these type of jobs. We made the cover of American Towman on a job a few years back in this same spot for a different job.
@@PepesTowingService Just found it, April 2019 edition, Big Flipper and Dave right there on the cover!
Great job again. You guys continue to do amazing work in a professional manner.
At least we can say the guy can do a pretty sweet tie down job.
Great job as always.❤❤
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaamazing, as usual, love those drone shots. Great job Alex (Mr. Cool), Dave and Hector. Thanks, Josh!✌
Amazing incredible, patient, longsuffering --- successful recovery! Great Job!
That shit was amazing, well played, millions of dollars of equipment on that ramp and all safe. Alex and Dave did great!!
Very well assessed and executed. Great there Alex and Dave.

That is a gorgeous commercial carrier x ray unit and these days there aren't enough of them operating. Another Excellent Job Well Done Alex and Dave + Spider

Alex + Dave, a very impressive save! It sure looked like a goner when you guys started! Congrats!
Alex once again an awesome job you and Dave worked well together
The hell was the driver thinking
Alex and Super Dave to the rescue, another flawless rescue
Another brilliant video, the rescue was Another example of the importance of rigging .
You guys are always impressive and so professional, great job all . 👍👍
Great job, spot on recovery! Be safe!!
That was an awesome recovery there...very well executed....Alex your the man lol....stay safe and see you on the next one
Awesome job guys, amazed how it was still upright when you got there.
Good job guys!! Everybody went home at the end of the day! You saved a critical peace of medical equipment and may have saved someone a good job!!
Hope you don't have a run on jobs like this. Like the telehandlers. The ice plants are like hitting snot.😅 . Well done Alex. The drone shots were fabulous 👌
Ah right! Pepe's on the job--another neat video....
And we got the Spider and Smooth Dave.....
Going to be allright now...situation under control-
good work guys, a perfect job, maybe steered axles on the trailer are the solution for this type of transport as we have had in Europe for a number of years
Good job fellas, keep up the great work.
Damn, I'd be shitting bricks standing up there leaning that way. 😬
That was a fun lift. Looked for sure like it wanted to roll over into the ditch. Nice save. Good teamwork by Pepe's Towing.
Driver cut that just like if he was driving a Prius
Got a vid showing the truck for sale but need to see the rest of them too!! That black with red is a pretty unit! Great job with the fragile expensive load, well done video
it's about to go. *walks around side about to go* i'm glad you know what you are doing pepe - you would have had to have dragged me round there! 😬😃😄
I used to watch an other towing company but he hired a bunch of kids tells them all what to do. You guys rock the towing world. Good job
Great recovery and great job
Your trucks and skills are amazing.
Cool drone footage too, it gives it so much more
Good Job Josh !
Great shots with the drone.....dude yall killin it!!
Well, it looks like the new guy has to climb on the truck, just kidding. Amazing job, shows the benefit of over rigging. This could have gone so wrong. Great job Alex and Dave. I missed Josh's comments lately.
Very nice well done guys keep up the great work
Love your video
Fabulous ..such smooth operators ...beautiful trucks ..
thank you for watching
Magnificent! Alex, you are incredibly brave to even go near that truck, let alone climb all over it! I certainly couldn't 😳👍
HELP, I have an addiction to this channel!
Excellent job !!!
The very BEST, WOW!!
Another awesome job. This one was trickier than it looked. Pulled it off with no sweat the Pepe's way.
Looking good nice work u all 👍👍👍👍👍😊
Pepe you did great on the riging and lift to keep from loosing the truck.!!!!!!!!
Man that curb saved that from rolling. That sucker was leaning! 👏👏👏💪💪💪
Great job guys love the top view
Great Job !
You guys have a cool job
Scary lift. Very impressive. Steak and lobster on Josh.
My hoodie just arrived yesterday ☺️. That driver legit took that curve like he was running solo.
Yeah, let’s go out and crawl around a leaning X-ray truck on a freeway off-ramp today. Yeah… said no man ever! Nice job guy. I see your trucks daily. Mad respect.
Dave's truck is one bad ass looking horse.
That was an easy job ... Job well done guys ❤say hello to papi chulo JOE ❤️
Hey Alex & Dave !!! Great recovery as always with NO damage to any equipment !!! 🙃😉😊👍👍👍👍👍 Can't say if the Driver did stop & GOAL to see if the trailer was OK to make the turn B/4 it went offroad !! 🤔🙄😌
I feel like we need YAH I KNOE merch at this point. I'd rock a hardhat sticker with that 🤣
I so love Pepe's, so happy i discovered it! I re-watch constantly!
Good morning from Southeast South Dakota
Good job bro
There's a cool couple mill just a leanin over like it's waiting for an excuse.
Also pretty amazing articulation on Big Flipper's outriggers there. I figured they had some flex to the them but not that much.
Alex aka Spiderman is at it again crawling all over the rigs. Tough looking job.
Alex and Dave great job, that truck didn’t look very good on the trailer! Thanks for sharing! Kevin
nice job guys
This truck driver never heard of "WHEN IN DOUBT GET OUT!" or he just never uses his right mirror!
Who takes his 52" trailer/lowboy in a right turn and doesn't look to see where his axles are?
This guy!
Good job Boss, you save this guy's bacon for sure!
4am or thereabouts, a little bit of fatigue maybe, **it happens. The ramp wasn't the best either, huge camber into the weeds, just a bad road design.
😂😂😂😂
@@colinl9018 100% drivers fault. Trailer was barely stretched. Stretching 13 to 15' is what an experience guy may consider barely. The camber into the weeds was beyond the curb, kinda not supposed to be there! Ramp was a slightly tight curve in the middle (driver didn't even make it that far)but massively wide and stretched to only 45' or so in the well he wouldn't even have come close to the curb if riding the guardrail with the front bumper the whole way. But go ahead and deny all the evidence.
Saludos
I did this the other day with my tandem slid to the back, turning into a small truck stop with my trainer in the passenger seat lol. Thank god it didn’t tip. That’s a real life lesson tho, I’ll be paying attention next time.
I really like the videos I have even been able to keep up with where you keep your rigging on Flipper you said something about protectors and I said yup they are on the passenger side . lol be safe
Nice save!
they sure know how to do it good job
This is also a very interesting job
Hello brother across the pond these HCV,s are used to scan interiors of what we call in the uk 18 wheelers or artics ,they can scan the insides to show whats in the container.P.S. hells bells that was close glad the professionals where called .peace to the crew and you
Excellent chains and tie downs, load stayed with the trailer, after drop off I would be checking the 5th wheel bolts and nuts, platform complete assembly
nice work
Yooo wtf did that driver smoke 😂
“Idk boss someone took the truck” is what’d I’d say 😂
well done
I tell you I was nervous the whole time you were crawling around on the top of that! I was saying some prayers for you buddy!
These pepe’s towing trucks are doing great job I will give them a 7 stars for their great service
Geile Technik Grüße aus Deutschland 👍👍👍
every time I watch you I see spider and his honesty makes me laugh all the time. Like calling this driver a liar… I’m a driver and he lied to y’all about what happened. I’m just seeing this video and knew what happened. 😂😂😂
That was an easy job ..... Job well done guys say hello to papi chulo JOE ❤️
You're a brave man! I wouldn't have claimed on top of that. It looked like 1 pound of pressure or a strong wind would have blown it over.
Job done well
