YOU guys need to take over ALL Aikido Dojos all over the world! Most Aikido practitioners get their asses whipped! I was taking Aikido and realized it was WORTHLESS! I RAN to the nearest kickboxing/grappling studio.. Under your instruction, I think Aikido can make a comeback, but don't know how it would fare in the UFC but you guys are the BEST I've seen on this art.
    GREAT video!!

"Walk a mile to avoid a fight.
But when the fight starts, don't back down an inch"
I don't know who said this!. But this simply explains the purpose of martial arts to me!.

  • @whoozl3540

Hello, I accidentally stumbled over one of your vdo's today and watched a few others, and... I'm deeply impressed! I practiced Aikido for altogether maybe 12 years with some breaks in between, but I finally had to quit because of diabetic neuropathy in my feet.
I find the fight avoidance message in your vdo very good and very important, and it always worked for me! It's good to know how you could defend yourself but it's better to never let it go that far. And Aikido is not only right technique and right practice, but also right behavior and right attitude. And this helped me a lot to never get into hairy situations. It's your own attitude that relaxes a situation and stops the intention to fight in your opponent. And if it doesn't work you still have the option to run away! And it's always better to avoid a fight than to fight - even if you could! In terms of winning or losing, avoiding a fight is even better than winning!
Great videos and great teaching - thank you!

@whoozi, Well said. The best fight to have is the fight that you avoid. And as you know, you ONLY fight if you have no choice and you have to defend yourself. Because as you probably know, EVEN if you win a fight....there is still the possibility that the person you beat up could sue you in court. Especially if you are bigger than the other guy. And if you know martial arts and they find that out, they could try to use that against you in court. They would try to say that your martial arts knowledge you knew was too your advantage so that made you "want to start the fight"
A friend of mine is about 5 foot 8 but he was a great high school wrestler. When somebody much bigger than him attacked him and my friend kicked his ass because he knew how to wrestle and the other guy didn't......the other guy sued him in court and said he "started the fight"......because he "knew how to use all these "weird wrestling moves" on him"

@Daniel Lindquist It's a fun channel indeed, although I have some problems with some of the techniques they show. Fair enough - Azu is a really big geezer, but for a smaller guy, like me, I would be in trouble if I performed some of the techniques the way they do. Personally, my favourite Aikidoka you can find on youtube is Mori Shihan. You should take a look at some of his videos.

I always try to walk away from trouble . But now days it is not that simple. Trouble seems to find me . When this happens and I know there is no walking away, I don’t hesitate I make my move before my opponent knows what is happening Aikidoflow is just going to enhance my skills even more than my 3 years as a kick boxer . Thanks you so much for this opertunity . You guys are awesome.

I had a roommate who asked me to go to a bar with him. I don’t go to bars because I don’t drink alcohol. At the bar he knocked the quarters off of a pool table. I had no idea what this meant. It means “I don’t care whose turn is next, f’ you all!” So this big guy comes over and angrily says “What the f’ is your problem!?” My roommate steps aside and points to me. I walked out of the bar. My roommate comes out really mad! He says “Why didn’t you back me up!?”
In his eyes I wasn’t a good friend.
In my eyes he was a criminal trouble maker. Who didn’t have a second thought about endangering my life and freedom.

I like you. We could have hung out together in my youth before the VA killed me. Of course they were shocked when when I came back. My heard started beating again after laying dormant for 5 days and the medics peeled me off of the carpet. But yeah you have a great attitude and the art seems to come naturally from within. Your body will protect itself if trained properly. All of me did not return with me when I came back but I am trying to train the remaining leg and remnants of my hands to become battle ready. Thank you for the videos they are an excellent tool to kick start my memories following the concussion that left me in a coma for 30 days after my death/rebirth.

This is an excellent video. Some other videos I saw on line say, that if you feel the person is really going to attack you, strike first. How do you know that ? Maybe they are just posturing and trying to intimidate you ? Maybe they are waiting for you to come at them ? How can a person really predict that someone will start a fight ? I have seen some say, that if you think they are going to attack you and you start walking away, they will follow you and then they will attack you ? Can a person really predict, if someone will strike first ? and then should you preempt it with a strike of your own ?

I was told by a police officer in the uk : you tell them nice and loud and clear you don't want trouble and you want them to leave you alone. If at that point they don't walk away, you're already in a fight, just one of you hasn't thrown the first hit yet. Don't let it be them.

I noticed that there is a very fine line where you need to chose weather you are going to lean to the left and do the arm slap, then to the neck, OR where you must duck to the right and come up quickly to the throat. Having the quick sense of mind as to what to do at just the right moment would mean win or lose... That being said, I'm afraid I do not posses that split second keen balance that would be needed to keep from getting my ars royally handed to me. Another great video. I really appreciate the inside track on the behaviour of aggressive people. I suffer from fear in the real world, but I do fairly well in martial arts. I've watched the aikidoflow video on harnessing fear, but information like this is very good indeed. To be honest, I'll likley never need it if I'm lucky, I make a point of not being in a spot in the first place.
I enjoy all of the aikidoflow videos, keep it up. You're a great bunch 👍

I wish I could find sensi's like them around my area. Seems most all American dojos anymore are only worried about tournament training. I've even seen the one my daughter goes to "correct" a student who did a move that "could hurt someone". Fighting is an absolute last resort but if someone wants to hurt me or my family, I am definately not going to worry about hurting someone. They definately aren't going to say "point for defender" and reset. What if you have multiple attackers and armed? You can't pussy foot around in that case. Sorry If I leave a mark.
