CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Miracle Max (Billy Crystal) gets yelled at by his wife Valerie (Carol Kane) while he tries to bring Westley (Cary Elwes) back to life.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Based on William Goldman's novel of the same name, The Princess Bride is staged as a book read by grandfather (Peter Falk) to his ill grandson (Fred Savage). Falk's character assures a romance-weary Savage that the book has much more to deliver than a simpering love story, including but not limited to fencing, fighting, torture, death, true love, giants, and pirates. Indeed, The Princess Bride offers a tongue-in-cheek fairy tale depicting stable boy-turned-pirate Westley's journey to rescue Buttercup (Robin Wright), his true love, away from the evil prince (Chris Sarandon), whom she had agreed to marry five years after learning of what she had believed to be news of Westley's death. With help from Prince Humperdinck's disgruntled former employee Miracle Max (Billy Crystal), swordsman Inigo Montoya (Mandy Patinkin), and a very large man named Fezzik (Andre the Giant), the star-crossed lovers are reunited.
CREDITS:
TM & © MGM (1987)
Cast: Andr the Giant, Billy Crystal, Cary Elwes, Mandy Patinkin, Carol Kane
Director: Rob Reiner
Producers: Norman Lear, Rob Reiner, Andrew Scheinman, Jeffrey Stott, Steve Nicolaides
Screenwriter: William Goldman

"Mostly dead is slightly alive" - What everyone thought when Jon Snow died.
But not when season 8 hit :D.
This kinda makes me sad, remembering how invested many of us were in that story and seeing how poorly it ended. I've basically tried to forget the whole thing.
Oh, well. It was just entertainment. In the grand scheme of things, it wasn't very important. Entertainment can help us cope with adversity, but if one source fails, there's always another source to make us think or laugh or hope. Still, _Game of Thrones_ was poised to be my all-time fave, but it just kind of petered out and died.
Is GoT mostly dead or all dead? Only time will tell. At this point, most people would rather just forget about it. The books are our only hope. Maybe Miracle Max can help George R. R. Martin finish them by reviving him if he dies prematurely. Maybe if the books are read in tandem with the last couple of seasons and we can switch on some head canon, the show will make more sense. I doubt it, but I suppose we can hope for a miracle.

Billy Crystal was AMAZING as Miracle Max

No one does......Billy says that the makeup was a cross between legendary New York Yankees manager Casey Stengel and his grandfather........but the voice was all his own.......
Everyone was amazing in this movie.
Fun fact: he ad-libbed most of his dialogue in this scene. The director had to leave the room because he got nauseous from holding his laughter. Mandy Pantinken, who plays Inigo, got a bruised rib from holding back laughter.

"Think it'll work?"
"It'll take a miracle."
The delivery of that line is perfect, because the audience has just enough ambiguity to not know if they're total hacks and their pill is bogus, or just don't think they can stop the wedding.
One of my favourite lines in the movie. It always seemed to me that Max simply had no faith in his work.
In just under four minutes, Billy Crystal and Carol Kane were able to make a lasting mark in an outstanding film. Excellent writing and acting brought to life what could have been a corny, deus ex machina plot twist.

Fun fact: This was the most expensive scene in the entire movie. They used so much film on this scene because Rob Reiner kept cracking up at Billy Crystal’s performance and ruining the takes. They were only able to finish filming the scene when Rob left the set.
Rob Reiner has excellent taste in comedy.
@@scottwpilgrim north 1994 would like to disagree with that
It also caused the only injury Mandy Patinkin suffered during filming, a bruised rib due to stifling his laughter.
Pretty sure you’ve got that wrong and it was Cary Elwes that had to be removed because he was supposed to be ‘mostly dead,’ and not ‘constantly snickering’ while they ran the lines.
This was from Cary’s book. I’m curious if I misremember it.
@@GriogharThomasBaldwin I just looked it up to be sure. Turns out we’re both right. Billy made *everyone* break out in laughter with the exception of Mandy Patinkin who, as mentioned above, bruised a rib trying to keep a straight face. Aside from that, Rob had to watch the filming on a monitor from another room to keep from ruining takes and Cary had to be replaced with a dummy in some shots because of his movements.
The director had to leave the set often during these scenes. He would laugh so hard it would make him nauseous. The actor who played Inigo actually got bruised ribs because he had to stifle laughing.

Carol Kane steals this scene.
Not an easy thing that...
God, I wish we had some of the outtakes from this scene available. I bet they were a riot.
From what I understand, Billy Crystal and Carol Kane's lines were all ad-libbed. From what the other actors, and the production crew involved said, it was difficult to retain their composure. Especially when it came to Billy Crystal, seeing as he was the one who was most prone to change things up between takes, so they never knew what he was gonna say! Not to say that Carol Kane didn't throw in a curveball or two! There were actually some takes where they had to take Cary Elwes out of the shot and replace him with a dummy, seeing as his character was supposed to be "mostly dead", but he kept laughing, as did Andre the Giant. Rob Reiner, the director, had to leave the set altogether because he could not stop himself from laughing. The only one to retain his composure throughout it all, despite Billy Crystal's best efforts to make him laugh, was Mandy Patinkin, who managed to hold in his laughter, but cracked a rib doing so! Knowing all this, I can *only* imagine what went on!
I would TOTALLY PAY to watch all that😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
