- A lot of games focus on perfecting one genre, but some audaciously mash together several. These are my four favourite genre-mashing indie games. Support the channel: / gaminginthewild

looking at Battle Chef Brigade I instantly thought that it looked like My Adventures with Superman's artstyle and turns out theyre both made by adult swim. coincidentally that show's second season is releasing today and I didnt know until now lol
I've been waiting to get around to Battle Chef Brigade for years now, and this definitely moved it up my list!
Battle Chef Brigade is one of my favorites precisely because of the art style and how the puzzle and the platforming blend so well to create engaging duels between chefs.
This criminally underrated game deserves much more attention, and I still hope that it gets a proper sequel someday.
I like that you feature games with various art styles in your videos.. 😊
Thanks! Yeah I'm a sucker for a nice art style and a good soundtrack, too
The Wild of Hearts stands out to me the most of all. May look more into that.
Want to give a mention to No Straight Roads from 2020 too. Not perfect and worth talking about.
I'm not saying "*but*" worth talking about" because it's not good to only remember the successes. Everything can have something to offer.
Moonlighter didn't quite do it for me. The dungeon half and the store half were both a little too simple, and I got tired of how much time I had to spend messing with my inventory.
I went into Battle Chef Brigade with no expectations. It was just a game that got into my library from a Humble Monthly subscription and I decided to try it based on its nice looking splash art in the Steam library. It turned out to be an absolute treat. Great art and voice work, a simple but engaging story, and really fun gameplay where the two parts really supported each other.
Great recommendations. I recently marathoned Dave the Diver and it also feels like one of those games that do a great mash up.
Moonlighter is heaps fun. Great pick.
“Wild of hearts” looks intresting.I played “Pikmin”games but there where soon becoming hard to get thru personally.I hope “Wild hearts”is less difficult and a more enjoyable experience. You’re one of the indie games channels I follow on CZcams. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, I'll love them up! ✨
i myself really enjoyed playing cult of the lamb
moonlighter was too easy for my taste
really like these kinda videos now imma wishlist the wild at heart
Of the two of these I've played (Lamb and Moonlighter) I found that in both cases each of the two halves just felt like weak, underdeveloped versions of better games that focused on just one. In neither case did I feel like the two halves did enough to talk to each other to justify them both in the same game; Lamb was worse in this regard than Moonlighter but both seemed like they were ultimately less than the sum of their respective parts.
I disagree with you there, especially in Cult of the Lamb. I felt that both halves were built up nicely to compliment the other, with combat affecting the compound and the village building affecting combat. The combat in that game feels awesome, and the compound gets real character.
