    Good job Tom. I have myself the Evolution Wireless ew 500P G4 and it works
    remarkably well. Also very easy to setup. Only one thing, keep extra AA batteries on you just in case...
    Thank you Tom.

    This particular wireless mic system from Sennheiser was at the very top of my filmmaking purchase list for all items due to the reported benefits and industry prestige. However, I went with the Rodelink Wireless Filmmaker Kit System (for my first wireless mic system) because of the great sound I get from the Rode NTG3 and the good warranties Rode provide but I'm still planning to purchase this particular Sennheiser unit. GREAT video!

      RodeLinks however have many flaws, not least their bulk! Which sucks for any kind of half serious filmmaking.

    Thanks for this, Tom! Looks like you specifically tested the kit with the 500 series TX and RX and the upgraded MKE 2 Gold lavalier. Sounds good to me. As for the signal drops, this is not uncommon with most wireless systems I've used when you are out of line of sight like that. Good work, this is really helpful.

      @curtis do you still stand by the Sennheiser 512p for wireless systems using XLR input? I want to have more pro audio vs rode Go II and am looking at this. The chain would be G4->SD302 mixer->Sony K3M direct in Sony A7s III for pro interview work for clients ?

    What microphone would you recommend for sport?
    I mean about running and talking to mic and transmiting signal using this Sennheiser staff?
    Your mic ME 2-II collects to much noise from the area.
    I tried another one Sennheiser ME 4 - and this one is extremely sensitive if you touch the cable.
    I need the mic that can be touched, using it during running or jumping.
    Could you recommend any?

      Go for the Sony UWP-D11 if you'd like a nice upgrade from the RodeLinks but still at a very affordable price.

      @FilmmakerTery Před 5 lety

      Thanks. Dope name by the way. Have you used that model before? I was mainly upgrading for distance and smaller body packs to fit in the audio straps for the talent. Please let me know if the distance are good. I know they sound good cause a sound guy I worked with b4 had them

    • @SoundSpeeding
      @SoundSpeeding Před 5 lety +1

      Thanks! I've got a sound channel on YT myself ;-) And as I say "Sound Speed!" so many times a day it seems appropriate!
      I own *FIVE* sets of Sony UWP-D11, best bang for your buck under $1K
      Also have 2x RodeLinks (errr.... don't bother with the Filmmakers Kit. The Newshooter Kit? Ok ish on a penny pinching budget) and 3x Saramonics UwMic9 (rather rubbish... one set has broken already. But I picked them up for like a hundred bucks a set each secondhand. Ok ish to lend out to friends I suppose?!).
      Also have... ummmm..... lost count! Many many many sets of Lectrosonics. Last time I did a count I had 8 channels, but I think I might have 14 channels now of Lectrosonics (although I need to get the backplate for a Lectro SR before that is up and running)
      Never owned a G3/G4 (although of course when starting out, I used G1/G2/G3 a lot! Just like everybody else).

    • @FilmmakerTery
      @FilmmakerTery Před 5 lety

      Sound Speed! Nice! The Sony is the same price as the Senheiser g4 with the newshooter reciever too so I'm gonna get g4. I like these features. I get my sound gear from zzounds and they dont carry the Sony udp. So I wont get it.

    Would this system work with a dictation application, such as Nuance Dragon Naturally Speaking? Would I be able to connect it to a computer and use it as a microphone that way? Or is it only designed to be used with a camera?

    Hi Tom, in 2022 do you still recommend it in terms of preferable wireless setup for filmmakers? I use Rode Wireless Go II, but having problems with signal interferences from time to time, especially during live streams indoors. Sennheiser is not a new product, but still remains to be industry standard..? Cheers from Kraków!

    Nope, the entry level G4 doesn't give you any real benefits over the older G3. And they're both still lagging behind the Sony UWP-D11 which is priced the same. Plus there are new products coming along soon, such as Deity's wireless.
