Thanks Brother! Btw, Super envious of your new Sena to Radio set up! Hoping mimic your set up in the near future, What hand held radio did you end up going with?
The amateur radio enthusiasts recommendation the Baofeng GT3TP. Seems good so far. Not sure how it will go getting wet, but we'll try to keep it dry :)
Awesome! I'll have to look up that Kel Tec, looking for a little gun to pack along. Always have my Glock but never hurts to look. Can't wait to see some video from the ride.
We had a great dirt trip in the High Country this weekend but we did forget to pack the camp gun oops . serious stuff out your neck of the woods :) have a great trip
Questions for you. Is that a Seat Concepts seat and do you like it for long trips? Did you have any suspension mods done and by who? I'm putting together a 2017 690 ER (when it arrives) with a RR Rally fairing and tanks kit and a ton of other additional parts and changes for a 40 day U.K., Europe and North Africa trip next spring. I'm shooting for 450lbs fully loaded with food, fuel and gear. Do you like the windshield and does it eliminate buffeting? Will it run highway speeds (and then some) confidently and how efficiently? Thanks for any input you can give me! I'm switching to the KTM from my trusty KLR that I've been all over Alaska, Yukon and NWT on.
Its a Tall Seat Concepts seat and it works great for me at 6 ft 2. I have the suspension re-sprung and re valved by Alex at Konflict motorsports in WA. I think 450 lbs totally loaded is very attainable as the bike is 370 wet and fully fueled minus luggage. The windsceen adjustment is great but its currently a 1 off adapted kit. Hope this helps
That explains why I can't find that windshield. I too am 6'2 and want a tall seat, but one that I can put 500 mile days in on and still narrow for standing. Speaking of which, did you have to elevate your bars much for comfort? I'm thinking 2" riser along with my Scott's/BRE isolator is a good start. I'm considering going with MotoBau lowering pegs too that offer an inch drop. I'll check out your suspension guy about sending my stuff in. Did you upgrade to an external spring adjuster? Up rate the spring?
Bars did need to come up. High bend bars and a BRP scotts mount with 1.25" risers did it for me. I didn't mess around with an adjuster but it did end up with a considerably stiffer spring rate for my weight.
Thanks for your input! Aside from the bars, I pretty much have the same setup. Did any cable need extended? Are your pegs stock? Another big yet seemingly subjective question, what sprockets are you running? I'm thinking about having 2 sets with me. The 14/45 and a 15/48 or 50 for the desert. I have the exact pannier racks and tail plate, but haven't decided on which soft bags to go with yet. I will use 2 Rotopacks, 1 per side for H2o for the 14 days in Morocco. I should have plenty of internal fuel capacity plus 1 liter stowed in one of the bags. Are you up for making this trip? 3 Brits, 1 Scot, 1 Aussie and myself the lone American are going, though only myself and 1 of the Brits are riding the entire trip through the U.K. and Europe. The others are doing various parts or Morocco only.
Cables JUST made it. I am running 14-45 for the local trails and 15-45 for longer trips. I think the best bet for all round would be 15-48 or 15-49. I built the bike for trips around the PNW but I'd like to think its ready for a longer one if I could pull it off.
Awesome! Trips for all of us!
Im looking forward to your videos too!

Very nice! I'm thinking about getting soft luggage too for solo trips
Much lighter!
Very cool bike....
Awesome set up. Looks like you could use a new set of hand grips.
hey there. i was curious about your rally raid kit. what was it worth canadian and how many litres of fuel did it add? for a total of how many litres?
Been trying to find the company who makes that front headlight assembly. Thank you!
Are these nb 990's?
Is that the rally raid evo 2 fairing? Or the lynx fairing. The front looks like lynx and the sides look like rally raid aha
its a one off hybrid of the two. Good eye
