  • How to replace the Oil and Oil Filter on a 2007-2011 Toyota Camry v6 which is the same for all 2007- 2011 Camry v6’s. The work performed in the video was on a 2009 Camry v6 Sedan, but yours will be very similar if it is a v6. Remember that the 4 cylinder versions have a completely different filter which is a spin on filter. The v6 has a oil filter cap which requires a special fluted filter wrench to open and has a replaceable filter inside.
I skipped removing the filter cap cover on the bottom of the filter housing because it was over torqued. This means that a lot more oil spilled when I took the housing off. To see how to drain the oil from the oil filter housing check out this video: • how to change the oil ...

Excellent. To the point freaking straightforward. Exactly what I needed to know. Going to see how much money I can save by doing it myself.

Thank you, I am doing my first oil change on my new to me v6, I’d never seen these oil filter types before and the filter I bought was different to the one that came out, (must just be a different brand) I’ve double checked the number and it looks the same as the one in the video. Again thank you for the short and informative video.

None of these videos show the small O ring being changed. That's the part that went in my car and all the oil leaked out. Both need to be changed.

@@mr.growngamer1369 There's a plug in the outer end of the canister that most people don't bother to take off. There is an O-ring in there that went bad in mine because the mechanic didn't change it.

Great video. Only sad thing is I bought that same exact tool from Walmart and I cracked it because it was so over torqued.

Why did you check the oil level when not all the oil was in there lol? Its a v-6 right? Book says 6.4qts. You put 5 in and THEN ran the engine and immediately checked the oil? Wtf man?

@@jamesmir89 Meh. There are plenty out there. Wouldn't think I would need to make one anyways pointing out how goofy it is to check the oil level when you have not come close to putting the right amount in there. Or, not to check it right after you ran the engine. But I digress.

V6 model (mine is an 08): The proper torque for the oil drain plug is 30 ft-ln; the proper torque for the filter drain cap is 108 in-lb; the proper torque for the filter cap housing is 18 ft-lb. Hope this helps someone.

4.5 quarts on 2.4L , 4.7 quarts on 2.5L , and 6 quarts on 3.5L V6 models , any time you want to check your oil and have had the engine started or running you need to allow a couple minutes for the oil to return to the pan once you cut it off to get a proper reading…..your gonna have some people over fill there oil pan this way!

Didn't some Camrys have an oil filter accessible through the wheel well? I thought I saw that once before. I own a Volkswagen and it fortunately isn't designed that way. If I ever get another car I would want to make sure that the filter isn't there of all places. I know some Nissans and other Japanese cars are like that but not all. It is just going to be one of the first things I want to know before buying a car. When I saw that oil change video I was shocked to see they made basic maintenance so difficult, I mean I never had to take a tire off to get to an oil filter. That would be one of the most absurd ideas anyone had since the beginning of time! My Volkswagen has the filter under the car and while some might choose to put it on ramps I don't consider that to be such a pain as having to take a wheel off to get to an oil filter. I wonder how many people ended up getting oil on their brakes and had a car that smokes and smells horrible because of it. That would be unacceptable!!!!
