- This is a big tiny house with a whole lot to love. If you’ve been looking for a spacious tiny house design which is larger than most, with a huge downstairs bedroom, this is one you won’t want to miss.
Emily designed her home to be large enough to comfortably accommodate guests as well as have space for a work-from-home office. There is a super comfortable lounge, massive kitchen and a really nice outdoor area.
The main bedroom of this home is like nothing we've seen before. Downstairs and the full height of the home, it's absolutely palatial!
Completely off the grid, with a large solar system, rainwater collection, composting toilet and grey water system, this home was able to easily be parked in a her friends paddock, allowing Emily to be close to her horses. It's not only a beautiful home but an incredible lifestyle!

I know you've shown at least one other house (Bryce) with her basic layout - walk into the lounge, stairs to the right, kitchen at the end - but this is THE best one with that arrangement. (But why didn't you video the loft rooms - moving through, I mean? It's a little hard to visualize.) Overall, wowsie wow wow wow! I'll take one.

As someone who’s seriously thinking about tiny house living in NZ, it would be great to know the builders of the homes you visit. I know I’ve seen this design before but I can’t place where.
Probably one of the nicest tiny homes I've ever seen. I love that her bedroom is on the first level instead of the loft, but that she has enough space for a loft bedroom for guests. Thanks for sharing this one, Bryce!

You get to learn from others what works and what doesn’t, so when you build your own, it turns out like this gorgeous large-tiny house.😊 I know I’m borrowing ideas all the time. This place is literally the perfect size for what I'm thinking about doing. Just big enough to live and work from home. Really great space!
Well let me tell you I built a similar building (12x30) (14 foot tall) and I only spent around 25k. I already had land though. It looks just as nice as this one. That price includes everything, plumbing, electricity, water, ext. I built it myself though, and if you find the right contractor or carpenter you will be paying around 35000$ to 40000$ total. I never have understood why people pay this much money to live in tiny homes it defeats the purpose. If I had 145000$ I would be buying something much more efficient then this. With that saying, the home is absolutely lovely and nice, but the cost of the home makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. I have no idea who she went through because that price is insane.
It's like an apartment taken out of an apartment without the restrictions of a shipping container. Very cool. Horse girls rock
The kitchen is better designed than many regular homes. Plenty of counter space around the sink, cooktop and even next to the refrigerator. 💕
I got a hoot out of Bryce's face when Emily said she's not into cooking much! Fantastic designs Emily. Wish you the very best on your friend's land with those precious horses!
After watching so many tiny home videos and hearing how much the occupants love to cook, finally someone whose sentiments I share, LOL! I need an efficient kitchen and cooking tools BECAUSE I don't like to cook. I'll grow the food. I prefer to let someone else turn it into a meal.😋

Okay, this is my favorite one so far! I also work from home on a little floor desk and LOVE how she turned the loft into an office. Also, living off the grid and together with nature and her animals - what more to ask for?!
This looks like another Shaye design & is now my favourite. Love the downstairs bedroom addition and the high ceilings etc. And how lucky to have a friend with that land .... the hard part.

@@Taahia thought so. A lot of tiny home builders I have seen have been using a version of Shayes original design. It’s a winner for sure.
This is just what I had in mind! I love the idea of hosting and having room to grow because I would go a little bit crazy if I just had a small box for a maximum of 2 people

Very, very nice. Adding that bit of extra space allows you to move from squeezing everything in to a point where you can "add" things that you would "also" like to have. A larger deck also adds to the amount of livable space. No compromises on this effort. Well done.
It's the perfect size home. I am a seamstress and need an extra room for my sewing. I also prefer a downstairs bedroom close to the bathroom. It's also a perfect location. Wow!

This bedroom is about the same size as mine in a traditional house but 200x more functional and beautiful! This is definitely one of the loveliest, most well planned homes you have visited.

This is an awesome home. When people first started saying what they are paying for these I was thinking, that is not a deal. But with housing costs being what they are, even what seems like a lot for such a small space now sounds reasonable.
What a beautiful lovely and welcoming home ❤️ I loved all of it, but also with the horses just outside the door. I lived with horses sharing my garden fence for seventeen years, I would have a cup of tea in the garden and they'd come up to the fence and we'd have a chat, I miss that very much 😔 Telling them off too in the middle of the night when lying in bed and I could hear them eating my plants just outside my window, they'd be so surprised I knew what they were doing 🤣🤣

I really love the extra details with this tiny house. The downstairs full bedroom with the high ceiling, washer and dryer outside in a shed, and being totally off-grid, makes this the perfect design. I have a piece of land and this makes the perfect solution for my own tiny house!
Seeing some comments that are missing the point: the house is tiny not just because it’s smaller than average, it also follows the philosophy of the tiny house and the deep roots of minimalism.

At last - a tiny home owner who doesn't love cooking!!! Sometimes it feels like a love of cooking is mandatory if you're going to live in a tiny house, so it's great to hear from someone who loves tiny house life but still finds cooking a chore!
This is a gorgeous house, I would love to see her floor plan. We have been living in our "Tiny" for two years now and there are definitely things we would change and are considering building another.
Would you mind sharing some things you would do differently?
@@Kelly_Ben we would build it to 3m wide (rather than 2.4m) x 10m long. We have a dishwasher and when this is down, you cannot step around it easily. Also we would put the living room and office upstairs with main bedroom downstairs. We find that we change our clothing downstairs so it would be easier to have our bedroom downstairs too.

Honestly, In my country, if I put so many windows in my house, I would fear getting robbed😅
I feel western countries have really nice and developed places outside the city area and also a flexible work culture that allows people to work from home because living far away from your work is also a big hassle if you have to travel every day.
We put lots of windows in our homes because firstly we want to let a lot of natural light in, secondly it adds to a feeling of spaciousness, thirdly we enjoy living outdoors in NZ and maintainability that indoor/outdoor flow is important to our well-being, fourthly it affects the aesthetics of a design and takes away from a rectangle with a door and lastly because we can, we don’t need to fear our chances of being robbed increases by the number of windows we have in our designs, so it’s anything BUT overkill.
@@thinking102 kinda the same thinking for Australia. Lots of light and outdoor living is important. I mean her home is in a beautiful spot, why wouldn't you put in beautiful big windows. So much of the outside world that you can 'bring inside'.

USD 140,000 is an excellent price for this house. While watching, I was sure it would be a lot more. I guess it would fall in the range of a higher-end park model without the huge sales price. Absolutely beautiful.

This is my dream, being on the land with my horses, have chooks, a garden but as a single woman having something affordable. Great job Emily on achieving your dream!
A downstairs beedroom is a major plus. No having to climb down to use the toilet in the middle of the night. I've watched more tiny house video's than I can remember but this is a design I would want to copy for sure. Why? Because the upstairs bedroom doesn't require stooping because the floor goes down into the kitchen area without impleading on the kitchen. The kitchen is nice and big. Heck, this is tiny house literally has 2 full bedrooms and a convertible 3rd! It is huge and after living in a full size house, this arrangement doesn't sacrifice that much. This has to be in my top five if not top fav layout. This really has it all. Landscape, deck, shed. Thanks for posting dimensions and cost in USD for us Americins! LOL Considering the high cost of housing these days, that's pretty affordable! I suppose the biggest problem for many of us is finding a place to park the tiny home. Luckily for Aussies is they have a really big country with lots of land and in Emily's case, it helps to know some to have an arrangement with.
