In a series that had jinns and superheroes, the most unbelievable thing was a middle eastern mother's sudden change of heart for no reason.
I'm searching and in some maps Pakistan is part of the middle-east, and in some maps it's not, so I guess it's up to Pakistanis to decide. Culturally, it's much closer to middle-east than far-east for sure.
@@aghayefilmi pakistan is located in South-Asia and the culture is alot different from the middle east. It's closer to Indian culture than middle eastern culture. Basically Pakistani culture is South Asian.
@@shayankw I agree. I'm Indian and I feel like Pakistani culture is very similar. Can't say the same about Lebanon or Saudi.
Nah man it's in south Asia, India Pakistan have same culture I mean were both the same country before partition
90% of the time they will double down and emotionally neglect you
I can't believe there was no mention of the Dad's Hulk Cosplay with the traditional clothes ( Which a little kid wore to the wedding) One of the best scenes in the show.
I loved Abba with all of my heart during that scene.
I only noticed the little kid in the Hulk costume on my second watching.
That was sooo sweet!
@@penguinwithin this Abba was so awesome only my own dad is better than this dad.
@@Asciel high praise!
I literally could not stop thinking about how baffling it was to make Bruno dress like Marty McFly for two whole episodes
@JDPlaysMoth
He wore that life preserver because he's a sailor, Coast Guard, and he was only gonna be in port for a little while. Or maybe he was afraid he was gonna drown.
Omg yes!!! Every time I see that outfit I'm like "whyyyy is Bruno dressed like Marty McFly????"
My favorite thing about this is someone who hasn't seen the show might assume the animated X-Men audio sting at the word "mutant" is a sound edit for humorous effect, but no, it's in the show.
Such a shame that they made her a mutant rather than an inhuman like in the comics
Gave me chills. I love the X-men and it’s gonna be wild when they arrive in the MCU after years of waiting.
@@mds_main No, it was a shame they created Inhumans in the first place. She should have been a mutant from day one.
You didn't have to do my boy Bruno like that. "Swag less Peter Parker" lmao
It’s even funny when you learn that Matt Lintz was in the running to be Peter Parker but got beaten out by Tom Holland.
Breaking news, Tom Holland's Peter Parker has... (checks notes)... swag? Did I miss a movie
I just know that if he had swag, the real Spider-Man design would have came from him, not Tony smh
You mean Brian?
It's true he's a boring character

I wish that this series was just allowed to focus on Kamala. They do so much right with her character, personality, friends, family, and development. The problem is the same one that you can see in most Phase 4 projects. Rushing to get everything set up at once, making it seem grander than it is, focusing on worldbuilding in different directions, and losing track of what made the show unique in the first place due to time constraints and the grandiose scale that Phase 4 is going for solely to try and top Endgame with every project. I know it's a meme to say Mysterio was right, but I can't help but feel like there was a writer venting when he said "Nobody cares unless it's an Avengers-Level Threat". Well I care more about telling good stories with good characters. Having world-ending cosmic scales shouldn't minimize character development. And they did so much of Kamala right, I wish we could have focused more on the personal plot than the dimensional plot.
They bend over backwards to not make Kamala an Inhuman, combining several less-relevant comic details to create the ClanDestines, which were easily the worst part of the show despite the fascinating patchwork that created them, all for it to be revealed that Kamala is an X-Men, which currently don't have a movie focused on them until at least Phase 7. And now we're immediately flung to space for The Marvels. Let Kamala stay street level please.
Yeah I’d rather Namor be the first mutant, given he was in the comics
I just thought the series sucked.
@@Cyraxior don’t say something sucks without giving a single reason why you think that.
No Marvel character stays street level for long. No great level of power comes without non street level consequences. Also Kamala powerful and worthy enough to be an Avenger anyways.
They rushed because they could only do 6 episodes because of COVID.
This show could have done with slower relationship character development and/or more episodes, but I gotta say, the two episodes set in Pakistan were incredibly well done
I wish Bruno and Ms would have become a couple.
the Pakistan present and past story was great
@@johnnyace2287 hey it's possible they will if they make a season 2.
The show could have done with a hero who anybody actually cared about.
@@Xannyphantom905 There are so many valid criticisms to make about the show, why bother completely making one up?
The way Kamala's mom changed from being super strict and kinda paranoid to "oh we're chill" , AFTER she found out her daughter was a Djinn who would often travel alone ( at night, *gasp * ) and put her life at risk to save random people ( not even just the Desi community ones) AND had to keep it incognito ( can't brag to Sharma ji next door), is SO SO SO NOT A BROWN MOM THING 😂
Edit: Yes I am aware there are many types of desi mothers. Not the point y'all 😂. And also that there are plot reasons why she changed her behaviour ofc, but the point is this 180 twist makes it a little un-relatable for most of us for a show that otherwise is VERY relatable.
Her mom was a rebel though. It runs in the family so it kind of tracks.
I’m a mom & watch my eldest going through something like this. And that was my reaction.
The final draw was when he told me he & a friend try to summon Djin one night. But thankfully no one date came. I was just so relieved that he’s ok
Literally doesn’t make sense
I think it was implied that she knew about this djinn thing and that's why she was so strict with Kamala. It's like a suppressed attitude after they were mocked because of her mother's djinn/stars narrative. But when they went back to Pakistan she rediscovered this attitude towards the whole supe thing and was now supportive of Kamala because she understood that Kamala was just like her but wanted to not have this suppressed attitude cycle.
@@lagunablade383 Ya her mom literally had been telling her stories and maybe some others which made her mom a weirdo and made her childhood awkward.. When she realizes it is true she realizes she needs to be supportive.
Even living in a world comprised almost completely of glass shards wouldn't give you more spooky skeletons in your closet than claiming to have a girlfriend in another dimension.
Saw this series and was like: “Doesn’t look like it’s geared toward me. Hope other people enjoy it!”
"The MCU asks you to imagine the impossible. Can anything good come from Jersey"? 😂
“When a magic bracelet unlocks her inner Mario maker” lol I can’t 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

MAKE AN HONEST TRAILER OF WILLOW!

The British do make great bad guys, at least here in America. They let us be angry about someone else's colonialism without feeling bad about our own. Britain, your sacrifice to the people of America is appreciated.
America is literally founded on anti-colonialism. That's why we love to hate the British; we threw off theirs.
Brits were next level tho: learn about the Opium Wars. Or Boer wars. On top of ruling the Indian subcontinent.
We Americans are rank amateurs.
@@CorePathway Happy to not be first in this. Wish we were lower.
It's not just in the US. The British are the unambiguous villains in Scotland (William Wallace anyone?), Whales, Ireland, France (can't forget Jeanne d'Arc either), China (Opium Wars), India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, really the whole Middle East post-Ottoman Empire, and South Africa. By comparison, the US was mostly "colonial" only because we inherited it from the limeys. Actually, we inherited slavery from them too. Thanks Britain!
The names in the Starring part at the end were pure genius, well done

God I don't understand that hype. Movie was bad imo. It had cool spectacle.. But it's looks and acts like an historical movie, then you have epic CGI fights. Just feels unnatural. Dunno. The acting was fine. But the story was boring imo. Felt like a historical drama who was bored of their history and wanted to be more like lord of the rings
Could the show have been better? Yes. Do I wish it wasn’t crammed into six episodes? Yes. Am I content with what we got and LOVE Iman Velani’s acting? YES!
Yeah like moon knight I don’t think 6 episodes is enough
@@Skyebright1 😊
It's such a high point for South Asians. We never get any love from Hollywood, especially Pakistanis.
Ok
I've gotta be honest, the main thing that Ms. Marvel accomplished is making me want to read the comics instead. The visual effects on her powers are just...not very good. Neither did the plot grip me particularly well either. The main thing I'll give it credit for are some pretty creative visuals otherwise. I really liked the way text messages appeared in the environment, for instance.
I think it’s because the whole “stretchy human powers” thing is hard to make look good in live action, and that’s why they changed her powers for this (and even then they still don’t look great).
Go back to school.
@@James-zi5en No thanks. I have no interest in being a teacher. Though, here's a free lesson to make up for it: People have differing opinions. Things like "I didn't like the plot" or "I thought the visual effects didn't look good" are examples of opinions. When people have these personal opinions, and they differ from your own, it's not a personal attack on you or your own personal tastes. One person can like something, while another person dislikes it, and both can be equally valid positions to hold.
Once you understand that differences in opinions aren't personal attacks, perhaps you won't feel defensive when someone has a different opinion than yours. You may even feel less compelled to lash out at people who have those differing opinions. It's much less stressful that way, and you'll be happier for it.
getting ypu to want to read the comics is an amazing accomplishment...cause they were pretty terrible
We need an Honest TraileRRR.
Nope
This show would have been so much stronger if they hadn't tried to cram the Clandestine plot line and a "Kamala learns the ropes and protects/defends her community" into the same six episodes. If the writers couldn't get more episodes, they should have held off on Najma and Kamran until there was an opportunity to tell that story properly, because every time Ms.Marvel focused on Kamala interacting with her friends and family it was more engaging than anything the clandestines were involved in. Iman Vellani was consistently a delight, but the story overall was just ok after a great first two episodes.
I'd have been happy with 3 episodes of learning the ropes then 3 episodes of fighting bad guys, while maybe learning a little more and earning her mums trust by the end. They just didn't sit well how they tried to jam them both into each episode.
agreed, there was already plenty of story with Kamala juggling school, superheroing, and having strict Asian parents. Hell, they could've still kept the Partition parts without bringing in the Clandestines.
It was still pretty good and the Kid that plays Kamala is spot on and will take this character pretty far (if they let her).
I know right the is amazing no complains to the director and VFX artists or actors but just episode five felt a bit rushed , they could have had eight episodes to give it some space you know ,i had the same problem with loki and moonknight, otherwise it's a great show
Exactly! The clandestines just bogged down a decent show

When they first advertised this show, I was expecting a light hearted kids romp, not a story where half of an entire episode in spent during Partition.

To be fair, the events of Partition were heavily featured in a Ms. Marvel arc revealing how Kamala's bangle passed down through her family. But it was definitely a flashback, not part of the main story. Still, between this and Doctor Who, at least Western media IS addressing Partition.

Honestly the change of trust with the mother was the hardest part for me to believe. I’m not Pakistani, but I had very strict parents growing up and it took them until I was in my mid 20s for them to trust me. Even though I was a good kid that didn’t get into trouble! Trust doesn’t just happen overnight, and how does becoming a superhero increase your trust in them? My mom would’ve been PISSED and probably would’ve tried to ground me or something if the same thing happened to me that did to Kamala.
(Obviously I know there’s a big cultural difference here and I’m sure the representation is a part of the trust change, but still…it was just hard for me to believe)
