Marella Explorer Cruise Diaries Pt 3 - Rhodes and Chania Vlog

- We've just spent an amazing week on the beautiful Marella Explorer on the Iconic Islands Cruise and absolutely loved it.
Although our first time on the Marella Explorer, we've actually holidayed on it before when it was the Celebrity Galaxy - the ship made famous in TV's, The Cruise with Jane MacDonald.
The Marella Explorer is one of five cruise ships in the Marella Cruises Fleet, the others being, The Marella Explorer 2, The Marella Discovery, The Marella Discovery 2 and the Marella Voyager.
If you have been watching our channel for a while, you may know that Rach used to work on the cruise ships many years ago as a production dancer and then as a choreographer.
One of Rach's ships that she worked on for a good while was the Celebrity Century, the sister ship of the Celebrity Galaxy, which is what the Marella Explorer now is.
If you like cruise ship diaries, beautiful locations, Greece, the Mediterranean and anything cruise ship related, then this is the video for you. Over the next few weeks, we will be releasing our cruise ship diaries for the week, focusing on 2 days at a time.
In this Marella Explorer Cruise Ship Diary, it's days 5 and 6 and we visit the beautiful Greek islands of Rhodes and Crete, where we visit Rhodes Town and Chania.
In this Rhodes and Chania vlog (Chania's port is Souda), we start the day in Rhodes Town where we check out the Street of the Knights and the Palace of the Knights before visiting the Roloi clock tower and spending the rest of the day exploring Rhodes Town.
The end of the day, we're back onboard the Marella Explorer where we take in the show, tonight the show was the comedian, Herbie Adams, eat some lovely food and drink lots of fine wine and beer.
The next day sees us in Crete, in the port of Souda, which is the port for the beautiful Chania.
We take a good look around Chania town, the famous light house and the stunning Venetian Harbour.
If you like Greece vlogs or Greek Island vlogs, then this Rhodes vlog and Chania vlog is for you.
At the end of the day, we end up back onboard the ship for another evening's entertainment. Tonight's entertainment was Jon Fisher as Gary Barlow.

Postcard & A Pint was thought up by my partner, Rachel & myself, Wills one day while taking our daily 1 hour exercise during the lockdown of 2020. All of a sudden, we were spending more time together, not working 6 or 7 days a week in the arts industry, and binge watching travel programs, and we were actually really enjoying it, and it made us re-evaluate what was important in life for us. Now back to working 6 or 7 days a week again, with very little time off, our happy time is getting out there on our brief times off together and making short travel videos that we are now sharing with you. I love your videos. So many resonate with me growing up in North Wales and spending the 80s in Rhyl. This video of yours reminds me of a 90s cruise I went on around the eastern Med on the Azur. Germany had recently reunited and I was on a cruise with 750 passengers from the former East Germany for a retro music cruise with my ex, Mungo Jerry, Dave Dee and Pussycat as the entertainment. The ship anchored off the coast near Lindos for a concert and it was an amazing night. I remember we hit a storm off the coast of Crete just as my ex started his act and everybody was sick when the boat lunged suddenly. Sick bags located on the handrails on all the stairs for all the vomiting passengers. The magician was clinging on to a column in the changing room and his rabbit escaped. But it did make a change from summer season at the Gaiety Theatre in Rhyl with Aubrey Philips!
What a brilliant story!!! I worked on the ships in the 90’s - I don’t have any worries as good as that, but definitely remember the sick bags in the hand rails on rough sea nights! Sounds like a brilliant cruise! I’ve done many a shows where the band had to be roped down!!! You know you’re in for a bumpy show then! Another belter ! Two great port stops…Rhodes Rhodes Rhodes …so much to see and do….It’s a fabulous place. Really enjoyed walking the walls on our last visit. Chania was a Beter stop than Heraklion for us… good ice cream 🍦…. And a lovely beach 🏖️…. Looking forward to the next episode

These vlogs have definitely made us want to visit Greece. I've not been since i was a child and Pete has never been. Rhodes was so pretty.🥰. What beautiful churches ⛪️. Ah Rach, lost audio, if it is any consolation we could tell by lip reading that was some stellar historic information! 😂👌We have loved watching you guys explore the Greek Islands, what a perfect trip for your channel, another adventure every day, we would like you to stay on the ship another week too please!😂👍. It was all happening back on the ship wasn't it, looks fun😊. Although we agree with the 'bright and bold, we are too old' sentiment😂😂. Those holiday sunsets never do get old do they, stunning 😍.

Loved the medieval knight chuckle brothers 😂 wow that street is incredible and great exhibition! The 14th century palace is impressive wow lightning and gunpowder 😮 not a great combination, Wills 💥 😂 great views from the clock tower worth the 53 step climb! Nice trip down memory lane! It's many years since we've visited Rhodes, but what a stunning place Rhodes town is. You managed to find so many beautiful and quiet historic parts of town. Its funny but we were the same on our ship, I kept going to plonk myself down on some great seats, then realised it was the smoking area! Lots of great info on Chania and its bus, it looks like a really pretty place to explore.
It’s gorgeous isn’t it, but you do need to get in early to get any of it quiet! We really liked Chania, it was somewhere we didn’t know at all and would like to explore further. Cheers for watching 🍻

Will we see any "Knights" there, Rachael and Wills? Loved seeing the newer palace and enjoyed hearing about it's and the original ones history. Beautiful pieces of art in the shops. Wait! A summer house? YT is treating you well! Great that the audio came back in time for the construction. 😁😁Interesting hearing about some of the Venetian history there. Rhodes is seriously impressive! I remember my aunt saying how on her Greek cruise that had been her favourite stop now I can understand why. So many of the standard images of a Greek island holiday is whitewashed buildings with blue accents, Greece it seems, is a lot more than that. I've never been to Rhodes but I have been to Malta and the Knights of St John also had a major influence there so it looks very similar.
